A fighter jet with a power take-off shaft. I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean what I think it means, but I'm amused by the idea of a redneck backing a RAF Tornado up to his hay baler. "Hook 'er up, bubba!"

When I think about printing an entire jet, it sounds like something Doctor Doofensmirtz would do as part of an effort to take over the entire Tri-State Area

It's a good story, but the whole "you wouldn't download a car" thing was never a real PSA. It was a mock PSA created to satirize the MPAA. The real line is "you wouldn't steal a car".

On April 13th, 2009, Redditor augreeko posted a photoshopped image of a slide from the "Piracy. It's a Crime" PSA to the /r/funnysubreddit, which was edited to read "You wouldn't download a car" surrounded by a  border with the caption "fark You / I would if I could"

Same people who get sued when the riveted and/or welded parts fails, causing massive loss of life.

Talking about saving money by having half million dollar machines at every base. It's like overnight delivery doesn't exist.

There's a balance point between making mass production molds and low numbers production via printing. A few hundred jets? Then it doesn't make sense to produce $250k injection molds.

Bring me a printer that does wax. That will change the world of investment casting.

Tried looking at this thread, looks like mods deleted every QA post in it. Thats a shame, i remember readng the first 50 or so, but they contained just his regular crazy. I didn't get to see what broke the 3D printer's back.

Calling the Tornado a fighter isn't quite as misleading as calling the F-117 a fighter, but it's still almost exclusively a strike aircraft.  There is an interceptor/air superiority variant, but the only people still flying it are the Saudis; the RAF and the Italians have phased it out in favor of the Typhoon.

yup same here, looks like we are witnessing redactive history at work.

This should be a lesson. Don`t attack our dreams however impossible they may be or we will turn into your nightmare.

You ask why we cannot see what you want us to see and the simple answer is no. We will not even engage with you on the question. The more you ask the more attention you get on the subject.

It`s your button not ours and only you will suffer if it gets pushed.

I`m guessing we will see less 3D printing threads greenlit from now on.

Well that's a shame.

The moral of the story: don't be so wrapped up in your own dreams, or in disparaging the dreams of others, that you can't keep an open mind. And especially don't lose your sense of humor.

Life extension vs. 3D printing vs. space exploration is not on the same level as Auschwitz or the Spanish Inquisition or Darfur.
