nVidia is now perpetuating the act of making crop circles with little declaration that there was no food wasted in the process.

I'm taking umbrage with the entire crop circle making crowd and this was a rare occasion where food was already considered a loss and for another purpose.

Don't get me started on the artificially inflated prices of that subsidized economy.

Get the Fark over yourself.

Damn, I just got trolled.

10/10

No, you didn't.

You are tenacious, I will give you that.

Yes, I am, but not for the reasons you assume.

I'm assuming autism.  But not the math genius type, just the repetitive action type.

Or maybe you are an alien

Right FTFPR right on NVidia's website, and I quote...

Already been dealt with, and that link is nowhere on the site which this thread links to. The only bit of information that site shared was that the field was plowed under after this.

Is this the thread where overweight people complain about wasted food, while they double fist big macs and buckets full of cola?

Haven't crop circles been debunked repeatedly?  If I remember correctly, there was a group of people worldwide that admitted to doing it and showed how they've been doing it.

No, it's the thread where people think about someone else besides themselves, as the inflation of food costs doesn't hurt us Big Mac gluttons as much as it does developing nations and third world countries who used to get two sacks of grain each month to live on, and now they get one.

Not only have they been debunked but there are actual companies you can hire to create crop circles for you for your viral marketing needs.

This wouldn't even be a real thing if it wasn't for these kinds of people...

"More than a few people told reporters they had a simple explanation for what they saw: aliens. And when the circle was plowed under by the farm's owner, one commenter on a story posted to CNN even fretted that we just plowed under an integrated circuit more advanced than anything made by man."

Yeah IQ, you tell them. That juvenile barley was going to feed hundreds, if not thousands of hungry people. Oh wait, it was being plowed into the soil as part of crop rotation anyway?

InterruptingQuirk: chozo13: Yes, I am, but not for the reasons you assume.

Well since we are on the subject, what are your reasons? I am usually quite open to compelling arguments but I am still trying to understand your butthurt at the field being used for something other than food. I had assumed I was being trolled but given your insistence I am actually interested in what you have to say on the subject.

Look, I saw crop circle and I saw corporate marketing scheme. I didn't have the regional insight of that Farker who said they had weather recently which would have likely ruined the crop anyway, nor the info from the Farker who just recently divined that it was all soil resting/recovery crop, i.e. barley.

So you jumped to a conclusion and got upset before finding out the facts. No sweat, happens all the time.

Corn fuel is inefficient, i.e. lower combustibility and total burn. It inflates food prices globally. It takes subsidies for it to be economically viable compared to fossil fuels. It is foisted on the driving public in ever increasing percentages of the fuel we buy, possibly to the detriment of the engines in our cars. It creates a revolving door of political symbiosis between the corn lobby and D.C., where changes to the status quo in corn districts is political suicide.

Which had no bearing on this story. So you jumped to a conclusion and got upset before finding out the facts. No sweat, happens all the time.

And lastly/firstly, partaking in this bogus act by nVidia, perpetuates the idea that it is cool to make crop circles. Maybe it is less cool now that an international company is doing now as well, IDK. And without declaring that there was no lost food to this stunt, besides the the only point in the article which states "The circle was plowed under a few days after its discovery.", doesn't say any of the info other Farkers have made claims towards. My natural conclusion to them plowing the field under after this stunt is one of common sense considering they flatten a great deal of it anyways.

Thinking nVidia is attempting to perpetuate the idea that making crop circles is cool just means you are looking a little deep into their motives. Then you jumped to another uninformed conclusion.

Fair enough

GungFu: Man, I hope that knucklehead from a previous thread about this 'crop circle' pops his head in and still tries to convince people that it was the work of aliens as....

...the design is too intricate for humans to achieve, dammit!

I know... and in response to which in that thread I then posted a link to a video of people making a huge and intricate one to demonstrate how they were done. The search for that video literally took me seconds to search on YouTube, and the result was one of the first 3 links or so. Some people are just willfully stupid.

And yeah, the crop this was done in would be a "cover crop". Cover crops are popular ways for farmers to both fight erosion and improve the soil at the same time. You let it grow during the off season and then till it under before you plant your next crop. I am considering trying out cover crops in my garden next winter myself.

Haven't the majority of crop circles been created in Europe? Aside from a very small amount of a crop being destroyed, you pulled the "Murica" card, made some comment about poor people getting one bag of grain instead of two and generally just crapped your pants all over this thread. But yea. marketing and "Murica" are the reason third world countries haven't developed.

You too, huh? I just watched your YouTube example from the other thread, and it looks good. But they never show it in the daylight, just in infra-red. If you're gonna debunk, then goddammit, DEBUNK! I hope more companies use crop circles and waste all that food so people in "developing countries" will starve and die off like they're supposed to be doing. To many humans on this rock is.

Now pardon me as I have to go help prepare a meal thats to big for us to eat so we'll throw most of it away.

If people in America would stop being fat, the planet could support 4 billion more of us. Or 12 billion more cats and dogs. If we plowed those 12 billion cats and dogs under to enrich the soil, we'd all be lonelier, but thinner. Then we'd have more energy to make crop circles. But we shouldn't, because the fields are a pet cemetery.
