You expected sound economic policy out of the GOP?  You're funny....

Less abortions means more babies. More babies more population. More population more Representatives. More Reps more sweet gov't pork.

/the trick is to make sure none of the poor and minorities get to vote.

Abortion has always been the real reason that a lot of Conservatives vote Republican. All the crazy wedge issues are just a means to this end.

Nobody should be surprised that this is the first and only thing on their minds once they get the power.

That's not fair.  They believe in other things too.  Like abolishing child labor laws, for example.  Or mandating overtime at 90 cents on the dollar.

Well, to be fair, the abortion bills usually include some trivial and totally unimportant legislation like a tax exemption on overseas transfers for S-corps but the important thing is protecting the lives of the unborn. Just as long as everyone knows they're irresponsible leeches the second they have both feet out of the vagina.

They created jobs... government jobs.

More babies born to women who don't want them = bad home life = more social safety net incursions = higher need for social workers.

Thanks GOP!

Don't forget GOP efforts to block access to contraception and sex education. Basically the GOP want to make sure women are barefoot and pregnant as much as possible. Oh, and forget about food stamps for the poor..let those kids starve in the streets so their parent understand why sex is evil and finally understand what Jesus demands of his True Followers. Blood for the blood god!

No, no.  You've got it all wrong.  What anti-abortion legislation does is it makes sure that when women get pregnant, they drop out of the workforce to raise a child, thereby  creatinga job that a man really, really needs.  Voila!

What's that you say?  What if said woman doesn't have a man because she lost her husband to a disease, or an accident, or (horror of horrors) just had non-legally-wedded sex (consensual or not) and there's no father to support, well, that's just your own fault and you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps and land yourself a man to take care of you!  Problem solved!

Yeah, that's exactly who I knew you were talking about.  The (particularly rabid) abortion people wouldn't dare to challenge it, because they know their requirements are crap, and they're just out to stop abortions, no matter what.  The gun nuts, on the other hand, have no sense of humor and absolutely zero middle ground and will get pissy over any hint of disagreeing with their petty, fear-filled positions.

You know, I kinda want to know the origin of that phrase.  If it's a meme that originates in sarcasm, it feels like a bit of pettiness, if they ever directly branded their party as such(and I firmly believe this to be likely), it's more fair game.

Yeah I just made it up based on paraphrasing tea party sloganeering about liberty. The only liberty a republican has ever cared about is the liberty of a capitalist to tax dodge and pollute. In every other respect, conservative principles require a slavish devotion to a monocultural eidolon of propriety that admits to no exceptions and makes demons of those who are different.

The funny thing is, there's a real resonance between the two single-issue topics, more so than anyone would like to admit. Anti-gun and anti-abortion people both believe that innocent lives are at stake. Pro-choice and pro-firearms people believe a basic right is at stake. It's just a telling glimpse on the skew of the nation that anti-gun legislation has had absolutely no traction even with various high-profile school shootings, and anti-abortion legislation is being ushered to the front of the legislative queue.

I just hope I can open some eyes on the other side of the issue. If you're pro-gun, maybe being forced to recognize the absolutely ridiculous requirements being fostered on a routine medical procedure might give you pause, because those same requirements could be levied on your own gun rights.

Like in Canada, Prostitution has always been legal, but little power hungry turds made laws to make the process of getting services illegal. The Supreme court of Icebackistan said those loopholes violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Brothels to open in late 2014!!!! Cum one, cum all!!

Sure, the point I was making is that the laws they are making are mostly unconstitutional. Not only do they not care about women, they don't care about the constitution either.

This is why both parties suck.

Liberals: All thought, no action.
Conservatives: All action, no thought.

If the left could get their act together for just one election cycle we would see some change.  But then you get situations like Harry Reid, for example, who has overwhelming support for filibuster reform and then wimps out at the last minute.  It's mindboggling.
