But strangely enough, have a hard on too...

"That's it, the way to cure the incredible ineffectiveness and dysfunction of both parties in Washington - we move the Capitol to Nebraska where they can experience family, conservative values, living within a budget, and pulling together, not pulling apart," Sasse said in a new campaign ad.

Shouldn't these free market loving Republicans be calling to move the Capitol to NYC to see how a city is able to have a larger GDP than all but two states?

I cannot believe how rational that Heritage Foundation material looks: "implicit contract between individuals and society regarding health care?" That might as well be Eugene V. Debs-talk today.

Then there was that whole "Clinton issued a directive of total martial law over "all territories formerly known as these United States, from now on to be called the Holy United Imperial Americlintonian Demopublic (HUIAD)." That was a pretty bad deal.

Alien and Sedition Acts? That's your worst law? Sorry, the Fugitive Slave Acts take the cake, or any law enforcing slavery. Jim Crow is up there too. The draft is worse than the A&S acts, IMO. Obamacare is pretty damned bad, but I don't even think it's as bad as the Smoot Hawley Tariff.

I was skeptical at first but according to Wikipedia you're right.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_GDP

Two things stand out though. First, how the hell is the gdp of NYC larger than that of New York State?
Second, I feel embarrassed that Tokyo has Manhattan beat by so much. We really need to try and catch up, or bomb them again. Or both!

Unless I've suffered a stroke in the last few minutes, yes, that is a serious question. Isn't New York City IN New York State? Shouldn't the GPD of city be included in that of the state, making the state GDP at the very least equal?

I'd think it's because "NYC" refers to "metro NYC" which includes a bunch of North Jersey (including Bergen County), and really everything on the Turnpike above Exit 9-10 (can you tell I'm from Jersey?). And possibly parts of CT as well?

I don't know for sure, but that's the only way it makes sense.

The GDP city list is of the entire metro area--which in NYC's case is a tri-state metro area.
