Eps05: I know there's a picture, but I find it funny/strange/sad that they don't even mention skin color. Because mentioning someone is black is racist?

That is a somewhat disturbing trend. Maybe they should stop mentioning the gender of suspects too so as not to be sexist.

gimmegimme: I know this is going to sound strange to some commenters both here and elsewhere, but what if this attack wasn't related to race or gender?  What if it was caused by a crazy person doing something really crazy because they're crazy and have a crazy lack of impulse control and respect for others?

Then we really need to get black people some mental health care, because they seen disproportionately "crazy".

Let's say the actual attack wasn't related to race - does that mean we shouldn't disclose the race (an identifying feature) of the person who did it?  Or do we need to stay PC and just pretend that we all look alike no matter our race?

He's obviously been misinformed as to the meaning of "getting busy".

How about we just always mention everybody's race?

"In California today, a white woman robbed a bank.  The bank teller, Claude Monet, a white man, alerted police to the crime by pressing an alarm button hidden under his desk."

Now everybody's happy.  But stories about Tiger Woods are going to get tedious.

We probably don't need to mention the race of people that were apprehended (or victims), but if, as  gimmegimme mentioned, the perp is still on the run, that information might be useful to identify them.

Why don't they list the race of the attacker? Wouldn't that help in identification?
