kvinesknows: Carn: Well, on the bright side, MLK Jr day is in just two weeks.  Day off or floater for some of us.

????Is that because you eat so much fried chicken and waffles to celebrate? I know that usually makes my poop float

Well that is certainly a different way of interpreting Floating Holiday haha.  Our company allows us to float any holiday - meaning we can work if we want to and bank that for a vacation day later but it has to be in the same calendar year.  Last year I worked the 4th of July and took that Friday for a 3 day weekend instead.

HaywoodJablonski: SteveFU: For my neighbor, the 5th was the most depressing day of the year. I say this because he took his own life in his driveway, with his wife and 3 kids inside his house. And being that our houses are close to each other, me in my bedroom, 10 feet from where it happened. His wife and I had to watch as the firedepartment hosed down his car, my side of the house and his driveway to get it cleaned up........ Later, I had to call the coroner back out to my house to do a sweep of my backyard. My dogs had found a piece of his skull.

That sucks. Any idea what led him to that?

No clue, my wife and I talk to his wife more than we talked to him. He was kinda distant and kept to himself a lot. We had no idea that something was going wrong.

Gotta pick some time. Christmas + 12 days = time for next festival

I thought that said loudmouth bass and I was really confused about what you did for a living.

Who knows. Maybe marrying his wife and having kids ended up being his own personal hell. He thought life would turn out differently and he finally came to the conclusion that this was the only way out.

Either that or he for himself in too much debt which is way more depressing than people imagine.

Either way, it sucks for his family. You don't recover from something like that for a long time.

As we just got 16-18 inches of snow dumped on us over the weekend, I had to work the whole weekend with a late shift last night causing me to have to drive home at 10pm after most of the snow was down and the plow trucks were shut down for the evening, I'm in a good mood.  I am off work today and get to play in the snow while everyone else is fighting to get to work.  I hope to go sledding, later dudes.

Americans can't have epiphany, since we've banned incandescent light bulbs.

No, we will have to settle for slowly increasing understanding, as illustrated by a CFL.

lol'd & stopped reading with the quote: 'According to DivorceDepot.co.uk'

Guessing any reporter who regularly checks -that- site would write every 'news report' w/ a negative slant?

/hey Boo_Guy - pin a note up at your job offering to ride share to the ski & snowboard slopes this winter - you'll have people to hang out with, and probably a gf by Feb 14 :)

We still have LED's and those are a kind of like incandescent without the vacuum bulb.

Its definitely been a rough span of weeks in my household, depression has abounded since before the holidays. I believe it.

Despite having no job for over a year (how I envy those who have a job to go to today!), having to pay $800 (that we needed for food and stuff) to fix our ancient car that will probably die completely in under a month with our luck, and having a horrible case of strep throat, I was actually looking forward to today as my high energy 4 year old would be back at school and I was finally going to get a chance to clean my house properly and maybe get in a much needed nap.

As it stands, I got next to no sleep last night due to my throat pain, was up at 6:30 getting my kid ready for school (with him whining the whole time about not wanting to go), and didn't think to check if the buses were running until we'd walked all the way to the bus stop on glare ice in freezing rain and noticed we were the only ones there.

Turns out they were cancelled. a fact I could have learned if I'd bothered to check the website when I woke up but didn't. So I got out of bed and got my kid ready for school for no reason at all and now I'm trying to doze on the couch as he bounces off the walls, thrilled that (he thinks) he got what he wanted and doesn't have to go to school.

The buses better be running tomorrow. I need a farking nap.

It's the WORST day, since YESTERDAY.

I like January.  Other than having to pay the piper from Christmas celebrating, it's a fairly good month for me. The days are getting longer. All the great winter clothing goes on sale. There are bowl games and playoff games, with some basketball in between. My raise goes into effect. I have only one family birthday to remember. My work is slowest this time of year; so slow, in fact, that we take a week's vacation each year the third week of January.

Now, if the weather is so bad on January 17th that our flight to San Juan is delayed, January will seem quite sucky...

Come on people, spring has never been closer.  After spending spring to fall in a cast, I am so looking forward to spring and being able to take the Hog for a ride for the 1st time in a long time. Every day brings me closer.

Plus, as already stated, this is the anniversary of my arrival in this country. Woohoo !

Flogging Molly, and only the singer is Irish, the rest are Americans.

Started my new healthier regimine today (8 hours of sleep even if I want to stay up and watch tv, light exercise in the morning and a little yoga in my office at lunch, water with every meal, and no desserts or soda).  I actually feel pretty damn good.

DON'T DO IT!  I started my health kick too.  Removed the clothes hanging on my elliptical trainer.  That's enough for today.
