No, Andy Dalton is officially the Robb Stark of the North.

2014-01-06 09:50:05 AM
He can't be the Romo of the north. Romo doesn't play in January.

2014-01-06 10:06:07 AM
I believe the proper phrasing is "Tony Romo IN the North"

EyeballKid: It's true. They're both quarterbacks whose careers are hampered by their doofus team owners who are too self-absorbed to hire a general manager.

Hell, Bengals don't even employ scouts.

I guess the Chargers used to fark guys like him in prison.

/the Bungles blew a playoff game? Where's my fainting couch, I simply cannot bear the surprise.

Generation_D: LucklessWonder: This headline is just troll bait. Dalton isn't like Romo. Stafford is a much better comparison. Decent QB made to look good by an out of this world WR. Can't get it done in the postseason.

Romo is irrelevant because a)he's hurt, b)he's not in the playoffs and c)he's a good QB bailing out a terrible defense.

Plus even the Cowboys have won playoff games post 1990. Bengals not so much.

LOL at the Cowboys white-knights defending Romo as better by saying "he's no Andy Dalton."

It's really come to this, Cowboys fans.

America (laughs at your) Team.

America laughs at my team because they're the terrible 3-13 Washington Redskins. I am emphatically NOT a Cowboys fan. I just recognize that Romo isn't the problem with Dallas.

This is the perfect steamingpile comment. It's a sports opinion, of sorts. Its initial purpose was to pump up a player because he played at UGA. And it's not just wrong, it's laughably, provably, demonstrably false. There is absolutely no way it could be based in reality, because it's patently untrue.

And yet, he will continue to deliver his hot sports takes in the fervent belief that someday, somehow, Georgia will be relevant.

So what you're saying is that he's like the Skip Bayless of Fark?

At least Skip Bayless was a legitimate journalist for a brief moment, back in the early 80s.

Possibly. I do know that he was an idiot troll way back when he was writing for the Dallas papers. I thought that was in the early 80's.

It was to see if anyone would bite, people have defended Andy for a long time for no reason, he looks lost most games and their defense keeps them in games. He throws up a pass to get a miraculous reception of a horrible pass on the other end.

Truth be known it was more of a troll against people who were saying Andy Dalton was as good as Matt Ryan than pumping AJ up. Although he is the best receiver to come out of UGA in 40-50 years, I'm sure Pittsburgh fans would disagree with Hines being there so long though.

And Georgia is still relevant, otherwise they wouldn't put them in the top 10-15 every year, even though I agree they didn't deserve it last preseason.

Sadly Romo is about the only thing good going for Dallas but he ends up as the whipping boy. I would be happy to have him here in MN.

Isn't Delhomme a better comparison for Dalton?  Confuses you by appearing competent for long stretches, only to crap the bed in such magnificent fashion?

I mean granted ginger-boy has a LONG way to go before he surpasses the Jake himself, but he's the closest comparison I think.

Tony Romo is so much better than Andy Dalton

If Andy Dalton generates 30 Points, the Bengals win (13-0). Basically if Dalton plays well
If Tony Romo generates 30 Points, the Cowboys are 9-7. Basically if Romo plays well, the Cowboys sometimes win.

It probably doesn't do a lot for your confidence when your boss says he didn't even want your ginger ass in the first place.  Then going out and crapping the bed like a monkey with the ebola virus in the first round of the playoffs probably didn't do a lot for his job security.  I'm guessing the Bungles draft a QB high or in a perfect world pick up Mike Vick.

I'm sorry but...I have little or no sympathy towards Mike Brown.  He's a farking moron.

dunno if it's really the person taking the snaps if the Bengals as a franchise haven't done shiat in the playoffs since 1990

i mean here you've got the most stacked team in the AFC in terms of talent - everybody in the know knew San Diego can take on anybody in the afc playoffs this year - but Cincinnati should've been one of the tougher matchups and... they could end up being the biggest pushover in the playoffs this year

That might be related to the salary cap penalty they were inflicted with. Them and the Redskins went over the cap in the year there was no cap and were punished for a couple years. This year might have been the last year of it, don't recall.

Cincy is never gonna win anything with the ownership they have, they just don't care if the team wins or not.

I believe they are the only team without an indoor practice facility, as of 2011, they were using the Bearcat's facility. That may have changed since then, haven't found any articles backing that up. Also, Marvin Lewis, 2nd longest tenured coach in the league, zero playoff wins. Any other team would have canned him years ago.

People wonder why Carson Palmer wanted out of town so bad.

Norv inherited a playoff team, but he also inherited AJ Smith and his complete lack of paying money for offensive lineman, among other things.  It completely derailed the last two years and that's part of why Rivers hasn't looked good at all during the same span.  Behind(or in front of?) every good quarterback is a good offensive line(except maybe Warner's time in Arizona).  They also had bad injuries to key players(LDT, Ryan Matthews, Antonio Gates[2-3 years of plantar fasciitis], nearly every o-lineman, the entire defensive end and linebacker crew, etc) and no depth(AJ Smith's job).

Norv should remain a coordinator, but there were worse things wrong with that team than Norv.

As far as this year, the Chargers seem to have grown into their new system as the season progressed.  I don't think anyone ever doubted they were talented, but people seem to have written off Rivers as worse than Jay Cutler or something.  These people never watched a San Diego game or paid attention to the team reports.

RINO: Watching the video, I'm confused by the turnover on the Dalton run. I thought the rules say that the ground can not cause a fumble, which is exactly what happened there.

If he slid feet first, no fumble.  If he goes head first it's a fumble.  If no one touched him right away he could get back up and keep running.

Trolling Cowboys fans in a Bengals thread?  I think we've passed the point where it's no longer funny and have reached the point where it's funny again because of the sheer ridiculousness of it.  This is friggin' absurd.

Anyway, Dalton.  It's possible that he'll eventually mature into a competent QB, but I'm pretty sure it's not gonna happen in Cincinnati.  Maybe we could trick Jerry into a straight Romo-for-Dalton trade....

I don't get all the hate for Tony Romo.  Sure he isn't a surgeon or anything, and he makes more than maybe his fair share of mistakes.  Consider that the dude came back into a game with a punctured lung to put the cowboys on his back and carry them to a win.

He may not be 'clutch' to some people (that's such a stupid and nebulously defined term) but to me, going above and beyond like that is pretty farking clutch.

Captain Dan: Stafford is the better comparison to Dalton.  They're both mediocrities who ride the coattails of All-Pro wide receivers.

What makes Romo different is that he's a genuinely good quarterback (until December).

Stafford threw for over 5,000 yards in a season.  The only other QBs to do that are Marino, Brees, Brady, and Manning.  Not saying that makes Stafford a great QB or anything, but he ain't Dalton.

Your wording wasn't ambiguous, ShadowKamui simply isn't that bright.

And while Dalton made a series of horrendous mistakes yesterday, the Chargers D forced almost all of them. Ingram and/or Liguet were breathing down his neck by the time Dalton got to his 3rd step in his drop all day. When you are constantly having to decide whether to force a quick throw, hang in and get slaughtered, or run for your life, it tends to affect your decision making abilities. Even on the unforced fumble, he was running for his life.
