(Gizmodo)   The first official Lego Simpsons set is awesome. Clearly, all those bad modern Simpsons episodes were totally worth it   (lego.gizmodo.com) divider line 36

Not so awesome if it ends up being $300.

Probably will be. 2500 pieces x $.10 a piece + liscensed set premium + 6 minifigs...

As cool as this is, I really wish they'd bring back the "Monster Fighter's" line.

On a vaguely related note, my son and I playing Lego Marvel Heroes, and having a ton of fun. "Get these gosh-darn snakes off my gosh-darn Helicarrier." That line just made the game worth it alone.

I have a Lego Star Wars kit with 389 pieces that retailed about $30-$40, so $300 for a 2500 piece set sounds pretty good.

Just wait til you do the 'house party protocol' bonus level.  It takes the SLJ worship to a whole new level.

You have very few memories about what Lego blocks were like 20 years ago. The licensed sets are very, very new.

Matt Selman's name has been showing up as the first Executive Producer credit more and more often on recent episodes that I've enjoyed.  I don't know if he's officially taking over the showrunner role, but after a decade of stagnant mediocrity under Al Jean (and years of forcible awfulness under Mike Scully) it would be nice to have a fresh(er) take on the program.

No, it will never be Season 7 again.  It will never even be Bob's Burgers Season 1 again.  But it's at least better than anything Seth McFarlane's got on the air right now.

Why aren't they made to glow in the dark?

I clearly recall babysitting one of my nephews and finally getting him to go to sleep and  trying to sneak out of his room and stepping on one of the damned things and stifling my stream of invective.  Land mines wouldn't hurt as much.

Very, very new?

The Star Wars sets have been around for about fifteen years...

To those of us who grew up with the first round of battleship gray space sets (with few special pieces), yes, all the licensed sets seem quite new.  Even the Star Wars ones.

How about bringing it to market before Christmas, instead of the first week of January.

That picture shows Maggie holding what appears to be an Uzi, and there's no way that LEGO would go for that. Those Danes have a problem with guns in their sets, and anything beyond a generic blaster seems to be too much lately.

I remember the old pirate sets' pistols and blunderbusses, but those days are gone.

I get that catching Lisa's and Maggie's 2D hair in 3D is a difficult task, but damn that looks goofy.

This would be just like most of the recent superhero LEGO sets. Interesting minifigs, boring setpieces that are background for the figs.

No longer true.  There are several different types of gun, now, due to the advent of the more up to date star-wars sets and the Indiana Jones and Lone Ranger lines.

There is also a separate company doing weapons just for Lego.

Here you go  http://www.firestartoys.com/Shop/Minifigure-Weapons/LEGO-Guns.html

Now the question is... why did I know that?
