But the issue is transparency. We can't make sound decisions unless we know all the facts.

Dont look for big oil to provide information on their operations. Even if they have the info they will make the parties involved dig it out the hard way.

As long as they are making money they will never admit to wrongdoing. They will obfuscate and delay and when forced to they will pay off in a backroom deal, but they will make sure a signed release absolving them of any responsibility will be signed first.

In a word- "Duh!"

You can't have your kayak and heat it too. Growing the economy, growing business, growing the democrat-voting base, "going forth and multiplying"... it all comes at a price. All these rights without attendant responsibilities are finally catching up to us. And, thanks to a federal- grade case of denial, the can they're so busy kicking down the road is really a snowball, and snowballing to E.L.E.- proportions. The real question: how many species are we going to take with us? The real problem is that the democrats can't beat the drum of Responsibility too hard, because they know that every last regulation, every requirement, every expense upon business becomes an "outlay" for them, and therefore, ends up costing the consumer more than twice the original cost, in the form of profits and taxes (governmental profits). Fracking, as harmful as it is, will continue because our paranoid coke-whore of a government needs the money to spy on everybody.

And yet, the fracking industry still has no idea why people don't trust them regardless of how many commercials and "documentaries" they produce.

Maybe if they would stop doing shiat like this anytime anything goes wrong and actually be open and transparent about their operations, maybe...just maybe...people will actually start to trust them.

Nah, what a silly notion.

Vaccines contain ingredients on their packaging. I'd support the fracking companies provide "ingredients" for the material they pump into the ground that could potentially leak into the water supply.

The frustrating part here as an engineer is that this pretty definitely isn't what the wingnuts were afraid of-- contamination from the process itself.  The process is fine.  99% sure that this is a failure of containment at ground level, not down in the well.

... which, again, makes it  worse.  If it were a result of the process in the well, it would be a case of "all right, well how do we regulate/mitigate this".  But if shiat is leaking out on the surface... well, we already  know how to fix that, it's already part of the standard procedure.  Meaning this is not a fracking problem, it's a careless/stupid issue.

And it's almost impossible to fix stupid.

Your tap water spontaneously combusting is the sort of thing you'd notice before drilling started, I think.

Have you tried to light your water?

The reason they know it is new is because the water started "sputtering" out of the taps, instead of flowing.  That sputtering was the gas interrupting the water flow.  It didn't start until after fracking, which is why they noticed it.

What do you got next?
