The alleged victim was a young teen girl, said the source, declining to give further details.

I didn't realize 1,2 and 4 were fark hot buttons and I wouldn't have known that Williamsburg=hipsters without someone saying so.

I feel like a hot button bonanza would be more like an atheist off duty cop was enjoying a well done steak with plenty of A1 and a bud light stands his ground against a smoking hot hipster girl who was brought here as a child when her parents illegally immigrated and she was merely going door to door raising awareness for global warming.

Nah, they'll probably go after it pretty hard, because organized-crime arrests make for great headlines. Regular people who get screwed over rarely resort to torture-murder; this was probably some kinda mob deal. Shylock borrows from tougher shylock, fails to pay, shenanigans ensue.

They knock him senseless or one guy just holds him down, and a plastic bag over the head = smother.  The burning part is to eliminate physical evidence.

I gotta say this.  My Dad's best friends father is a slum lord.  He goes around buying up condemned and cheap auction homes, hires a crew to come in a fix it up, and then rents exclusively to HUD families.  Now, this guy won't pay ANYONE over 8 an hour and does really shady things like buying the house and having his crew stealthily remove sheet rock/walls/etc, redo the electrical, fix it all back, let it sit for a few months, then call the initial inspector to see that all the house needs is basic repairs --> that's highly illegal because only a licensed electrician or a homeowner, and only at the place of their actual residence for the homeowner, can legally do electrical work here.  He only does the 8 an hour because he's really, really cheap (pretty much every one of his crew is a crackhead, literal crack smokers), and he does HUD families exclusively because he can jack up the rent and the government will pay it.  Now, this guy has about 30 or so rent homes that make between 600-800 per month, his own business that makes thousands a month, and yet, he's always "broke" and going through "hard times" so he can't afford to pay help decently.  We did the math and he usually makes his money back in 10-14 months, just from the money the one house pulls in.

I was working for him a few years back (desperate and needed the $$$).  One evening he was trying to get us to work more hours, we were 9 hours in during a 100 degree day @ 8/hr, and I said no, I have to get home, my dogs have been locked up for about 10 hours now and I need to let them out.  He suggested that I take my dogs to the pound so they wouldn't be a distraction and I'd be able to work more hours and a "good" job.  I kindly explained how most employers pay skilled workers $15/hr+ for the same job and unskilled's at 10-12, told him to go fark himself, got in my truck, and left.  At the time I had had my dogs for 6 years from puppies, I'm not gonna abandon them so I can make an extra 16 dollars at the worst job you can have.

The problem with America is guys like him, the ones who make more money than they know what to do with and refuse paying the people who make them that money a livable wage -- Or, as I like to call it, Capitalism.

What a surprise, an overly religious guy was involved in shady real estate dealings.  I personally have found, that regardless the religion, the more someone is fanatical about their faith, the more they seem able to rationalize crappy behavior.  I guess they figure they are going to heaven because they pray so well, so they get to treat their fellow man like lice.

Since scumbags are normally murdered by other scumbags, it's good to catch them anyways.  It gives society two for the price of one, or in this case, four for the price of one, since it seems like there was a group of people that grabbed this guy and pulled him into the van.

My guess, he was killed by some other shady business partners, so it wouldn't be a big loss to track them down, and put them away for life.

Bob_Laublaw: Fissile: You have no idea of what goes on with New York Hasidim.

As an Arctic Circle dweller, I'm pretty far removed from the NY Hasidim scene. Embellish a little here.

==========

New York Hasidim....residing mainly in Brooklyn and Orange/Rockland counties, are an organized criminal cult.   This guy was not just stealing to make himself rich.  You can be sure million of those dollars were funneled to rabbis who use the money to build and maintain Frum schools, private security patrols, ambulance services,  health clinics...on and on it goes.  The rank and file Hasidim are totally dependent on these rabbis for everything.  They arrange marriages, provide housing, money, etc.  The rank and file then vote the way they are told to vote.  The Hasidim vote as a block, it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen.  The vote totals from the Hasidic communities look something like this:  78,345 for Candidate A -- 7 for Candidate B.  Those seven were probably people who forgot their glasses, or tripped inside the voting booth.  It's impossible to get elected dog catcher in the State of New York without the Hasidic vote.  In turn the politicians who are elected turn a blind eye to the blatant criminality taking place in the Hasidic community which includes, but is not limited to: Welfare fraud, insurance fraud, mortgage fraud, misuse of public funds, money laundering, etc, etc.

To sum up, the leaders of the Hasidim steal to provide for the rank and file so that everyone can live, but no one has to do any actual work.  In exchange, the dependent rank and file vote as a block, which gives the Hasidim enough political juice to keep stealing without fear of the pesky government taking an interest in what they are doing.

All of these are accusations have no basis in fact.  Of course people will spew them, especially Farkers, as 1) they are safe behind anonymity and 2) the accused is unable to defend himself (being dead)

What we do have here is a person who is dead under suspicious circumstances.  He did accumulate some material assets before his death.  He provided a place to live to others for a monthly fee.

Anything else is pure conjecture, be it kicking puppies or helping with Little Suzie's bake sale.

You need to add 'landlord' to that list. You pretty much have to "sell your soul to the devil" to live with that title.

Somehow, I find this whole thing disgusting, but not surprising.

It's possible, but the fact remains that sex abuse is more prevalent in the Hasidic community than it is in the Catholic Church.  Usually it's a some powerful member of the community farking little boys or girls of the rank and file Hasidim, in which case it's ignored, and the victims don't dare call the police.   Maybe this joker was farking the wife or children of a powerful rabbi?  Could be.  The only thing that's known for sure is that Big Furry-Hat has screwed over so many people, in so many ways, there are probably dozens, if not hundreds, of people who would like to see him dead.

Replace hasidic Jew with Indian and you get my experience. I have never believed in stereotypes until I moved to an area with a slightly higher than usual Indian population. Every single time they see an opportunity to screw you over, they will. Mostly because they would rather try to screw you over to resell what they're buying than try to actually sign up for the same vendor you use because the vendor won't give them as good a cost.

Example: Pepsi 2L 99¢, limit 5. They try to come back 5 times a day to buy it up because they want to resell it. No, limit is 5 per household for the entire sale, not each visit. I told you this last time, and the time before that, and the 15 times before that. And no, you can't use the coupon for a 24 pk can on it. Yes, it scans, no I won't accept it because I won't get reimbursed.

There a lot of scams in tight ultra-religious communities.  The scamster is one of them, so he has their trust, right from the start.  Then, all he needs are greedy people.  For a scam to work, the "mark" must be greedy.  So greedy, that it makes them stupid. Otherwise, how else would very successful people be taken for large amounts of money, by some of these idiotic schemes.

I've seen that in this area as well.  Convenient store owners are the reason for limits, because supplier brings in what they think will sell, only to have the whole supply wiped out before the normal customers can get their portion and scream at the clerks.  One summer, pepsi was selling 1ltrs for $1 which is great compared to $1.69 for a 20 oz.  The small store owners cleaned it out, and likely sold them for $1.89 at their stores.  Of course they are going to struggle with getting lower cost, because they are a single location and don't order enough bulk for a better negotiated price.  That is why big stores, gas stations, and 7elevens are kicking their butts.  I am okay with them making it, but don't mess with me getting what I want from the stores I want to shop at.

* Ok, not ever.  But in terms of being able to live surprisingly well while the people allowing you to live well suffer daily indignities because of your slumlord ass, well...

I accidentally rented from a slumlord.  The house was initially decent, at least for a college town (appearances!) and only his ex-wife with a different last name met with us and signed the lease, so it wasn't until later we realized why he did that (because there's a jaw-dropping amount of crap about him on Google, including at the time the city itself suing him - after I got out of there, the utility company joined in (for half a million dollars) and he had an assaulting an officer charge pending.  AND HE'S STILL IN TOWN.  The SO pointed him out a few months back and I was so goddamn tempted to slash his tires for a plethora of reasons I'd now rather forget).

I hate to be the one to break it to you but you were a bad employee.  You knew the conditions before you ever went to work for him, slum lord or not, and agreed by accepting his offer of employment.  I am not saying that you SHOULD have taken the dogs to the pound (though they probably would have found a better home that someone making only $8.00/hr) but don't white knight yourself for whining and going back on your word thus losing the trust of a job creator.

So a bad employee leaves home an hour+ early to get to work first, was the only one with a vehicle, brought and used my own tools, and stayed as late as possible?  When I got the job it was supposed to be from between 8-4:30 with a half hour lunch, not 12+ hours, and I was supposed to get $20 a day for gas to pick up and take the crew home, which I was never paid.  Before you go and accuse someone of being a lazy, whining slacker, you should at least have the whole story and realize that I was just trying to make enough money so I had gas and food (for me, and me only) since I had already spent my savings on bills and making sure my animals were well taken care for.  The only reason I had that job is because I was in-between two good jobs (had 3 weeks downtime) and didn't want to resort to selling weed, WHICH PAYS A LIVING WAGE, while I was waiting on the contract to finalize on an $80,000 job that I eventually made 10% on, or $8000 in 2 weeks.

I take it you've never done any kind of hard work in 100 degree, 80%+ humidity weather.  Get back to me when you've hauled 80lb logs up hill in the mud during August in Arkansas for 8 hours then the boss wants you to do it some more --> When you have a job like that, are being paid next to nothing, not being paid the promised gas money, no insurance or benefits, leave the job in pain everyday, and are asked to do even more with no extra incentive, you say fark it and find a different crappy job --> being told to ditch my dogs so I could have such a "wonderful" job was the breaking point.

Hell, I bet you've never woke up in January to a foot of snow on the ground with the highway iced over, two flat tires that won't hold air, and poured the last bowl of dog food, leaving you to walk a 7 mile round trip, 3,5 miles with a 30lb bag of dog food and a 5lb bag of cat food, in said ice and snow, so you can feed the dogs and cats dinner, completely ignoring the fact that ya needed to go grocery shopping, but because of inclement weather ya hadn't worked in a week, were out of food yourself, and spent your last $20 on cat and dog food knowing you'll have nothing to eat for at least 3 days other than that last can of peas in the pantry with some hot sauce.  fark you, and fark you if you don't like my long ass sentence.  Don't ever accuse me of being a bad pet owner because I'll go without before they will, and they've never once gone without.

You don't seem to understand what a "one-percent'er" is.  They call this guy a "millionaire" in the newspaper, but, that does not mean shiat.  What was his net worth?   I could buy a property for $10 million, which is mortgaged for $9.9 million, does that make me a multi-millionaire?  They say this guy had a lot of property, but, they say that he owed money to everybody.  This guy was no more a one-percent'er than I am.

The story of the Hasidic community funding their religious schools in Jersey with money for public schools blew my freaking mind.
The Asbury Park Press's 11-page expose on Lakewood Public Schools, "Cheated," is (finally!) online. For those playing catch-up, Lakewood is an unusual district: while 5,600 children attend the public schools, the district spends almost ¼ of its $130 million annual budget on transportation and special education costs for 22,000 children who attend Hasidic private day schools. The School Board -- 8 of 9 members belong to the Hasidic community -- defers on all matters to Board Attorney Michael Inzelbuch who, until he was fired last week, made about $500,000 per year. The Board also just fired its Superintendent, Lydia Silva, and has been through a multiple high school principals and business administrators in just the last few years. A new community group, Lakewood UNITE, has attempted to shed light on distressingly low performance among the all-minority kids who attend Lakewood Public Schools and Board member shenanigans.

The only reason I had that job is because I was in-between two good jobs (had 3 weeks downtime) and didn't want to ...

That story would have seemed more anti-Semitic, save for the fact that it appeared that so many Jews hated this Jew, which merely added local colour to his douchebaggery. The angle of his fur hat giving away some sort of deep character flaw was perhaps the most random thing I've read all week, and I read a LOT of random things.

lack of warmth: jayphat: buckler: I try really, really hard not to be prejudicial, but when I was in NYC, the Hasidic Jews made it difficult. With very few exceptions, they managed to validate every hateful stereotype leveled against Jews in general, and that really disappointed me, especially as I call several Jewish (non-Hasidic) people friends, and they have been incredible supports to lean on throughout my life. Somehow, I find this whole thing disgusting, but not surprising.

I get the getting a better price on it. Its the blatant attempts at ripping me off in the process and acting like they don't understand that gets my blood boiling.

Interesting. I have a pal who has gradually gone Chasid over the years, and his business dealings (including with Jews less observant or ultraorthodox than himself) seem to reflect a "screw your neighbour" mentality I find a little unbecoming. But if your religious beliefs include notions of "chosen" and "covenant" and so on, it's clear that if one is not in the club, one cannot expect to be treated like a human being, because you only exist to service the greater good of the tiny sect.

Secular, or at least, non-ultra, Israelis of course have known this for decades. They've kept the serpent well fed, and shouldn't be surprised at the outcome of stealth theocracy.

Yeah, job creator should have given it away, but I take attacks against my dogs very personally.  I've had them for 9 years now and they're the children I've never had.  Except for 1 hospital visit where I was in isolation for 4 days, mrsa staph on my finger, we've never been apart for more than 12 hours, seriously.

7. Home foreclosure scams

Touching the little girl is not conjecture.

I hear ya, no hard feelings.  I almost bit on the job creator part -- one month his net income dropped to about 10K/month because a few renters left, so he fired a crew of 6 except for 2 guys  (so monthly payout went from ~7680/m to ~2560/m) .  Apparently only making ~3K/month (from just the rent houses, btw; not including his store) profit isn't enough  Great job creator, huh.  People like him are the reason people like myself have little faith in Capitalism and the All Mighty Economy.  He honestly and genuinely means well, but he's just so out of touch with reality that he seriously thinks $8/hr is good pay these days, and that getting rid of my dogs was just fine and wouldn't be an issue with me because they're just dogs.  He's also a Republican with Tea Party signs in his yard and the stickers on his car.  I probably should have started the first story with his political stance since that would have explained it all in 1.

Using sarcasm to make a point does not make K3rmy a troll. He makes a good point. The ridiculous nature of American employment means that employers feel as though they can make all kinds of arbitrary demands, from urine testing for drugs to suggestions that one abandon family to do a "good" job. Heh, no one noticed the Post's wonderful editing job?

A Stark building at 239 Banker St. in Greenpoint was so decrepit, the city issued a vacate order in 2009 - and numerous tenants were left to chase Stark down in futile efforts to retrieve the four-month deposits Stark had demanded of them, one tenant organizer said.

"I've had many conversations with him, and of course in many of those conversations I wanted to kill him myself," joked Greg Hanlon, who lived in a Stark-owned building at 239 Banker St. in Greenpoint.

That building was so decrepit, the city would issue a vacate order in 2009 - and numerous tenants were left to chase Stark down in futile efforts to retrieve the four-month deposits Stark had demanded of them, one tenant organizer said.

Warlordtrooper: I loath to defend this asshat because the guillotine would have been a more appropriate punishment for him but:

"He was involved in shady business deals, was known to carry around a lot of money and had a sealed arrest for forcible touching" in his past, one law-enforcement source told The Post.

I hope this officer gets fired and sued.  Sealed court documents are sealed for a reason, the public are not supposed to know about them.

"Had a sealed arrest" isn't the same thing as expungement. That's just one of many kinds of seals, and it wouldn't even be in the cop's system if it was, but if he learned about it elsewhere it's fair game.

fark this scum bag- I hope it hurt.
After many years of scummy landlords I finally lucked out. My landlady is awesome! I pay about half the going rate in my neighborhood ($600 a month for a two bedroom with a garage, covered carport and fenced in yard in a decent area). When my AC broke this summer she bought me a new one that night and knocked a bit off of my rent for installing it. She came by a few days ago to discuss renovations including new tile floors, a remodeled kitchen, new windows and new rain gutters, all of which she'll pay me to install. Of course I work for her super cheap in appreciation of the low rent and the fact that she's a nice person.
Not to stretch my credibility too far, but I also had an awesome lawyer one time, too.

Not often, but sometimes like this, you can see selfishness, hubris and evil in a man's eyes.

I'm Exacta-boxing this one--horse #1 Other Hassidics and horse #2 unpaid contractors who are mobbed up. Ask Arnold Rothstein about the New York Jewish mafia, oh wait:

On November 4, 1928, Arnold Rothstein was shot and mortally wounded during a business meeting at Manhattan's Park Central Hotel at Seventh Avenue near 55th Street. The shooting was reportedly linked to debts owed from a 3-day long, high-stakes poker game in October.

Hmm, deja vu...

I believe you, cause I have a landlady like that. She manages 85 properties (mostly single family homes) but still remembers you and which one you live in if you run into her somewhere. If something's broken, there is somebody there THAT DAY, even if it is minor. If it is something minor that you can do yourself (for example, the thermostat shiat the bed earlier this winter and I just replaced it), you don't need to ask first, just take care of it,bring the receipt for whatever you had to buy to her office and she will cut you a check right then and give you a rent break the next month for your trouble.

So much better than some of the scumbags I've rented from in the past, and they are just like lawyers...99% of them make the other 1% look bad.

There are two economies.  And the below ground one is chocked full of slimy, hateful, greedy bastards who use people like pack animals, slaves or blood hosts for their leeching.  And if you take a look at it, that economy has been steadily moving upchain from beer joint back rooms and ghetto walk ups to Wall St. for a long while.  This guy was just a weasel fronting dumps and kiting invoices.  All the successful criminals have nice houses in the Hamptons and BMWs and Wall St. offices.

Or Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Mo Dalitz, Arthur Flegenheimer aka Dutch Shultz, Louis Lepke Burchalter, Mickey Cohen, etc., etc. A fairly impressive collection of really bad men from a group of people that usually aren't stereotyped that way in the popular culture, unlike, say Italians.

buckler: I try really, really hard not to be prejudicial, but when I was in NYC, the Hasidic Jews made it difficult.

When I was in college I had a Hasidic Jew as a roommate for one summer.  Easily the worst person I've ever lived with, and I lived with a fundamentalist Muslim AND fundie Christian for an entire year.  I don't think all Hasidim are like that, but there's a certain amount of obnoxiousness that comes with being a fundamentalist anything.  He was just the worst about it.

There were a LOT Jewish gangsters in the '20s and '30s (Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, the Purple Gang in Detroit, etc., etc., etc.), but very few passed the business along to their kids. Also, dumbasses who spraypaint swastikas on Jewish-owned buildings frequently do them backwards, because they are mouth-breathing retards.

I mean, sure, there are Jewish gangsters, just like there are Irish, German and English-descended gangsters, but it's hardly a trend.

Believe what you like - it was common knowledge, at least when I was growing up, that the "mafia" in DC was Jewish.  See "Growing Up Jewish in the Mob" by Cohan - from the book cover "~~Growing Up Jewish In The Mob is about a girl growing up in Washington, DC, as a Jewish American Princess in the mafia.  She is a Daddy's girl but reality sets in when the FBI and DC Cops come calling."

I'm sure you'll 'poopoo' this as not being "real" mafia, or whatever, because it's not New Yawk and the 5 families, but, yeah, it was a trend for much of the 20th century (my CSB was from the 70's - and those guys were old;  old enough to have been "OGs" from the prohibition era).

CSB indeed, but you'd think that the one group who would know which way swastikas point would be Jewish folks of a vintage to have been at least adolescents during WW2.  The white supremacists in this country are generally ignint enough to get that fundamental thing wrong.
