Got some ice cream in the freezer.  Want some?

Yeah!!!

What about bear season?

Bears can get their own ice cream.

Love the bear warning, and shudder to think what that really entails.  I got all "omg, it's a deer!" when I went to the cemetery today, and there were 2 of them down there.

Juneau has about 35,000 people and around 10,000 black bears.  The island just west of the one I live on has over 1,000 brown bears on 1,000 square miles, and the brown bears in this area have more DNA in common with polar bears than they do the brown bears in the rest of the north american continent.

It may have been Elmore. They were playing around the Delta during the time before RJ's recordings. RJ recorded many songs that were influenced by earlier artists.

Love Sly... Always enjoy this song..

That's scary.
Polar bears that have been injured by hunters have tracked the hunter 75 miles, walked into town at night, killed THAT hunter, and walked back home.

Bathia_Mapes: xanadian: bear report?

Yep, but moreso in the warmer months. There are laws in Juneau about keeping garbage inaccessible to bears. And occasionally a bear is spotted on Juneau's main street too.

We've got rules like that in some of our parks around here. We were camping in Alleghany State park a few years back and my then-wife and I forgot to secure a cooler outside. Raccoons got into it and strew food everywhere. I heard some loud scratching coming from the great room of the cabin and investigated. Shined a flashlight through a window and who was looking right back at me? A big black bear about a foot away. Hello! He was attracted by the food the damn raccoons were partying with. He left after about an hour and we remembered to secure our supplies in the future.

This happened last spring in Juneau. The bear grabbed a live chicken and took it to a neighboring home where it proceeded to eat it on a lady's front porch.

Makes sense too. Bears get too familiar & fond of human food become nuisance bears that often have to be destroyed. And that generally happens because people outright feed them even though it's against the rules, or the food isn't secure properly. From what I understand the former is the biggest problem.
