Eagles had a hell of a season. Most diehard fans gave them a 6-6 season at best. For chip to walk in and make an offense work that ESPN said would never work in the NFL is awesome. Nevermind making it to the playoffs. His coaching style is such a breath of fresh air to Andy's conservative pass game.

And for farks sake we actually have a running game we can depend on, Andy ignored McCoy to disgusting levels. Chip plays him and the motherfarker gets the rushing title.

RickyWilliams'sBong: I'd call that a pretty solid first run for Chip Kelly.

So does the majority of the Philly faithful.  You'll hear a vocal minority whine about this season, but the simple fact is that none of us expected to win the NFC East, let alone finish with a winning record.

/and Kelly did this with Reid's team that went 4-12 last year

lordjupiter: Dammit, Reid!  We're tired of always making the playoffs and then getting knocked out!  YOU'RE FIRED!!

*call on line 1 from Mr. Reid*

It wasn't the playoff losses, but the fact he lost them in the same way every single year, Reid and the front office never made any changes. No running game, no quality receiver, too many passing plays, a fanatical devotion to salary discipline, bad clock management and an inflexibility to make in-game adjustments that shows up on the autism spectrum. And this happened for over a decade!

Reid is a solid coach, the best coach in Eagles' history one of the better coaches in the last 20 years, but his teams never overachieved. He was never able to get more from his players than what they had on paper. That's what separates the great coaches from the good ones.

Think about it, nobody expected the Chiefs to win yesterday, Vegas had them at +1.5, they lost by 2. Typical Reid performance.

I think if they improve their defense, especially that secondary (first round pick or sign a good free agent to play safety... Chung has GOT to go), they'll should be back in the playoffs again next year. And with Foles having another year of experience, they'll be even better offensively.

whizbangthedirtfarmer: MBrady: glave27: What a weird day of football. Both Andy Reid teams lose close ones, KC blows a 28 pt lead, and the winning teams went -5 combined in turnovers.

I didn't realize that a coach could coach 2 nfl teams at the same time?  what happens if they were scheduled to play each other?

gotta love his clock management skills at the 2 min warning of the 4th quarter.

Yeah, see, I don't get the criticism here.  It was off the two-minute warning.  They only have one timeout.  It's fourth down.  If they don't get it, then the Colts get the ball, kneel down, the Chiefs call a time-out, and then the Colts win.  If they burn the time-out, the Chiefs fail to convert, the Colts kneel down, and the Colts win.

So, I didn't see why calling a timeout there was bad.  The Colts' D may have given the team a look that negated the play they were going to call.  But, either way, the timeout didn't, and wouldn't have, mattered.

If they had kept the timeout and not converted on 4th down, the Colts would have had to get a first down to run out the clock.  If the Chiefs defense held, they would have time for another desperation drive for a FG.  So calling that timeout was huge, and stupid.  Vintage Andy Reid.

I said to my son at the beginning of the season I'd be happy with 6-10 and Vick gone for either Foles or Barkley.  Yeah, it would have been nice to see that score reversed, but seriously, any Eagles fan complaining about this season is on crack

-Last to first in the NFC East, got a home playoff game
-Foles looks not only serviceable but actually good
-McCoy is possibly the best back in the NFL when you actually give him the ball
-The O line has really stepped up (and avoided injuries), the D-line looks promising
-The team seems to respect Kelly
-They knocked Dallas out of the playoffs

This team has a lot of young talent and the holes that it has (primarily in the secondary) are patchable in the offseason.  The NFC East looks winnable for the next few years- Dallas has problems beyond Romo, the Giants need serious help and Manning the Lesser to fix his game, and the Racial Slurs are a dumpster fire.

I don't know if they need better coverage linebackers more, or safties that can close distance quicker (and tackle).  Not sure I'm sold on the 3-4 quite yet.  Any way, the team is headed in the right direction. for sure.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: It was a good game -- got home at about 2:30AM -- and it wasn't even that cold out.

After last year's debacle I'm just glad Andy's gone, Vick is the backup and the Eagles hosted a home playoff game.

I'm surprised you posted that as early as you did. I was ready for the Arctic last night.  Just glad it wasn't windy, but the high 20's wasn't too bad.

We had our chances last night.  Credit to Brees and the Saints for their first road playoff game ever in front of a loud and hostile crowd.

Looking back on this season, last night's last second loss sucked.  But to turn around the same team that went 4-12 last year and go 10-6 in the regular season with a rookie coach and win the NFC East is pretty impressive.  This team is only going to get better.

So many highlights, so many things to complain about.  But all in all, the Philadelphia Eagles had a great season.

Next year, guys.

I can't hate too bad on the Saints, they are a good team.

The Eagles couldn't stop the run the entire game. I had a bad feeling when Mark Ingram went for something like 19 yards on the first play from scrimmage.

There are some good players on defense, but not enough, and they need to get better. Boykin sometimes looks like the second coming of Brian Dawkins, and Ryans and Barwin have played really well. All in all, I'm happy with the season--it's a huge improvement over last year and there's plenty of reason to be excited for next year.

Yup. Heck, I'm just glad that they have a team that I'm excited about again. Win or lose, I think I watched more football this year than the previous 4 years combined.

Hard to have a 6-6 season when they play 16 games... that's impressive.

Yeah.. I typed that half asleep just waking up... I saw it like I saw most of my other typos, grammar mistakes and mispellings.

As soon as I hit submit.

What? No. Vick will be the QB next year.

It's the Eagles we are talking about here, buddy.

Nope. Vick has even declared to the press he wouldn't mind developing his clipboard holding skills further during next season. Foles is the starter, and the backup is not too bad - I know Vick has issues, but I'd rather have Vick than, say, Seneca Wallace.
