Here Comes Everybody: sammyk: sotua: Marcellinus: SilentStrider: harleyquinnical: To be fair, it was a really good game.  Not sure if the Eagles soared too high or not high enough.

I think if they improve their defense, especially that secondary (first round pick or sign a good free agent to play safety... Chung has GOT to go), they'll should be back in the playoffs again next year. And with Foles having another year of experience, they'll be even better offensively.

What? No. Vick will be the QB next year.

It's the Eagles we are talking about here, buddy.

Nope. Vick has even declared to the press he wouldn't mind developing his clipboard holding skills further during next season. Foles is the starter, and the backup is not too bad - I know Vick has issues, but I'd rather have Vick than, say, Seneca Wallace.

Vick has never been able to finish a season uninjured. For that reason above all else he is not a starter. I'm betting the Iggles let Vick go then draft a QB late and let him compete with Barkley for the 2nd spot.

While Vick has been (relatively) cool with being demoted this year, he's also now telling the press that he's not interested in coming back as a backup. And there are enough teams out there with desperate quarterback situations that he can probably find one willing to roll the dice and play him as a starter. So, next year some other fanbase can chew their fingernails hoping Vick stays intact for enough of the season.

If Vick leaves, I hope the Eagles can get a veteran QB cheap to take over clipboard-holding duties. Barkley looked very much not ready for prime time when he came on the field this season.

Since Vick is going to be a free agent, I see little chance that the Eagles are going to re-sign him to be an expensive backup.  As far as Barkley, he came in green and was the third string QB who saw very little snaps with the first team.  I'll give him a pass on his few appearances in prime-time this year.

whizbangthedirtfarmer: AdmirableSnackbar: whizbangthedirtfarmer: MBrady: glave27: What a weird day of football. Both Andy Reid teams lose close ones, KC blows a 28 pt lead, and the winning teams went -5 combined in turnovers.

I didn't realize that a coach could coach 2 nfl teams at the same time?  what happens if they were scheduled to play each other?

gotta love his clock management skills at the 2 min warning of the 4th quarter.

Yeah, see, I don't get the criticism here.  It was off the two-minute warning.  They only have one timeout.  It's fourth down.  If they don't get it, then the Colts get the ball, kneel down, the Chiefs call a time-out, and then the Colts win.  If they burn the time-out, the Chiefs fail to convert, the Colts kneel down, and the Colts win.

So, I didn't see why calling a timeout there was bad.  The Colts' D may have given the team a look that negated the play they were going to call.  But, either way, the timeout didn't, and wouldn't have, mattered.

If they had kept the timeout and not converted on 4th down, the Colts would have had to get a first down to run out the clock.  If the Chiefs defense held, they would have time for another desperation drive for a FG.  So calling that timeout was huge, and stupid.  Vintage Andy Reid.

Meh, there's stupid Andy Reid calls and then there's this one.  So, let's say that Reid doesn't use the time out, but the Chiefs still fail to convert.  The Colts HAVE to get a first down to run out the clock, but the Chiefs defense has been horrible since the half.  So, the Colts run a play, get stuffed, second down.  Chiefs call time out.  Probably 1:40 left.  Colts run another play.  1:00 left  Third down.  Colts bleed the clock for the punt.  :20 seconds to kickoff, another 5 or 6, and then the Chiefs have the ball somewhere deep in their own territory with maybe :13 seconds left (VERY generous) and no timeouts.

This, of course, completely assumes that the Chiefs could have stopped the Colts at any point in time, which was very un ...

Well, at least in one of those scenarios the Chiefs have a chance to win if they failed to convert the 4th down.

And then there's the fact that they only had one timeout left at that point despite being so far ahead throughout most of the 2nd half.  It's just another timeout in a long, long, long list of timeouts that Reid has wasted in his career that came back to bite him in the ass.

They better stick with the changes to Popeye's and green Gatorade, lol, keep that mojo going.

Like I said in the game thread, great game Eagles fans, could've gone either way, seems like the future's bright.  BIG exhale after that kick went through, lol.

It's very bad to drink Jobu's rum, very bad.

MugzyBrown: lordjupiter: Dammit, Reid! We're tired of always making the playoffs and then getting knocked out! YOU'RE FIRED!!

*call on line 1 from Mr. Reid*

Andy missed the playoffs two straight years and finished 4-12 last year

Komplex: lordjupiter: Dammit, Reid!  We're tired of always making the playoffs and then getting knocked out!  YOU'RE FIRED!!

*call on line 1 from Mr. Reid*

It wasn't the playoff losses, but the fact he lost them in the same way every single year, Reid and the front office never made any changes. No running game, no quality receiver, too many passing plays, a fanatical devotion to salary discipline, bad clock management and an inflexibility to make in-game adjustments that shows up on the autism spectrum. And this happened for over a decade!

Reid is a solid coach, the best coach in Eagles' history one of the better coaches in the last 20 years, but his teams never overachieved. He was never able to get more from his players than what they had on paper. That's what separates the great coaches from the good ones.

Think about it, nobody expected the Chiefs to win yesterday, Vegas had them at +1.5, they lost by 2. Typical Reid performance.

iron_city_ap: lordjupiter: Dammit, Reid!  We're tired of always making the playoffs and then getting knocked out!  YOU'RE FIRED!!

Is that the same Andy Reid who got knocked out of the playoffs yesterday, or a different one?

Guys...that's the POINT.  Philly got tired of Reid getting close to a SB but not delivering.  Then Reid was let go because it was thought he had lost his ability to even get that far.  Then he took a bad Chiefs organization and pushed them to the playoffs in the first year before choking away a big league in a historic game plagued by injuries.

Meanwhile, the Eagles win a terrible NFC East in the last game of the entire season, and then choke away homefield advantage in the final seconds to a team that has NEVER won a playoff game on the road.

It's hilarious in its symmetry with a bit of irony.  End result: same for everyone as before.

TheManofPA: Misconduc: Woah wait a minute, ESPN said Phillies would win by 6. Is this the same guy who said Alabama would win by 7 against "Auburn" as of the other day against "auburn" in a rematch? You know...even though auburn already BEAT alabama, and now phillies got beat?

I'm pretty sure the Phillies can take game 2 in the series. Then they just have to take one back in NO and they'll have home field advantage again

I was mocking the fact ESPN were going nuts over the Phillies, claiming they were going to win with no problems. And this is why I don't bother even listening to the idiots trying to dissect football games, then again I am not to much into pro football, I much rather watch college.

According to ESPN it was a blowout, apparently thats not how the game played out :)

And you were being mocked because you keep referring to the Eagles as the Philly based baseball team.

Choke away homefield in the final seconds?  Huh?

Also, these stupid trends that encompass years (if not the entire history of the team) are meaningless considering the turnover in player personnel year after year.

except for the abc local saying, "road to destiny" and "superbowl bound"

and when the local sports reporters say that "the offense did not execute."  don't give the Saints defense any credit, right?   and that fans were "heartbroken."   How can they be heartbroken when all that was expected was to maybe go 6-10?

And, as a Saints fan, I can say that means they probably stand a better chance of scoring next fall. If you know what I mean, and I think you do.

I don't know, I think it's all uphill for the Eagles. They look like they have a lot of potential. I don't think anyone expected miracles this year. It's hard to be patient, and it's hard to say maybe next year, but, hey, maybe next year.

I suspect. Some people missed the cut of my jib.

I've had fond disdain for the Eagles since shortly after Jaworski left.

I think it was around the time of the Ryan and Cunningham show when the comedy began.

Great season from the Eagles, picks up Philly fans' spirits after a dismal 2012-2013 season from all four teams.
