As a Broncos fab whip wanted to see the chefs vs Broncos next week I was dissapointed that the Broncos couldn't beat then at home. But then I realized it's the chefs, so I laughed and laughed...

I got home and saw the score at halftime and never bothered to follow the 2nd half like planned. Still in shock the Colts won this one.

Lets take a timeout after the Two-Minute Warning.... BRILLIANT!!! I wish Andy Reid still coached in the NFC East because, he's a clock management Wizard.

That was kinda nuts when chiefs were dropping left and right. Considering the hits didn't look that bad at all.

For the fans, yes indeed. For the actual Chiefs team, they should be embarrassed that they blew a 28 point lead. Absolutely inexcusable.

I don't have a problem with it.  It's 4th down.  Your last chance.  If your look is shiatty, you need to fix it.  If you convert that 4th down, you're incredibly close to if not in field goal range.  Having no timeouts is not much of a problem then.

Alex Smith has one of the best games of his career, and loses. Andrew Luck turns the ball over 3 times and wins... Football today is so...odd...

Don't blame Cassel. He was blossoming in New England and we all would have been fine with him as our QB for the next ten years if Brady couldn't come back from his knee injury. You broke him.

I'm hoping that was a joke because man, that sucks for Smith.

Though when they had the ball up 41-38, it was obvious that they were going to kick a FG and the Colts were going to score the game-winning TD. Didn't think it would happen with 4+ minutes to go, though.

Too bad Dwayne Bowe didn't leave some damn space on the sideline for Smith to fit the ball in like a good WR would. You're way bigger than the DB! Muscle him over! Yeesh, dummy.

/and the Reid timeout was laughable, but realistically it didn't matter much in that spot, since their only chance was that one possession

Some thoughts:

- By my count we were down 3 pro-bowlers at the end, plus a starting WR and backup RB? Never seen anything like that in my life. If Jamaal hadn't gotten hurt, I really do think it's a different 2nd half.
- Is Dunta Robinson cut yet? Because Dunta Robinson should be cut.
- Stop with the "Andy Reid timeouts LOL" crap. Both those timeouts were to prevent 5 yard penalties in crucial situations. Plus, did Reid even take them? Looked like it was Smith in both cases.

I was yelling at the TV that they should go for it there instead of kicking the FG. It was obvious the Chiefs weren't going to stop Luck the rest of the night, might as well try to win the game there rather than waiting to down at your own 20 with less time.

It wasn't Smith's fault as much as it was the defense's fault. Smith actually did pretty well.

Injuries happen to every team and occur during the games. However, did anyone see what Andy Reid did to the football gods to cause them to strike down his team with such fury and vengeance?  Sometimes it's just not your night and as the Chiefs kept adapting and putting up points more and more players were struck down. They still barely missed having a chance for the winning field goal off the sideline by Bowe but of course he allowed himself to be pushed out.

If you asked any Chief's fan what they thought the outcome would be losing Jamaal Charles in the opening few minutes, I doubt they would have suggested such a high scoring game.  I am thankful it was competitive and interesting toward the end given the adversity the Chiefs had to go through. Of course they are upset, but nearly pulled it off.  Of course almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Even if they did pull it off, the injuries suffered may have crippled them moving forward.

I'm sure Coach Reid will note that he's gotta have to do a better job.

This.  If you score 44 points and lose, the problem is likely not the QB.

Smith went for 378 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs (although he did have the fumble), another 57 yards on the ground, and put up 44 points.  Oh, and he did that on the road and missing a guy that accounted for a full third of the Chiefs offense during the regular season.

But yeah, that loss is totally on him and not on the second half defense that redefined "epic fail".

Oddly enough, people kept blaming McNabb for the exact same thing - having to waste a TO because there was only 2 left on the play clock and the offense wasn't set. And then it would happen with McNabb's backups. And then Vick.

Maybe there's another problem? Such as the play calls not getting in on time, or being so confusing that the QB has no clue what's going on until it's too late?

The teams are back on the field now following the two minute warning. The Chiefs, under Andy Reid, are going to use their final time out to talk things over.

Smith could hardly have played better.  30/46 for 378 and 4 TDs with 0 INTs.  How much more performance do you want out of your quarterback?

If you're really a 49ers fan, you're just bitter because Harbaugh was dumb enough to let the better quarterback go.  Yes, that's right:  Smith > Kaepernick.  WTF did Kaepernick do this season to impress you, besides lead the NFL's least productive passing offense into the playoffs on the coattails of a great running game and a great defense?  The bicep-kissing man just isn't all that, as you'll find out over the course of the next season or two, until he's cut and moves onto some other team as a second-rate backup.

Smith played a great game and didn't choke at all.  The football gods, for some reason, struck with furious vengeance against the Chiefs today, and for a while I thought the injuries might never end.  Can't remember the last time I saw such a string of damage leveled against a single team in the course of a single game.  If the Chiefs had somehow survived today to fight another game, they would have been going into next weekend seriously depleted.  I suppose that's Smith's fault too?

That was a bummer. The Chiefs have have been without a playoff win for almost as long as Detroit. That said, the video here is troubling. How has Eric Allen aged so much? He's not nearly as old as he looks.

One of the few good things about living in the NE KS area is watching Chiefs fans leap off bridges and self-immolate after games like this. Their tears are not quite as delicious as those of THE Ohio State University's fans, but it's close.

Yes you ARE a Dumb Ass Monkey...  Smith and Co. put up 38 points!   At that point it's up to the defense to hold the freakin' lead.   But, you did say you are a Whiner's fan, so I accept your limited knowledge of the game.  Plus extra points to you since I didn't have a crayon font when I wrote this for you.

2014-01-04 11:19:36 PM
See, it wouldn't be so bad if the Chiefs just lost.  No, they have to punch you in the dick on the way out.  Eventually though, your dick starts getting numb, so they have to find new and creative ways to punch you in the dick.  I'm becoming more and more convinced that there is an Elder God living under Arrowhead Stadium and the only way to keep him satiated is to feed him schadenfreude.

2014-01-04 11:22:19 PM
And anyone blaming Alex Smith is a damn moron.  That guy has fought all year long.  The only thing he did wrong today was the fumble and that was because his line kept letting the Colts defense through.  Smith could only scramble away or shovel pass so many times before something went wrong.  No, this game is on the secondary.  Once again, they were completely clueless, missing their assignments, being out of position and getting straight up beaten on routes.  The Chiefs D was even getting a pass rush today.  How you force 4 turnovers and blow a 28 point lead I will never know.
