And he hasn't filed to drop his Candian citizenship because he can't prove he's a citizen of another country. That's all he needs to do. Just prove his mother lived in The Uited States for at least 10 years before he was born. c'mon....Do it. The paperwork would take less than an afternoon to do, and one of his staffers could fill it out for him. Just come up with the documentation to prove that you are a citizen of  a country other than Canada.

My favourite part of this is Canadian lawyers openly trolling Cruz to get him to renounce his Canadian citizenship.  Love it.

The forms are online.  Conrad Black can even advise on filling them out.  And you don't have to leave part of your fortune behind when you leave.

FTFA: Even though law works the same way in both countries, Cruz has said the news that he possessed dual citizenship came as a surprise to both him and his parents earlier this year.  The lawmaker insists his mother was told when he was a child that her boy would have to take affirmative action to claim Canadian citizenship.Kurland said he is skeptical."He's a Harvard-educated lawyer so what's the problem? It's elementary."

Glad to see a little more critical followup on this.

This experience will surely make him more sympathetic to other illegal immigrants who were erroneously told by their parents that they were American citizens. Right?

Some day, and that day will come, young Eduardo will be able to  to stand proud and look at himself and say "I am a man."
And the world will hear of his people's suffering.

Richard Kurland, a Vancouver-based immigration attorney, wonders what's taking so long. Kurland said Friday that unless there's a security or mental health issue that hasn't been disclosed, renouncing citizenship is a simple, quick process.

As far as I'm aware Bush is not an attorney. He got an MBA or something.

The birther narrative is not impaired by silly things like logic, facts, or reality. It is instead fueled by feelings, beliefs, and fantasy. It is primarily a delusion of paranoia. Just as the birthers were (are?) absolutely certain of the irrefutable proof that President Obama bamboozled his way into office, they will likewise invent irrefutable proof that Ted Cruz is a perfect and valid candidate. It helps when you make up your shiat as you go, after all.

If the candidate is white and has the letter "R" beside his/her name, then that makes him a true WASP; a rebel against the multiculturalism of the country.

If the candidate does not have a "R" beside his/her name, then he/she is an uppidy. elitist, out of touch Liberal.

I really don't care what country he's a citizen of--what I'm waiting for is for Ted Cruz to fall face first into a rotary saw.

Look, Ted...how can I break this to you gently? You're a nice kid who is a credit to your race, but we simply aren't going to vote for you for President. That's reaching just a bit too high. Keep doing your outstanding work keeping proper white folks on top in Texas and I am confident we can get you reelected...maybe even Governor. But President of the United States? Sorry, not in the cards. No "real conservative" is going to vote for you.

It's not just consecutive years, but also when. His mom needs to have done the ten years before the age of 19. Otherwise, Mr. Ted is *gasp* an undocumented alien resident.

/can't wait for this to play out. I want to see him take the naturalization oath and watch his chances for the Presidency go up in House immigration so-called-reform

He's a Senator from Texas. He's going to be one of the longest serving Government employees by the time he finally retires from that position. He could choose something more lucrative, but I have a feeling this fellow will stick with us for a long time to come.

he's still a dual US-Canadian citizen

That's fine and dandy being a dual citizen, but he still can't prove he's a natural citizen to be president. Love watching the right praise him though.

I haven't met any serious Americans who feel that either Obama or Cruz are president-eligible natural born citizens.  Cruz is certainly worthy of his senate seat, though. I'd like to see him voted as Speaker of the House, especially since his senate seat would be safe for Republicans. The House can vote to give him the job despite his not being a rep, by the way.

You say that like you find the claim incredulous, yet you offer no other explanation.

I would love to hear any other explanation why you or anyone else thinks it's not the case. Cause one guy was accused of not being born here with no proof and the other has loads of proof that he in fact was not born here, but no one seems to be that bothered by it.

Except one glaring difference that is, but since you obviously know the real reason don't keep the rest if us in suspense

You spelled "hypocritical" wrong. From family values people who divorce to anti-gays who are in fact gay to Spiro "the problem in this country is soft judges" Agnew begging to not be disbarred on and on to ignoring Ted Cruz's country of birth.

All the latin-american illegals I run into, occasionally stepping on their anchor babies, are really short. How tall is Ted Cruz? Hillary is 5'7", and it's acceptable for women to wear an inch or two of heel. Simply put, a short guy never wins. That's why Romney was such a threat, he's got an inch on Obama, but that's pretty close.

But if you meant that the way you said it, wouldn't that preclude Cruz being Speaker of House and in the line of presidential succession?
