West Ham, you suck.

When the best player in your side is Stewart Downing, you know you're in trouble.

Five-nil, and West Ham are lucky to have nil.

Forest turning back the clock here. This is a beating and a half. Big Sam should be embarrassed by this.

Why are they doing the draw before the rest of today's games?

FIFA/UEFA are you taking notes?

This is how you do a draw. No fluff or filler just get on with it

Lower league opposition! Hooray! Now don't lose to Swansea.

It's interesting though.  I didn't see any huge Prem v. Prem ties in the draw.

Lots of opportunity for upsets.

Bournemouth or Burton v Liverpool or Oldham

I like Burton v Liverpool here, I don't see Oldham getting the double upset, especially if Suarez feels like starting today.

Arguably, we could do without the distraction of the FA Cup...

Liverpool, in the 4th round last year. We're trying to avoid it being two years in a row.

For a change that's actually an even-sided draw. No fixtures that look like they're purpose-picked. Highlights are Martin Allen's cardigan, and a potential Bristol vs Manchester double fixture for Round 4. Provided we beat Watford, and also  provided Rovers beat Crawley and then Birmingham in the next week or two.

And Sam Allardyce just pulled a verbal Budd Dwyer.

They took down Man City a few years ago, Liverpool more recently and nearly got Everton last year(? - might have been the year before)

All I want out of Swansea's a good fight. They played well against City and Chelsea.

2014-01-05 09:26:52 AM
Jones, Kelly, Cissokho, Toure, Agger, Gerrard, Henderson, Alberto, Sterling, Moses, Aspas

Interesting, Captain Fantastic makes a start and we have Aspas up front. Not sure about Hendo in the holding role, but here's hoping it works out.

He's still working his way back to fitness, isn't he? Wouldn't be surprised if he only goes an hour today.

FWIW I often think Rooney should play the same role for Utd that Gerrard does for Liverpool.

So, if the MIGHTY Oxford United get past Charlton on Wednesday they get to travel to Huddersfield for the 4th round.

/I can live with that.

He is, so I guess this is a good time as any to get some playing time in. To be honest, I'm thinking this is the beginning of the end for Stevie, we need some younger legs where he plays. He needs to train up Hendo to be him.

Rooney is a striker by trade, he won't go for being a deep playmaker.

Some people can stomach it. Raul played attacking midfielder during the Galactico era.

Thinking about it, he wouldn't. Raul probably only budged because it was Ronaldo taking the striker spot. No one would take Rooney out of his spot.

Derby defending for dear life.

Rationally I know you guys are right. It just frustrates me that Utd are so effective when he does that, directing traffic and passing it around, always with the threat to run at defenders, with RvP up top and a poacher like Chicharito or Welbeck in behind him.

Langston: socalnewwaver: so sunday we've got liverpool, chelsea, swansea, and a bunch of small teams playing.

My headline, I mainly was talking about matchups. If Liverpool were facing Man United (or Everton) today, and Arsenal had been playing Preston North End yesterday, I'd have called the Liverpool one as the game to watch. I mainly was looking at matchups with more Premier League teams facing each other or teams from the Championship. I should have mentioned United because they're facing Swansea, but Liverpool is facing Oldham Athletic and Chelsea is facing Derby County. Both sides will be putting out secondary squads and lots of youth players today to keep the starters fresh.

relax, i was merely having a go at the mancs by not including them in the list of big clubs.

/guess it was too subtle
//or no one noticed they were left off the list because they don't belong there in the first place ;-)

Moyes should use this more often. It's deadly. This is the most dangerous I've seen Rooney in a couple years; he ran six miles when he played us at Old Trafford.

Just realized this is the first match I've heard Ian Darke commentate for. Now I get why you guys miss him. He's pretty good.

Ahh, got it. I'd have recognized it as banter if you hadn't also mentioned Liverpool and Chelsea. Cheers

Jose's gonna be pissed if this ends up being a draw. He won't like being in the same situation at City, having to play an extra match.

Me, too.

Also, listening to Liverpool on a stream, but it sounds like the Reds just can't find a final touch against Oldham.
