No Soldado anymore... But who will take Spurs' undeserved late-game peno now??

Why keep putting a left back on the pitch when you have better options on the bench?

Good to be wrong once in a while! And I didn't know Fox (proper) showed the FA Cup

Nice to see a "full strength squad" for a non-BPL non-CL match

LOL Walker trying to get a peno less than doing the exact same thing in his own box two minutes earlier

It's a new thing since they lost the BPL rights in America, I suspect.

They've had the rights for a few years now. It's just since they've lost the PL, they've had to run with it and their CL coverage.

They showed the final on Fox for the last couple of years. But I think this is the 1st year they've shown an earlier match on Fox proper. I'm almost certain that has everything to do with losing EPL rights.

I was in London for 3 years until June, so this is all new to me. Very glad to see!

C'mon, no Walcott injury in the closing minutes of this walkover of a match :(

LucklessWonder: desertgeek: LucklessWonder: The MIGHTY Oxford United's FA Cup 3rd Round game against Charlton Athletic has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at The Valley. It's the 2nd or 3rd postponement in a row for the MIGHTY ones. Helps heal niggling injuries but it feels like forever since OUFC won a match...

It's one of 4 postponements today, all for waterlogged pitches. That includes a long delayed 2nd round replay.

In calendar terms The Crawley / R*v*rs leg is now a complete round behind i.e. there'll be three names on the draw ball tomorrow. If it gets held off any further something has to happen surely.

As far as the better half of Bristol, I'm happy with 1-1 especially as both goals happened inside a minute and we finished white-hot.

Isn't The Best Striker in the World still on the Gunners? Or is he hurt too?

For the hell of it: class.

Back when they still had the EPL rights Fox would occasionally show a very high-profile match on broadcast, sometimes a repeat from an earlier live broadcast on (what was then) FSC. But it was not a regular occurrence.

Maybe also related to the fact that NBC has football today and Fox doesn't, so trying to capture some sports viewers today?

Got hurt scoring the winner on Cardiff.

Oh, fantastic.

On a random note, I was kinda hoping Honda would sign with someone in the EPL, just so I could watch him play more often.

Well, can't argue with the result.  Spurs made too many mistakes and Arsenal took advantage of them.  At least they tried.   Maybe now Tottenham can concentrate on the PL.

2014-01-04 02:06:53 PM
Well don't worry Spurs fans, now you can focus on the Europa League, and getting back to the Europa League next year.

He's hurt, too. I think that technically, Arsenal currently have more injured players than healthy ones.

Nice match for the neutral, though having read a lot about Spurs in the past few weeks but not having watched them since before Christmas, it was a bit disappointing. Rosicky needs to stop playing so well - the talk just started up again about him returning to Sparta Prague but not the way he's playing.

That Theo Walcott bit to the Spurs end made me laugh, though.

The FA Cup TV rights are negotiated separately. It was on terrestrial TV here (Czech) but you can't even watch the EPL with basic cable unless you buy Sky Sports packages.

It was a packed house at the pub with more Spurs supporters than Arsenal supporters and a fun time was had except for the score of course.  Arsenal deserved it, Spurs were poor.  The Europa league is nothing to scoff at and I hope that Spurs really go for it and that they get some of their many, many injured players back soon.

It was their cup final. Ended up with Van Persie and Carrick out for a long time. Totally worth it.

All of this is fun to talk about, but honestly nothing matters until the boys are hoisting some silverware.

And the Bundesliga, the only European league that had any chance of having parity close to England, is down to just Bayern Munich. Lewandoski signed, he's out at BVB. Don't these other leagues look at the TV ratings for EPL and realize they can't be a two-team dog and pony show?

I really am surprised.  When one team vacuums up all the talent, it kills the league.

Do yourself a favor and pick up Marina Sirtis tweeting during the match. It is a hoot.

Oh, I'd love to see Marina Sirtis' tweets.

Not now you wouldn't. She looked old and fat when she guest-starred on NCIS.

socalnewwaver: so sunday we've got liverpool, chelsea, swansea, and a bunch of small teams playing.

My headline, I mainly was talking about matchups. If Liverpool were facing Man United (or Everton) today, and Arsenal had been playing Preston North End yesterday, I'd have called the Liverpool one as the game to watch. I mainly was looking at matchups with more Premier League teams facing each other or teams from the Championship. I should have mentioned United because they're facing Swansea, but Liverpool is facing Oldham Athletic and Chelsea is facing Derby County. Both sides will be putting out secondary squads and lots of youth players today to keep the starters fresh.
