The stabbing happened in the 6200 block of Seven Corners Center, near the Home Depot in a shopping center that anchors the neighborhood.

That Home Depot is the same one that was the scene of one of the random DC Sniper shootings back in 2002.

//that's the shopping center with my Dogfish Head restaurant, I'll stab somebody if they mess with that place. Stupid 12 year old snitch.

This is almost as bad as the "get elected on a vague platform of progressive hope and change and then take office and subsidize Wall Street and Detroit while prosecuting no bankers and continuing illegal wars worldwide as well as spying on American citizens while keeping Gitmo open contrary to what you promised" game

That one is REALLY harmful.

Adding the word "Game" to a string of random assaults and murders only makes a popular fashion if the word "Game" is followed by "of Thrones" or preceded by "Angry Birds". And even then, most of the fashionables are adults and not teenagers.

Right across the street is a heavily Hispanic low income apartment complex / bario. This has MS-13 written all over it, as they are active in that neighborhood. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Years ago I drove over to Va. Beach to meet some friends at a bar/club. Had to park a few blocks back, and as I was walking towards the beach a group of teens was gathered to the side of the street. One of them jogged off in the direction I was walking, then circled around and walked back my way on the same sidewalk I was on.

As soon as he got near me he took this huge swing at me. Had I not seen the stupid kids plotting and his retarded effort to look like he was just casually walking down the street he could very well have knocked the sh*t out of me.

Based on size/weight, he probably could've kicked the sh*t out of me in a fight  anyways, but he and his whole group fled like a bunch of p*ssies.

in all seriousness, are we not allowed to turn the main page into a quasi-political discussion?  if that's the case i'll stop, but it's my understanding while a political comment would be inappropriate on the sports page, it's allowable on the main page.  or is the main page only for doge memes and my little pony references?

if so, then about 60% of the submissions to the main page should be moved over to politics so we can actually have a substantive exchange rather than reposted gifs from the chive.

Some assume that the suspects zeroed in on the boy because of an altercation, but investigators say they don't know of any connection between the assailants and the victim.

Among the scenarios officials are examining are whether or not they attacked the wrong person; that could explain why the suspects fled so quickly, authorities say.

Substance!

Some say he was stabbed for smuggling dinosaur bones, others allege that the victim was resented for his overly large dong.

why are you replying using only a photo of some poor kid who just learned her parents need to pay 400% higher premiums because of obamacare?  move that shiat over to politics where it belongs.

Let's see, you post a comment using tired political flame bait talking points which are lacking in both style and substance, have no substantiation nor any reasonable link between your vague dislike of the president and this incident; and then when called on it, post a demand for "substantive discussion"?

Maybe I slept through that class, but when exactly did...any of your post's grossly oversimplified vagueries constitute anything but the linguistic equivalent of throwing sand in your opponent's face?

Campaigning on a theme of hope and change: because his campaign theme has so much to do with his exact intentions, and somehow can override the glaring facts of life presented by having several hundred representatives all with their own agendas bucking to make law.

Bailing out the automotive companies: this started with Bush, and considering that the automotive industry counts for a sizable chunk of our manufacturing and such, had some basis in reality. Even if we had allowed them to bankrupt and close or reform in a purely capitalistic way, the severe blow to the economy that the loss of thousands of additional jobs during a time of recession would likely have had a greater cascading effect on the economy. If you have data to substantiate that bailing out the auto industry would have been a better financial decision, and have it from credible sources such as economists and actual financial folks, please do post it.

Paying 400% more for health insurance: So, a person who before had no or high deductible emergency plans is now forced to purchase insurance that covers a great deal more, (which in the long run, given the kid, is a financial investment which makes lots of sense as kids get sick and hurt and need care), means she has to pay a higher rate.

I'll grant you, it sucks. The choice between risking poor coverage and getting hurt or sick vs. paying for better insurance and absorbing the cost of any future illnesses and injuries over time is a bad place to be especially when you make little money.

But considering that anything that would have been substantively better than this was stripped out by republicans, leaving us in a place where basically we make the financial decision to require healthcare coverage to offset the large costs being dumped off on the government or other patients by those without the ability to pay, and the requirement means people are beholden to the whims of insurance companies.

I'm sorry, but you can't destroy the cake and then biatch because it tastes nasty.

We get it, Obama came into office and because he's not aligned with your views on everything, everything done during his term is horrible. I consider myself "semi conservative" and even I see a very sound investment in most of what Obama's done, insofar as trying to keep American jobs and protect the work force by ensuring that they're healthy and don't become a burden on society, prevent mass casualties due to the spread of infectious disease which results from poor medical care, and otherwise looking out for the interests of the American people.

I don't like big government, but I don't like a system which has grown into a parasitical existence that feeds off of the productivity of its work force while starving them of all but the most basic necessities to keep living while continuing to fight any process that strikes a balance and favors anything but the corporate balance sheets.

So go on back to the politics tab, or come up with something of substance that actually has merit in a discussion about random stabbings and is not just another shameless and baffling attempt to...what, I really don't know.

/and they say I'm mentally ill?

well now we know who NOT to take seriously in here.

He also conveniently forgets who cooked up the Wall Street bailouts.

Or why, exactly, the choice between a cascade failure of banks which used depositor's capital to make investments, and spending money to prop up a flawed system was inevitably a no-win scenario.

You destroy major financial institutions which holds a fairly sizable portion of the country's economic value through loans, investments, and accounts of regular Americans (not to mention the cost of paying off every affected account holder through the FDIC) and you are pretty much guaranteed to not only tank our economy but also put a pretty big dent in the global financial system.

I'm also no lawyer, so I don't even know if what the banks did originally regarding bad debt is illegal. But I do recall reading articles that some of the mortgages being offered which ended up causing a lot of the damage were pushed by political types trying to help underprivileged families buy houses which then spiraled out of control.

The whole thing is a master cluster fark, but I don't think that there's much to be done without major overhauls which require major changes in the political process to even make possible. IMHO.

Now back to my corner.

Witness99: TinyFist: Years ago I drove over to Va.

I will blow the head off any little shiat that attempts that.  We're overpopulated biatches and I'm ready to take out some crotchfruit.

Oh hey, happy new year babe. :)

Sugarbombs: haolegirl: Sugarbombs: NickelP: some_beer_drinker: fusillade762: Pretty soon people will be SHOOTING random people.

called it. maybe in malls, or schools...wow. that would be the worst!

We should ban malls and schools just in case

Don't go down that slippery slope.  Don't you see the real root of all of this is random people?  They have no real purpose; they're the problem!

You sound as if you are pro-choice?

A world full of wanted planned children!!

Haven't thought about it... I'm just preoccupied with those Monte-Carlo-drivin' random types.  Don't let those acts of kindness stories fool you, it's all just a cover for their vile stochastic ways.

Was it a Monte-Carlo, I didn't really remember. Also I admit I had to look up stochastic...now I need to find a way to work it in a conversation somehow!

Meh. I read it a long time ago (in high school, back in the dark ages) and wasn't overwhelmed, but it was nominated for several sci-fi awards. Robert Silverberg isn't one of my favorite authors, sci-fi or otherwise. It's just what I automatically think of when I hear the word "stochastic".

Ok a few things stood out as I watched the clip. They did the interviews diagonally across the street from the McDonalds, which is on the other side of Route 50(busy 6 lane route nearly impossible to cross except at the light) where the attack occurred. Why didn't they just interview people near the shops and Home Depot where the attack occurred? Why did they only interview white people? With all the different populations in that area surly they could have found some Hispanics and Asians... Crime is a big problem in that neighborhood, mostly nonviolent shoplifting stuff, but there have been a few violent scrapes over the years.

Seriously, there's a Home Depot in Falls Church? I was down not too far from there on vacation. Some booze was consumed, an accident happened, and all of a sudden I'm on the hook for a pain of glass, before the landlord gets back and I'm shiat out of a security deposit.

Siri didn't see a Home Depot in anywhere near Falls Church. She found a Lowes, but wouldn't you know it all their glass cutters were out of stock. Instead she had my ass driving all the way down to Harrisonburg just to get a freaking $2.00 tool. Boom there went my vacation!

If this stupid kid had gotten his sooner maybe that Home Depot would have been on the map, and I could have spent my New Years chilling in a hot tub like I was supposed to!

There are two Home Depots in the Falls Church area. Lowes, on the other hand, is in Alexandria or all the way out in Chantilly.

AeAe: SurfaceTension: The stabbing happened in the 6200 block of Seven Corners Center, near the Home Depot in a shopping center that anchors the neighborhood.

That Home Depot is the same one that was the scene of one of the random DC Sniper shootings back in 2002.

I know that place.  There's a dim sum restaurant right there.

I'm going to guess latino or vietnamese.

I am guessing MS13

I used to  work in that shopping center and have eaten at that McDonald's many times. Thank God I got out of that neighborhood. It's like East L.A. now, Hispanic gangs there, except the Eden Center area, which is like Little Saigon and has Vietnamese gangs.

ScaryBottles: So now I guess every time teenagers fark someone up it has to be the racially motivatedtm"knock out game" without exception, ever. Period.

I mean whats next? Millions of Anglos dowsing their panties and fleeing to the suburbs so they can be safe from all the scary blah people? Like that would ever happen in America.....

Hiring people, including those different races, ages, gender etc, instead of leaving them to their own bootstrappy devices; like that would ever happen in America.

There are no quotes in the article because no one in Falls Church speaks English.
