Not pica? Well, McDonalds is close enough, I guess.

I thought about doing this. Only in my scenario I buy the food and give it to the homeless guy that hangs out there everyday, take a pic, and keep the receipts. I'll write a book and include anecdotes from our daily interaction. I'll name it, "The Samaritan" or something cheesy like that.

Better include the calorie counts of MD 20/20 and crack

Didn't some shiathead do something like that a decade or so ago and almost died?

McDonald's what?

Amazing what actually exercising and watching how much you eat can actually do for you.

The healthiest part of the Big Mac is the carton it comes in.

So someone who probably was eating more than 2000 calories a day and not exercising starts eating 2000 calories a day and walking for 45 minutes and becomes healthier? Color me shocked...

I think the worst part of McDonald's might be the damn soft drinks they include with every meal. Yes I'd like a discount for getting a meal but fark off with the soda. I don't want that shiat. Give me the option to have something else.

2014-01-03 09:48:51 PM
Mr Cisna embarked on the diet as an experiment to show how we can eat anything as long as we stick to a limit of 2,000 calories

So 1  meal a day, got it

2014-01-03 09:49:37 PM
I could see it.  One small non red meat non cheese sandwich per meal with no sides and water.

But of course that's not how 99+% of people eat at McDonalds.

2014-01-03 09:49:41 PM
Exercise can do a hell of a lot regardless of what you eat.

2014-01-03 09:49:44 PM
See the documentary "Fat Head" where a guy did just this... By eating reasonable portions and walking three miles a day. It's a rebuttal to "Supersize Me."

Mugato: Didn't some shiathead do something like that a decade or so ago and almost died?

Morgan Spurlock in Supersize Me (total shyster).  The key difference is that he had an agenda to show how unhealthy it was in his 'expose' and intentionally ate as much as he could of the worst choices and then hyped it up. "I feel bloated and have 2 days left to live."

Tom Naughton did something like this in a documentary called "Fat Head" in 2009.  Basically a film debunking Super Size Me and showing that you can eat McDonald's every day and still be healthy.

Decent film.  Worth a look.

That guy went from vegan to stuffing himself until he was throwing up.  It wouldn't have mattered if it was McDonalds or any meat rich diet, he would have been sick from such a radical change in his diet, plus he went from exercise to no exercise

Goodluckfox: See the documentary "Fat Head" where a guy did just this... By eating reasonable portions and walking three miles a day. It's a rebuttal to "Supersize Me."

For those who actually watched Supersize Me, he specifically said he was trying to emulate what the AVERAGE person had for a meal at McDonalds.  A combo (supersized if asked) and a soda.

Eating McDonalds makes my skin break out.

Stop eating it, zits be gone....

FTFA - "On a typical day, Mr Cisna ate two egg white delights, a bowl of maple oatmeal and one percent milk for breakfast, and lunch would normally be a salad."

Yeah because everyone going to McD's is going to eat oatmeal and a salad. Bullshiat experiment is bullshiat.

Yeah, that's him. He ate like breakfast lunch and dinner there for a month or something. Even McDonald's was like "WTF, dipshiat?"

And he also had a pedometer and was taking the number of steps an AVERAGE person takes in a day.

The soda is where most of their margin is.  Their cost is something less than 0.20 for a large, IIRC.

I lost 30lbs eating nothing but McDonalds, one year.

Then again, only having $2/day to eat on will have that effect.

15 x your weight in pounds.  eat more calories than that you gain.  eat less you lose.  It does not matter in the slightest how these calories come.  if you weigh 200:  you get 300 cal a day.  a med combo meal from mcds is 1100 cal.  you can have 2 a day and lose weight.  eat 3 a day and gain.  it is that simple.

Did you selectively read the article?  It's all about limiting your calories, and choosing what you can and can't eat for the day.  The experiment was a success, because it showed that 2,000 calories and bit of exercise can result in a relative healthy result.

The experiment never suggested that someone with the willpower of a glutton could eat whatever they wished from the menu.

McDonalds has wonderful brewed iced tea. Drink it without sugar and it is not bad for you at all.

And McDonalds loves profiting off of those choices and it adds to our health care costs and military readiness among other things, and some slut shaming isn't going to be enough to stop those choices.

Lemonade is equally as bad as sugary soft drinks.  It's the sugar that makes them a health hazard, not the carbonation.  Nutritionally, there is no difference.

Other than diet soft drinks (for which there is conflicting health evidence), the only not unhealthy drinks available are probably water and unsweetened iced tea.  If you're going with the lemonade or fruit punch, you may as well get a coke.

Goodluckfox: walking three miles a day

I wish more people understood how little exercise it takes to make a big difference in your health.

A lot of people think they need to join a gym or start running marathons and the idea is daunting and intertia keeps them on the sofa.

I've known a few people who lost a lot of weight when they bought a dog and thus started walking a little bit twice a day.

2014-01-03 10:12:16 PM
Holy cow.  I didn't think that would be possible, but I ran the numbers, and if he's not cheating--as in, he's actually sticking to 2000 calories--it's possible.  Well, it is possible, as long as he's getting a diet drink with that salad and that value meal.

That shiat would get mighty boring in a hurry, though.

McDonald's is your kind of place...

Hamburgers in your face.
French fries between your toes.
Dill pickles up your nose.
Squishy, squashy, vanilla shakes,
made from polluted lakes...
McDonald's is your kind of place...

The last time that I was there...
They stole my underwear.
McDonald's is your kind of place...

Mustard, ketchup down your back
will make you have a heart attack
before you get your money back!
McDonald's is your kind of place!
Pay your Money and eat your food
But make sure you dont have tude
Salt and Pepper make you sneeze
DONT FORGET YOUR KEYS!
McDonald's is your kind of place! OH YEAH!

*raises hand*

Going there with my kids was my downfall, because I'd end up finishing what they didn't and therefore had fries and fell off the wagon, but when I was sticking to a low-carb diet, I would get a salad.  The Caesar Chicken Salad isn't all that good, but it's not that bad, either.  That along with a Diet Dr. Pepper would fill me up.
