That's pretty damn cool.

I liked Jennifer when she had a little more meat on her bones. Oh well...

As far as the house thing, it seems pretty cool at first, but property taxes, utilities and upkeep can bankrupt someone if they're not prepared for it.  Look at all those Extreme Home Makeover people who had to sell their stuff within a year because they couldn't afford it.  I would imagine Jennifer would help out with that, or at least be paying him enough where that's not going to be much of an issue.

Taxes and fees aren't that expensive, especially if you're not paying a mortgage. As long as you're not a moron that maxes out their credit card every month, their shouldn't be any problems.

Upkeep and utilities sure can be though.  I would imagine the guy is making enough money as her manager to not have to worry too much about it, anyway.  But those Extreme Home people who didn't have enough money to fix their failing houses have a hard time with it.  They're given extravegent mansions and didn't have the income to afford their shack.  It's no wonder most of them had to vacate after a short stay.

Okay, if it's a mansion or mcmansion, I'll agree. I'd assume it was something modest. That being said, I don't know who she is, where the house is, nor did I read the article.

upkeep is likely more than the cost of the mortgage, once you consider property taxes, increased bills (lawn, electric, security, etc.)

When I built my house, after living in an apartment for 10 years, my monthly utility expenses stayed the same. Yes, there were minor things that I had to accommodate for, like lawn mowing, etc., but to go bankrupt is quiet the stretch. That being said, I am also not the norm whereas I do not carry a credit card balance and, with the exception of my mortgage, I carry no debt.
My house is small, but the mortgage is actually less than my previous rent, my taxes are separate from my mortgage payment. My additional taxes are about $400 a month.

Why didn't she do this for her mother? Instead of letting her live in the ghetto to get shot. Where she lied dead for hours before cops were called because gunfire in the neighbor was so common no one called the police when they heard it. I bet she would've liked a new house.

But won't he be subject to either Gift Tax or the house would count as income (since he's an employee) and he'd have to pay Income Tax?  Paying 20% - 30% of the cost is still better than 100%, but not a "free" house.

Celebrity Net Worth says she's worth $15 million.  Probably a modest house worth a few hundred thousand at most.

Our lovely federal government takes about half the value of a prize as a tax, so getting an Extreme Makeover could land you with the sort of bill that would require a third mortgage to keep your prize house.

The person giving the gift pays the tax.  You get a $14,000 exclusion per person you're gifting to each year.  You also get a lifetime $5.25 million exclusion.  Considering she's only worth $15 million, she probably hasn't exhausted her lifetime exclusion.

I'd I remember correctly, she had begged her mother to let her buy her a house but she refused to leave the neighborhood (I think she had lived there for many years). It is not like she could force her mom to leave the ghetto against her will, unfortunately.

that seems mean to force her asst to pay her tax bill

Her mother and sister were killed during an episode of domestic violence as well. Unfortunately, that kind of stuff happens no matter what kind of neighborhood you live in.

DTFA, but this is true wealth, people.

When the rich are greedy with their money, they are truly the poor at heart.

Live and let live. Good show!

Yep. While that is incredibly awesome of her to do this, as soon as I clicked the link I couldn't help but be disappointed in the pic. I'd still disappoint her though.

Sell it for a dollar and give the government their 50 cents.
