No doubt.  On the right "ignorant" tends to mean "you don't agree with me! waaa!"

Now, no doubt people on the left go overboard, but a good many of those that talk about ignorance on the left actually back it up by pointing at facts that the "other side" is discounting as "OMG! LIBURUL!" or just plain ignoring.

The fact is, however, until the GOP stops being asses that stick their head in the sand when presented with facts they don't like we aren't going to get anywhere.  Both "sides" have to be logical, and we don't have that right now.

I like to think I kept pretty up-to-date during the election, and I don't remember a damn thing about this:

Now consider what happened when MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her equally self-righteous guests took a break from portraying themselves as morally superior to conservatives and decided it would be hilarious to turn a baby -- specifically, an adopted African-American baby -- into a punchline.
The three used a year-end segment dubbed "Look Back on 2013 and Laugh" to poke fun at the adoption of Kieran Romney, who this year found himself in a family Christmas photo, atop the lap of his new grandfather, Mitt. To some on the left, the fact that Kieran is black, and his grandpa isn't, is a real side splitter.

Diary Entry: June 17, 2017. From outside the ruins of Obamagrad, formerly Peoria, Ill.

I don't know anyone will ever read this. Last night the People's 188th Regiment encountered the last vestiges of the Grand Republican Army outside Obamagrad. They had tried to regroup and make a last stand, but we just flowed over them like an incoming tide. General Jackson-Lee led the charge. They never stood a chance.

No quarter was asked, and none was given. Our standard issue Soros-model Cossack sabers were red by the end of the night. I personally executed two commissioned officers. Later we celebrated with a dinner of arugula and Dijon mustard. It was the best food I have had in months.

They say the war is over now. Our union rep has told us that management finally caved, that Ted Cruz is in chains and on his way to Moscow on the Potomac, where Premiere Warren waits to personally execute the sentence handed down by the Assembled Worker's Congress.

They say it is a day of glory, but all I can think of is the look on that pudgy, doughy young Republican's face as my bayonet pierced both neckbeard and sweater vest. Will I ever forget? Maybe. But will history forget me?

Lots of people are assholes about politics. It's something you can argue about without actually having to do anything or accomplish anything on your own. Just latch onto the efforts of others, identify with a group, then tell yourself you better than others because of your opinions and run with it. If you use politics as an excuse to treat other people poorly, it's not that your views that make you an ugly person. It's the fact that you're an asshole that makes you an ugly person.

2014-01-03 11:59:40 AM
They named their black baby Kieran, which is Gallic for black. Now, I'm sure there are some white people who could get away with that, but the Romneys are far too white and entitled to pull it off.

As for the argument that the dumbass article tries to make. Who gives a shiat? Melissa Harris Perry isn't exactly a household name. Hell, neither are most of the people on Fox News. The simple fact is that nobody gives a shiat about cable news or talk radio. Law & Order re-runs get higher ratings than any of these talk shows.

1) Who decides what the "center" is? There is no natural "center" to politics. It is constantly moving, and it's been moving right for awhile now.
2) The "far left" is on the fringes of the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, the "far right" has taken control of the Republican Party and driving us all off the cliff. Comparing the two in this political climate is meaningless.

As long as you feel like you can rationalize it, I guess. So, you've just got yourself convinced you are just patently a better human being than people who don't share your political views? That's pretty sad. I feel bad for you.

Arugula and Dijon are no longer liberal foods, apparently. Otherwise I applaud your work.

Conservatives love arugula now: "The event was by invitation only and was closed to reporters. But POLITICO reviewed an agenda and guest list and staked out an adjacent lobby where participants held informal breakout meetings and munched on a lunch spread featuring soups, salads, and roast turkey sliders with brie, arugula, vine-ripened tomatoes and spicy mustard on pretzel roll buns."
