Interesting. It's pretty rare to have two completely opposite accounts of what was said at a meeting when there are third party witnesses. I guess we'll see.

Probably depends on how many of those guys want to get fired as well.

I would also like to say that I have applauded Chris for using his celebrity for bringing this issue up. I always felt that it would cost him his job since he is a simple punter. Now if only Aaron Rodgers would come out I think the whole gay NFL player thing would disappear and they would be accepted.

Do we ever actually hear from any of these purported gay friends and family whenever someone claims this?

Now I'm convinced that a disgruntled Bears fan started this rumor to rile him up.  Didn't work, though.

Kluwe said in that same column that he waited until he was unemployed and unlikely to be re-employed to bring this up, out of fear that if he'd said something at the time he would be fired for it.  No current player is going to open their mouth on this issue except to issue really generic statements-of-support for their obviously beloved coach.

I caught an interview with Kluwe on the Colbert Report. I have never seen a guest make off the cuff remarks that left Colbert gobsmacked. He had no comebacks for Kluwe's improv answers. He is just an awesome guy. Firing him for politics is stupid if he was really good at his job.

It was a gossip site citing an anonymous source. You don't get much less reliable than that. That's about on par with the tabloid headlines blaring "IT'S WAR!" "SAD LAST DAYS!" "(recently dead celebrity) DIDN'T HAVE TO DIE!" "HILLARY/OPRAH/MICHELLE TELLS BILL/STEADMAN/BARACK TO GET OUT!"

Except he wasn't a good punter by any stretch of the imagination. He was below average making $1.2 million. For a below average punter, that usually means cut so they can replace you with a rookie who does similar results for 1/3 the price.

Read the Kluwe side of the story & some of the comments were about Kluwe making $1.26 million, so they spent a draft pick on a kicker that they now $400k.

Kinda valid point until you realize that the Vikings have a lot more concerns than a farking punter, and it's not like their over the cap with elite QBs like Ponder & Freeman. So you blow a draft pick on ONE of TWO kickers taken in the entire draft to save $800k?

So this part of the comment struck me as odd:

"While my career focus is to be a great professional football coach, my number one priority has always been to be a protective husband and father to my wife and children. "

So how does firing a kicker, come to bear on his ability to be a "...protective husband and father to my wife and children..." ?

I think you can be both, big guy.

Did I miss the report where the Gay Mafia has made death threats or something to his family?

While I could see picking up Stacy for depth purposes as AP's getting up there in RB years, getting a K in the 5th round when you just got Blair Walsh the year before would be really, really, really dumb. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before we figure out who was passed on in the draft - you have to have a bunch of injuries and cap casualties in order for the guys drafted in those rounds to get significant playing time, usually.

Stacy would be a good "replacement" for AP if he ever ages, but as for the rest of the draft yeah your right

I just picked the two notable names out of the draft listing. In a few years we shall see if it paid off one way or another

Yeah, I'd add Luke Willson to the mix because he's been good for the Seahawks though the numbers aren't huge, but going into the season they seemed pretty set at that position with Rudolph, too. Or Andre Ellington, but again, they have good RBs. I also don't hate Michael Bowie but that's because there's been so much else hateable with the Seahawks line when everyone's injured and he's playing.

I just love the "It doesn't matter that you have a Black/Gay/Jewish friend" line. It's systematically designed to ensure nothing whatsoever can shelter a person from bigotry accusations.

Except being a part of that group. Which is bigoted.
