So, uh, Bears fans. Do me a favor. List all the QBs you've had in the last 20 years and tell me Cutler is better and or worse than any of them.

I had a relative say that the Bears should sign Vick to be our starter.

I told him this wasn't 2002

Jay Cutler ties the record for fastest repeat.

Not a Bears fan, but that is an incredibly low bar to set.  Bang for your buck there are better options out there.  I would say that even Flynn would be on par and he could be had for a couple million a year, which would give them money to build the defense they are lacking.

Cutler had a sizable improvement within the system compared to previous systems, and with the entire starting offense sticking around, it should only get better.  Word on the street is that Marshall may take Marquess Wilson, our development receiver, along with himself and Jeffery as they do their offseason jam sessions down in FL (which Alshon credited as having been instrumental in his success).

I'm happy that the Bears continue to work off of actual information rather than hype, sensationalism, and unwarranted criticisms from ill-informed masses.  This is part of the reason I support Emery.

Flynn would need a year to learn the offense. Do the Bears want to wait that year?

Cutler came into a system broken by Angelo.  No offensive unity or protection.

Emery came in, got Marshall, got rid of Lovie (who couldn't coach an offense to save his life), got Jeffrey, got M. Bennett, and FINALLY got an O Line.

Cutler has just come off his most productive year as a qb since he entered the league.

The Bears have never seen a guy like him with that sort of improvement with a cohesive offensive arsenal going forward.

So yes, please tell me again about how Cutler lost the final game by not running onto the field and intercepting that throw on 4th down.

If next year- with all of our weapons, and if Cutty stays healthy- he's throwing interception all over the place, then you can come back to this thread, find this post, and mock me openly for my assertions that Cutler gives Chicago their best chance at winning the division.

They are at least a year (if not two or three) away from building a defense which is needed to win championships.  If you could have Peyton next year, but not build anything or have Flynn and start the process, which would you rather have?

Matt Flynn, who couldn't play for the Raiders or Bills (when they were starting undrafted rookies) is going to put a team in the playoffs?

On the one hand, Cutler is probably the Bears' best option. On the other hand, Cutler is a less-successful version of Tony Romo.

He kinda put the Packers in the playoffs.

/let's not act as though the Raiders or Bills are known for their competent decision-making, is all I'm saying

Cutler is not the reason the Bears missed the playoffs this year, the defense was atrocious.

As a long term Bears fan, I am ok with this. Now they can prepare to make this years draft do for the defensive backfield what last years draft did for the O-line, please.

Cutler is tied for 31st for active QBs in terms of interception percentage at 3.4%

This year's was 3.4%

He didn't have a better year than any of his other years.  He's an average QB.. always was.

Vikings have been longing for an average QB for years... we'll take him.

Flynn is a backup QB at best

Outside of the disastrous Detroit game (Philly anyone?), he played good in his role.  He's an average to good QB.  He can play lights out great, or not so great.  Is he as good as Cutler?  Probably not.  Is he good enough in the interim?  Absolutely.

Has Romo led the Cowboys to any conference championships? I'm way to lazy to look it up right now... And I'm not being snarky.

/Cutler is above average, that's about it
//above average QB's will take humongous contracts for the foreseeable future. Get used to it

Cutler has the same amount of playoff wins, a better playoff record, and has taken his team deeper into the post-season than Romo.

Nope. Although to be fair...

LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at Eastern Illinois. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag my line and up and down the field for 60 minutes, score 30, and lose by 20.

And he has led his team to the playoffs once in seven seasons as a starter.  Romo has led his team to the playoffs three times in 8 seasons.  Romo has more touchdowns, fewer interceptions, and more yards.

So have Trent Dilfer and Flacco.

My point is that Romo isn't the Cowboys' issue, and Cutler isn't the Bears'. Despite media and farker claims, victories is a stupid measurement for a single player. Just ask DewayneMann (sp?) in any baseball thread. This was a good signing, since he's the best available option. I don't know about $18m, but as someone else said, that's the going rate for average or better.

He's also 15 feet tall, only partially opaque, and loves youth basketball.

But he has nothing to do with Jay Cutler.

I didn't bring up the Romo comparison, just quoted some stats about the comparison.

That was just a general statement because I wanted to share that bizarre photoshop I found earlier.
