I read that headline and in my head it translates to "Wow, who knew that a Best Buy or Denny's uniform are not supermodel-level flattering?"
And then I answer, "Well... everyone, I think."

And the media, having a slow day reporting twitter, is now reporting on tumblr sites.

Wait a minute, are you telling me they don't actually cast plain looking women for the "plain girl" roles? Next you'll be telling me that the women on TV with glasses aren't actually socially awkward nerds.

I don't know, it's all about the woman. A beautiful woman in an ugly outfit is still a beautiful woman.

Also, are you telling me that with makeup and good lighting, actresses enhance themselves for their headshots?

This, more than anything, I'll bet.

2014-01-02 10:18:15 AM
I think I figured it out.

Average looking people don't bother to go out and get agents. There for it's easier to hire models and dress them down a bit.

2014-01-02 10:44:20 AM
I can't tell if we skipped a cycle in this story when we see the article about how supermodels are all super normal looking without the fancy makeup.

2014-01-02 10:44:21 AM
This just in: it's easier to dirty up a swan than put lipstick on a pig.  Film at 11.

I can still masturbate to the Education Connection commercial girl going to college in her pajamas, right?

Well, some do.

All of my girlfriends have been super-hot models that just dumb down their looks to silence the haters.

Somewhat related, this is why I'm starting to have real trouble with Hollywood. Every time I see something, it seems the head of the bio-medical lab or whatever is some smoking hot twenty year old, and while I appreciate the view, it just takes me out of the story.

It's probably always been like that.

2014-01-02 10:55:37 AM
This just in, girls with symmetrical features can still be given makeup, clothes, and hairstyles that don't suit them.

2014-01-02 11:00:23 AM
Why, it's almost as if cosmetics, posture, clothing, hairstyle, and expression are included when considering a person's appearance! Gadzooks!

And, conversely, no one's really serious when they claim that they're looking for "average" models - they're just looking for models that can be convincingly costumed as "average."

I can't believe Best Buy isn't showing their female employees walking around stores wearing bikinis!

im pretty sure Ric Romero is breaking some kind of contract deal by moonlighting for the Seattle news networks.  I mean, in how many markets is he allowed to remind people that the sky is blue and water is wet?

Yeah, they still want to sell sex, they just don't want to be called out for it.

I worked for a photography studio. One of their clients was a uniform supplier (as in blue collar uniforms). They tried using models who looked more like their actual users and sales went down. They switched back to professional models for their catalogs and sales went back up. It's not rocket science beauty sells period.

12 years later, still haven't learned the name of that girl in the Nivea "Gentle Summer Rain" ad.

discovered Who is that hot ad girl? on Tumblr.

Somehow posting an image of a woman wearing an outfit tailored to the millimeter isn't supporting your thesis.

The three steps to looking good.

1. Buy clothes that suit your build.
2. Be attractive.
3. Don't be unattractive.

/step one not always needed.

You do realize that the glammed-up shots of these women with the flattering filters and other photoshoppery are the ones that aren't their "real" appearance?

Oh, wait, this is Fark. Carry on, gentlemen.

The young lady in that Nissan Rouge ad that was played during the bowl games--the one where she drives on top of a commuter train to avoid traffic--is supposed to be Jessica Vilchis.

Jesus, so the point of this story is that a model's head shots show that she is hotter then when portrayed as a normal clerk in a commercial?

No shiat?

Who signed off on this piece of tripe in the first place, and how did it make it onto Fark? I can guarantee you that today alone, there are [probably going to be 400 MUCH more interesting stories with MUCH funnier headlines that will not get the greenlight.

Same here.  I usually prefer the light make-up look to the heavy look.

Hell, even Snooki looks passable when she is only wearing touch-up as opposed to her typical umpa-lumpa mask.

I think they got it backward. Those super hot modeling photos are usually so over produced, what you're seeing in the TV ads is probably closer to what they actually look like in real life.

I guarantee if you saw this girl on the street, she wont look like the pic on the right.

I prefer the one on the left. She looks like she could be saying "me so horny" the one on the right looks like she is saying "if you drop $10k tonight I might let you kiss me"

Yeah, I don't really understand this article.

It seems to assume they're naturally prettier than they are, because they can be made artificially prettier than they are?

The girl in that newish Citi commercial ("He's just using you for the rewards points"; she's the one with huge eyes and bangs) was in a movie called The Boys and Girls' Guide to Getting Down. It's a hilarious movie, but I don't know her name.

I'll take a threeway with both, please. Maybe I'm broken, but usually all the glamming up usually doesn't add much for me frumpled and dolled up are just two states of being. Hot chicks is hot chicks.
