Strasburg Railroad in PA has a live working steam version also. Many in the U.S. are not live steam and assisted by a  diesel.  They allow other railroads to "lease her out" for their own Thomas weekends.

On Thomas weekends at Strasburg traffic is insane.. The crowds this thing draws is insane.

It looks nothing like Thomas.
The one in the UK, however, looks fine.
Bloody Sony corporate clones.

Meanwhile, in car #3, a train rape video is being made.

When it no longer feels useful will it feel compelled to kill itself before dishonoring Sir Topam Hatt?

I was one of the crowd. About ten years back my wife and I brought my son to see Thomas at Strassburg. He had a last. We went to another "Day Out With Thomas" in Ohio once, but it wasn't near as nice as Strassburg's.

Still can't get off Strassburg's email list though.

At first I thought that was a different show entirely, which it WAS technically, but the same concept.

Roaring Camp in Felton, a former logging railroad turned into a historic park in the mountains between Santa Cruz and San Jose, CA; they do the Day Out with Thomas too.

Who really is running the Sodor railway?

Sure you have the psychologically abusive Sir Toppem Hat, but his rule through fear of disappointment doesn't seem to me very effective.

Then you have all of these drivers.. what are they doing?  Why do they go along with whatever stupid thing these trains want to do?

The island of Sodor is a very scary place.

This is why I have to leave the room when my son watches Thomas. Alright, Thomas, I get that you have the mind of, at most, a six year old and you think going on the bumpy tracks and popping the corks out of the fizzy lemonade is great fun, but what about the GROWN MAN sitting inside your cab?

The troublesome trucks and cranky seen to be the only ones with a bit of life left in them.

/And someone needs to take a hammer to Percy. I can't stand him.

//I'd say dowager Hatt is a right 'goer,' mind you
