I'm a moron, but why is the Doge meme getting so much attention.  It doesn't seem funnier than any other meme.  Or is it post modern?  Is it funnier because we simply want it to be?

Is it fiat-funny?

Which would make dogecoins fiat-fiat currency?

//bad joke

Sort of. Here's a previous Fark thread about it.

Reddit says it's still in, so it must be cool.  It also means that the money is backed by imaginary internet points.

Go the fark back to /b/ where you belong, farking morons. Doge isn't even at the level of humor as two pre-teens laughing at fart jokes.

Dogewallet's founders say those accounts affected will be compensated, and asks owners to contact them in a private message on Reddit.

Why does it not shock me that they use Reddit?

I'm impressed at how quickly this meme became overused and trite... meaning it will be featured as a Fark headline once a day this year.

Well if a request to message the people managing my money via Reddit doesn't inspire confidence, nothing will.

Dogecoin is too new on the scene. I only invest in stable, time-tested meme currencies. I've had all of my assets in Lootiemarks for years, but I'm thinking of moving into Ermahgerd Derlers. Call me overly cautious if you will, but I learned my lesson the first time when the Mr.-T-Ate-My-Bills bubble collapsed.

I only enjoy FARK-approved memes, and since I've never heard of this one, pshaw I say!

Yea, I'm glad I didn't listen to all of those people telling me not to invest in bitcoins at $30.

It will probably end up being one of my best investments ever since I only had to hold them for 11 months to sell at $800.

Because Reddit is 30th most popular site in the US and 75th in the world?

If any crypto currency actually hits the mainstream and is used primarily as means of money transfer (rather than speculative investment), I'm betting it's going to be dogecoin.

Because humanity is just that stupid.

/b/ is pretty terrible now

I still go there... why?

WTF?  I'm going to do business with a 'company' (and I use that rem loosely) that names its financial 'product' (I use that rem loosely as well) after a dog meme?  And uses Reddit as a venue for filing customer service issues, customer service issues regarding the very security of it's monetary transactions?

I mean hostly...  I'll confess to having done some work in Second Life, and been paid in the in-game currency, which can actually be sold and converted to real money.  Even though SL is owned by a real company with an address and assets and such, I do that conversion as soon as possible, because until it's in a real bank account it's just 'virtual tokens' and if Linden Labs goes bankrupt, those tokens aren't worth the silicon they are stored on.
