PluckYew: Stanford is a scatter/scramble band, not a marching band.

Maybe by definition. But their name is the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band.

picodenico: Big 900: Someone once told me that they are not actually university sponsored, and are a student org that is privately funded. Also, the tree is the band's mascot, and not officially affiliated with the university. Not sure how true that is though

Numerous marching bands are private organizations who are not officially sponsored or whatnot by their respective universities. But they are still representatives of their schools, and one would thing they would want to be represented in a positive light.

A Fark Handle: maybe most marching bands shouldn't take themselves so seriously. after all, it's marching band.

As an incredibly proud marching band alum for 9 years, I would love to know why you think we would not want to be taken professionally. We're seen by just as many, and many times, by tens of thousands more people in person than any other organization that would represent a school.  If you think that a marching band should not take themselves seriously, and as a professional representation, then you are lacking some serious perspective.

Do you know my high school band director too?

I'm facebook friends with him (holy shiat, it's been almost 25 years since I graduated....) and he was complaining about the Stanford band too today.

It's fine to be irreverent and fun if it's done with a little panache. The Stanford band is just crass and low. That's not cool.

thecpt: harleyquinnical: Cardinal offense has not been able to do anything in the run game.  It sucks they will have to rely on the long bombs to gain yardage.

Replace cardinals with the words every team's and that statement is true for every msu game this year

Fair enough.  I guess I'm just pissed at the Cardinal defense playing lackadaisically

Aar1012: Techhell: Gah. I wish the in-laws had any sports package. Then I wouldn't be relying on the shiatty ESPN gamecast, which just claimed that MSU had a -49 rushing play after the interception. Then that vanished.

If you have an affiliated provider then you can log onto watchESPN and watch the game.

I wonder if that would work up here in CFLland... Will keep it in mind.

Still might have the Gamecast up - according to it, MSU just scored... After the end of the game. Ahhh... Gamecast.

I'm an msu homer. Stanford got dicked hard and often early in this game, but they have done nothing for themselves this half. Even if they lose by a slim margin, I don't know if I'd be comfortable saying they earned the win but were screwed

Exactly.

Milwaukee, huh? I graduated 13 years ago, so I doubt it. But in the area.

It's how I have ESPN. My family had an extra email to give out and I don't have cable

I missed the first quarter because of a nap.  Some of the penalties against Stanford I have seen were questionable (the holding that set up the last Spartan touchdown) or non-calls favoring Michigan (the big catch where the Spartan clearly pushed off enough to change his own position and prevent the defender from having a chance for a play.)

I'm just rooting for PAC-12 teams to do well in bowl games.  It's not that I hate the Spartans, but I have never really rooted for them.  I favor Wisconsin for some reason.

Regardless of outcome, Stanford is another PAC12 pretender exposed at this point.  One offensive touchdown and down 7 after 3+ quarters coming in touted just behind Caesar's legions and the Afrika Korps

I'm waiting for someone to try and jump their Nissan Rogue onto a train, only to fail horribly, resulting in a lawsuit that bankrupts Nissan.

They'll deserve it for that awful commercial.

Thanks Nissan. Now I know that cars can't jump onto trains.

Unless their coach leaves Stanford is the developing team that will dominate the pac12 in years to come.

You sound jealous.  If you don't like the hype from media outlets, engaging in opposite hyperbole doesn't help your cause.

Stanford is a fine football team with a 4 game BCS appearance streak.  Tough for any school, but their academic standards makes the feat especially impressive.

Flattery from Badger country.  I'm not from there.  I have no connections to the area.  I have no reason to root for the Badgers.  And yet I do.  I don't know if that makes me a good person or just a Husky fan rooting for another team with a W on the helmet.

Stanford was fortunate to get a FG there.

A busted play after a botched hold and they still flag for illegal man down field.  To me, that should not be possible on a kicking team running a fake.

Big 900: clintster: It was a good game. I like both programs, and if it had been any other team, I'd have likely cheered on Bucky. But today it is great to be a Gamecock! Thanks for the memories, Jadeveon and Connor.

Yeah, Connor Shaw plagued like a world beater today. Congrats to you and your fellow Gamecocks. Guess we owe you a beer.

Meet you at Mickies.

/Came to Camp Randall in 08 to take photos for a book on Badger football. Loved the atmosphere, and got to take in a basketball game in the press box at the Kohl.

Jealous?  I'm an Auburn man.  And while I don't necessarily drink the Kool-aid per se, I find the PAC12 to be routinely overestimated, today's game notwithstanding.

He from freakin' Oregon.  You'd think he'd be marginally aware of West coast bias.

That has to do with the silly bowl match ups.  The Pac and the SEC have no bowl tie ins that play each other.  It's one of the worst things about the bowls.

On that we agree.  There could have been some compelling games this year.
