Sounds about right.  Now Stanford shoots themselves in the foot by holding to offset Michigan St.'s intentional grounding.

I can't stand him because he is so pro east coast, it's not funny.  He's rooting for the Spartans and not hiding it at all.

Michigan state is too stupid and arrogant (Huur we are big 10 hurrrr)  to adjust for 'furd.

FFS Utah could do it...

furd is going to win the same way those Div II teams who run the option show up and ruin early season games for someone.   Stupid coaches who think they have nothing to worry about and get shamed when they don't adjust.

It's possible, I suppose.  It would only exacerbate his bias.  If he's drinking anything, it's probably a bourbon highball.

I guess they're too focused on their law school and athletics programs to get a good music program going.  Or everyone is high and too focused on guitars and keyboards to learn brass and wind instruments.

Well, it's not just that. It's that they are the most unprofessional organization I"ve ever seen from a college. I'm shocked that the university allows them to be a representative.

/musically, they're terrible too though

steamingpile: USCLaw2010: steamingpile: karmaceutical: Connor Shaw, the new Tebow.

These announcers are amazing Conner Shaw is an average QB who has cost SC just as many games as he has won.

You are dumb as fark. Shaw was 27-5 all time and had 24 touchdowns to 1 int this season

Yet they were still in a shiatty also ran bowl game, he wasn't the reason they won most of those games.

Lattimore and clowney had more to do with that the previous years, all Conner had to do was not fark up which he failed quite a few times. He's not nearly the great QB the announces were pumping up, hell he's not even the 4th best QB in the SEC this year.

Bullshiat latty was out for half of the last 2 years. He isn't an nfl starter but he is a good quarterback

Someone once told me that they are not actually university sponsored, and are a student org that is privately funded. Also, the tree is the band's mascot, and not officially affiliated with the university. Not sure how true that is though.

they are not unprofessional.  they're irreverent.  maybe most marching bands shouldn't take themselves so seriously.  after all, it's marching band.

Nice effort by the receiver but, as mentioned, the back just took it from him.  That should have been a completion.  Oh well.  Good pick.

Is it me or does this years bowl lineup seem lackluster compared to recent years? Also, I think the fact that they're spreading these BCS games over the course of a week is ruining what made New Years Day bowl games so special.

At least the Rose Bowl looks like a good one, I tried to watch the Outback Bowl but it looked like LSU was owning Iowa the whole game.

Gah. I wish the in-laws had any sports package. Then I wouldn't be relying on the shiatty ESPN gamecast, which just claimed that MSU had a -49 rushing play after the interception. Then that vanished.

Numerous marching bands are private organizations who are not officially sponsored or whatnot by their respective universities. But they are still representatives of their schools, and one would thing they would want to be represented in a positive light.

A Fark Handle: maybe most marching bands shouldn't take themselves so seriously. after all, it's marching band.

As an incredibly proud marching band alum for 9 years, I would love to know why you think we would not want to be taken professionally. We're seen by just as many, and many times, by tens of thousands more people in person than any other organization that would represent a school.  If you think that a marching band should not take themselves seriously, and as a professional representation, then you are lacking some serious perspective.

i really think the spread over weeks is ruining the bowl season.  sure some people will watch whenever as the rating surely show and in the modern world of tivo and social media live events are worth their weight in gold, but now there's no "bowl day" with multiple games to on multiple channels.  now bowl season is just filler for espn between nfl playoff previews.

If you have an affiliated provider then you can log onto watchESPN and watch the game.

Part of this might be that with the BCS (and the playoff system starting next year), there's such a huge focus on the Championship game that it takes the luster out of everything else.  The Rose Bowl doesn't even really mean anything anymore.  The only game that matters is on Monday.

because music was meant to be fun?  because it's college?  no doubt plenty of folks see the bands.  doesn't mean the band needs a stick up their ass.  you're right all bands should take the music seriously as badly played music is bad, but have fun with the rest of the show.  it's supposed to be fun...

Not going to disagree with that, but I can tell you that people who are in marching bands in college are there because it is fun. Maybe it's not what you imagine to be fun, but the hard work that is put in, and the output, even though it may only be an 8 minute show after weeks of work, is so much fun. To have it go off without a hitch is something that every marching band member is incredibly proud of.

There are too many games too close together with too many corporate sponsors.  I miss names like the Liberty, Independence, Copper, Citrus, Hall -of-Fame, and Peach.  It seems like 1999 had 22 bowl games.  35 with simultaneous broadcasting gets overwhelming.

Eh. I was in the university of Wisconsin marching band. Considered one of the best, most respected, and most physically demanding marching bands in the country. We are also known for partying heavily, making jokes, and breaking formation to polka. Professionalism is just perfectly choreographed drill. Admittedly Stanford's playing isn't great, but the put on a fun show.

Considering how bitter his divorce made him, nothing would surprise me.
