That was mostly the idiot fans whose minds are simple enough to process Omaha World Herald opinion columns as journalistic fact. They started the whole "fire him" bandwagon, and then publicly demanded for the university whether or not he would be fired. So to clarify - they invented their own news, and then slandered everyone who wouldn't confirm their invented story.

The rest of us (any Husker fan with an IQ over 90) simply want to see some changes to the special teams and strength/conditioning programs. And few of us will ever again mock other teams' fans who attribute poor seasons to rampant injuries...

Starting a Clemson QB in a high-profile game is like buying a Volkswagen.  When it works, it's great.  When something goes wrong, it's a fiery death.

That said, Ohio State plays defense like Billy Joel drives, so Tajh may finally have that Heisman moment people in Sakerlahnuh were waiting on.

Yeah, the guy I'm going against has the bulk of his guys going today, so I should know around-about where I stand by Friday.  I figure if I'm confident in a win with a dependable 25-35 or so I'll go Miller, if I need 40+ I'll go Hail Mary with Boyd.

Well it wasnt that long ago there just weren't many games to watch, most broadcasters would rather run regular programing since they feel only a few people would watch regional games.

Nice to see the auburn game taught the UGA DBs to let no one behind you on crucial plays.

No, it's a PAC10 crew. My wife is appalled by the officiating so far. Apparently getting knocked down by a defender is holding and facemasks are fair game.

He was their only offense and like we have come to expect from Bobo, when you have a play that works he likes to use it only once then try and surprise the team later. While other teams will pound the same play until our defense learns to stop it.

Our coordinators suck but Richt is too loyal to fire them.

Nebraska had the best strength and conditioning program in the county in the early 90s.  Ignorant people equate that with steroid use.

Big 900: Dear NFL scouts:
This is what Clowney looks like against a pro-caliber offensive line. You've been warned.

You do realize there are plenty of pro caliber lines in the SEC, right?

I just hope he's gone before the falcons pick since I hate clowney because he takes plays off a lot.

chuggernaught: This is what husker haters actually believe.

I'm not a Husker hater by any stretch, just their delusional fans. Before I moved to SD 18 years ago I didn't give a damn about Husker football. Hell, most of the time I actually cheer for the Huskers just because I have so many Husker friends and I don't really have any strong DI college allegiances. Unfortunately many of those friends are the exact type of fan I described earlier.

Is a one dimensional pass rusher really worth the top pick? Clowney has shown he is a liability on rushing downs.

chuggernaught: steamingpile: clkeagle: smerfnablin: Are Nebraska fans still wandering the streets with torches and pitch forks looking to get rid of their head coach?

That was mostly the idiot fans whose minds are simple enough to process Omaha World Herald opinion columns as journalistic fact. They started the whole "fire him" bandwagon, and then publicly demanded for the university whether or not he would be fired. So to clarify - they invented their own news, and then slandered everyone who wouldn't confirm their invented story.

The rest of us (any Husker fan with an IQ over 90) simply want to see some changes to the special teams and strength/conditioning programs. And few of us will ever again mock other teams' fans who attribute poor seasons to rampant injuries...

So bring back the steroid room like when Osbourne was there?

Nebraska had the best strength and conditioning program in the county in the early 90s.  Ignorant people equate that with steroid use.

Or the fact actual players back up the claims they had steroids injected to them daily? Seriously have you never read the SI article which completely destroyed Osbourne's reputation?

Yeah. I just say be realistic. The guy wasn't a saint. He wasn't wholesome. He was just like every other coach who wanted to gain a competitive advantage. I'm not trying invoke moral relativism by implying that if one person cheats, then it's okay for everyone else to do it. Simply acknowledge that he had character flaws just like any other human and wasn't this bastion of integrity and a true representative of everything that is right with the world.

I guess they're too focused on their law school and athletics programs to get a good music program going.  Or everyone is high and too focused on guitars and keyboards to learn brass and wind instruments.

Well, it's not just that. It's that they are the most unprofessional organization I"ve ever seen from a college. I'm shocked that the university allows them to be a representative.

steamingpile: USCLaw2010: steamingpile: karmaceutical: Connor Shaw, the new Tebow.

These announcers are amazing Conner Shaw is an average QB who has cost SC just as many games as he has won.

You are dumb as fark. Shaw was 27-5 all time and had 24 touchdowns to 1 int this season

Yet they were still in a shiatty also ran bowl game, he wasn't the reason they won most of those games.

Lattimore and clowney had more to do with that the previous years, all Conner had to do was not fark up which he failed quite a few times. He's not nearly the great QB the announces were pumping up, hell he's not even the 4th best QB in the SEC this year.

Bullshiat latty was out for half of the last 2 years. He isn't an nfl starter but he is a good quarterback

Someone once told me that they are not actually university sponsored, and are a student org that is privately funded. Also, the tree is the band's mascot, and not officially affiliated with the university. Not sure how true that is though.

Is it me or does this years bowl lineup seem lackluster compared to recent years? Also, I think the fact that they're spreading these BCS games over the course of a week is ruining what made New Years Day bowl games so special.

At least the Rose Bowl looks like a good one, I tried to watch the Outback Bowl but it looked like LSU was owning Iowa the whole game.

Gah. I wish the in-laws had any sports package. Then I wouldn't be relying on the shiatty ESPN gamecast, which just claimed that MSU had a -49 rushing play after the interception. Then that vanished.

Numerous marching bands are private organizations who are not officially sponsored or whatnot by their respective universities. But they are still representatives of their schools, and one would thing they would want to be represented in a positive light.

As an incredibly proud marching band alum for 9 years, I would love to know why you think we would not want to be taken professionally. We're seen by just as many, and many times, by tens of thousands more people in person than any other organization that would represent a school.  If you think that a marching band should not take themselves seriously, and as a professional representation, then you are lacking some serious perspective.

i really think the spread over weeks is ruining the bowl season.  sure some people will watch whenever as the rating surely show and in the modern world of tivo and social media live events are worth their weight in gold, but now there's no "bowl day" with multiple games to on multiple channels.  now bowl season is just filler for espn between nfl playoff previews.

Part of this might be that with the BCS (and the playoff system starting next year), there's such a huge focus on the Championship game that it takes the luster out of everything else.  The Rose Bowl doesn't even really mean anything anymore.  The only game that matters is on Monday.

because music was meant to be fun?  because it's college?  no doubt plenty of folks see the bands.  doesn't mean the band needs a stick up their ass.  you're right all bands should take the music seriously as badly played music is bad, but have fun with the rest of the show.  it's supposed to be fun...

Not going to disagree with that, but I can tell you that people who are in marching bands in college are there because it is fun. Maybe it's not what you imagine to be fun, but the hard work that is put in, and the output, even though it may only be an 8 minute show after weeks of work, is so much fun. To have it go off without a hitch is something that every marching band member is incredibly proud of.

There are too many games too close together with too many corporate sponsors.  I miss names like the Liberty, Independence, Copper, Citrus, Hall -of-Fame, and Peach.  It seems like 1999 had 22 bowl games.  35 with simultaneous broadcasting gets overwhelming.

Eh. I was in the university of Wisconsin marching band. Considered one of the best, most respected, and most physically demanding marching bands in the country. We are also known for partying heavily, making jokes, and breaking formation to polka. Professionalism is just perfectly choreographed drill. Admittedly Stanford's playing isn't great, but the put on a fun show.

I missed the first quarter because of a nap.  Some of the penalties against Stanford I have seen were questionable (the holding that set up the last Spartan touchdown) or non-calls favoring Michigan (the big catch where the Spartan clearly pushed off enough to change his own position and prevent the defender from having a chance for a play.)

I'm just rooting for PAC-12 teams to do well in bowl games.  It's not that I hate the Spartans, but I have never really rooted for them.  I favor Wisconsin for some reason.

Stanford is a fine football team with a 4 game BCS appearance streak.  Tough for any school, but their academic standards makes the feat especially impressive.

Jealous?  I'm an Auburn man.  And while I don't necessarily drink the Kool-aid per se, I find the PAC12 to be routinely overestimated, today's game notwithstanding.

That has to do with the silly bowl match ups.  The Pac and the SEC have no bowl tie ins that play each other.  It's one of the worst things about the bowls.

Badgers are simply furry, lovable creatures!

They've been keeping very quiet about it.  It's not anything criminal or there'd be records of it, he's an academic all American so it's not grades, I'm thinking a coach caught him doing something he shouldn't have been doing. Whatever that means.

It's just hard to imagine him getting suspended for anything less than something criminal. Who knows...

I'm guessing something having to do with an agent.  Improper contact maybe after the Big Ten Championship? Something Michigan State knew would cause them to forfeit if he played.

Since HTTP stands for Hyper TEXT Transfer Protocol, how does a phone line return any http error?

Did it read to her?   ''http five hundred", etc.

From Wikipedia:
500 Internal Server ErrorA generic error message, given when an unexpected condition was encountered and no more specific message is suitable.

Maybe the VOIP system screwed the pooch?

As a UCF alum, I've watched him play the last two seasons.  I'm surprised they've thrown so little in this game, but if you're able to run, why do anything else?  My biggest gripe with watching him play is that a high percentage of his throws either seem to be bubble screens or dragons.  He doesn't seem to throw a lot in the 10-15 yard range.  He's got the size and the athleticism, but I'd like to see him come back and work on those passes next season.  He's basically risen to the rating due to the small sample size of qbs that might be available this draft.

Wait, there's a line now that actually says 'field goal range' superimposed on the field???

Okay, I know recently watching 'Dodgeball' may skew my memory as much as the beer I've consumed, but is it just me or does the main announcer for this game sound like Gary Cole?

Yeah.  I don't know when they started doing that line, but they are up to 3 lines per red zone play.  They need to slow down and go into rehab for that much coke.

Unless their coach leaves Stanford is the developing team that will dominate the pac12 in years to come.

Well bully for them I guess.

Point is they're no pretender.

They were big favorites today, before MSU lost it's captain.  Merely noting the underformance .

Lines are set by money wagered not by quality of opponents.

Except ESPN's matrix showed Stanford a 15 point favorite over MSU on a neutral field.  Literally none of the pundits were predicting an MSU victory.  Of course, not many of them thought Sparty would spank the Buckeyes either.

People underestimate emotion and another teams resolve to win the game, if there is a team fighting to save their coach or their positions for next year I will put money on them over a favorite everyday.

Maybe it's just a case of "fark it, leave it up there."  I figure the next line they put up will be the furthest point on the previous drive, because LINES.

Marmilman: his knee was down at the 1 yard line, but the ball was clearly i front of his knee.... wtf?

A yard is over 3 feet, the ball was maybe 1.5-2 feet in front so its possible and irrelevant point since they scored anyways.

Hah, very nice.

Just finished off the rest of the pecan pie. Working through the PBR.
Had a lot of cookies today too.

I just look at it like this, I went to the gym today and installed the new garbage disposal so I worked it off......

I went out and froze my ass all morning doing farm chores in -5 degrees. Needed some nice winter beers to thaw me out. The one I cracked a few minutes ago is gratuitous, I admit. :)

Eh, I'd much rather be cold than hot, so I don't really mind. This negative temps and windy shiat gets old though. Fortunately I'm well stocked with beer, scotch, and brandy.

Well, first I finished up the Oktoberfest beers(Point and Weihenstphaner), killed a few Potsi porters, during the Badger game I drank New Glarus Two Women from the kegerator in the basement, had a little scotch after dinner, and an finishing the night with Capital Autumnal Fire.

Find Korbel brandy. Drink liberally as an old fashioned, or mixed half and half with 7up. If you start to get hammered switch to beer to sober up. Repeat as necessary. Eat cheese and susages.

Cheddar. Brats boiled in cheap beer (the High life will work nicely) and then grilled. Burgers. Venison if you can find it. If you can get cheese curds, go for it. The best and freshest curds squeak when you eat them. Summer sausage. Big soft pretzels with mustard. Brandy old fashioneds.

And milk, because Wisconsin.

I have a weakness in that I always come home with ramdom sixers of beer. I end up buying something new before I finish it, so the garage fridge fills up with a mishmash of micros. Decided this morning that today was the day to reset, you could say. I do have to say; the more I drink of the Two Women the more I like it. Especially on tap. Not to defend baseball but MLB has an option where you can pay a flat fee (I think it's $120/season to watch any game (subject to blackout restrictions).

Yup, I paid for the audio subscription a few years ago to do that, and it was cheap and awesome. I loved that, so I could listen to the Brewers when I was living in MN. It pisses me off that I have Charter internet, but not cable, and because I don't have cable, I can't watch ESPN3, or watchespn, or whatever it is now. Thankfully, numerous rather reliable sites stream sports, which is what I'm doing now.

Nice.  Due to lack of fridge space, I have to finish each six pack I buy before buying a new one.  I have also started buying bottled conditioned beers to let age for future family gatherings, mostly Lost Abbey stuff, but I have a St. Bernardus too.  WOO ONE SCORE GAME!

Yes, but as I recall all local home games are blacked out, so it's not really a replacement unless you follow an out of area team. I figure if our public bonds are being used to finance brand new stadiums the majority of the games being played in them ought to be broadcast.

Also, isn't the UCF coach the same guy fired by Notre Dame after less than a week because he lied on his resume? And isn't he the same guy who worked one of his players to death and screamed and swore at him as he lay dying on the practice field? How does this guy have a job?
