James Randi debunked one of these LONG ago.  Let's see him do it with talc powder all over him.  Bet he can't

This. In other news, fatmanstickysweat (TM) is a "magnetic" substance.

In other news, some parts of the world still confuse magnetism with friction.

Spoons. Why is it always spoons. YOU STOLE THOSE FROM THE CAFETERIA, DIDN'T YOU.

It's not sweat or anything, it's simply human skins' rather high friction coefficient.  Any sort of lubrication will decrease the effect.  Talc fills in and smooths out all the little ridges and what not on the skin that help give it its high friction, like little tire treads, and so it just stops working.

Then it's just practice at positioning of both object and body so that the forces acting upon the object don't overwhelm the static friction between the object and the skin.  Spoons are popular for it due to their lopsided center of mass, which helps change the force vectors acting on it, sort of like the old ruler and hammer experiment.

The fact that stories like this are written, and people believe because someone has spoons stuck to them that they are magnetic is what makes me lose faith in humanity.

Draw a free body diagram for each of those spoons, and the problem is solved with no magnetism...

Came here to say that.   Static friction != electromagnetic force.

That's pretty low on the list of things that make me lose faith in humanity.   The tea party, on the other hand...
