Uh, its 47F above and cloudy, here. Might be fixin' to rain some, but that's no news.

I was thinking I might walk around the corner to the Pub for New Year's Later... if I don't get totally sucked into Skyrim again.

48 Degrees. Precipitation 60% Humidity 96%. Wind 3 mph.

Not bad for Canada.

I should prolly call my brother in Calgary now and complain about how cold it is here.

Then hold the phone 4 feet away from my head as a string of profanities are emitted.

That's always good for a laugh.

No, a company desperate to be relevant is naming snowstorms. We're treating the entire concept with contempt

Since you asked, Subby:

A WINTRY PRECIPITATION EVENT IS EXPECTED FROM THURSDAY INTO EARLY
FRIDAY WITH A MODERATE SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION BECOMING MORE LIKELY
WITH SNOWFALL TOTALS FROM 2-4 INCHES.

From the National Weather Service, the *only* place to get relatively accurate forecasts

Here in southern NJ, nothing until Friday...so this better be a thread with some longevity.

Even then, 2-3 inches probably.  My son, a bit north of NYC will get 6-8.

Yeah, but according to your profile you hail from Manitoba, which - I think we can all agree - is actually a part of Canada... So that temp's prolly expressed in what you guys call "Degrees du Temprature du Celsius" And which, as we all know, is decidedly warmer than true American degrees.

22 degrees and clear here, but we're not due any real snow until like 7 tonight. That way it should dump it all on the roads overnight, so my first drive in to work after the holiday can be nice and treacherous.

We were originally going to head home today, but decided the other day to stay until Friday... before we knew about the storm. Looks like we're due for about a foot of snow here (snow all day Thursday). We'll probably leave on Saturday now.

Overnight low of zero Farenheit tonight.
High tomorrow of 7, overnight low of -2.
High on Friday of 2, overnight low of -14

It'll be about zero when we leave on Saturday morning.

Oh look,  it's the "weather" channel. Celebrity "news", weight loss schemes, and every other kind of idiotic crap any pop culture lover could want.

I am really not sure why the name has the word "weather" in it, but then I have the same confusion with Fox News.

Also, since the NWS hasn't mentioned this in their storm advisory for my area yet, it DOES appear that this dangerous storm may lead to me drunkenly losing my pants.  Thanks for the warning, subby.

KarmicDisaster: The Weather Channel blows goats for naming all these storms themselves.

bluorangefyre: NBC has Hannity on their roster?

No

The Weather Channel is owned as a joint venture between NBC Universal, Blackstone and Bain Capital (yeah, that Bain Capital).   Bain Capital also owns Clear Channel which own's the contracts for Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Beck.

Clear Channel also owns 850 media outlets around the nation which provides news to 115,000,000 Americans each week.  That's a lot of power for one company.

70% chance of snow, 1-2 inches forecast.  Boo.  You can send some of the blizzard my way if you like, I want to go sledding.

Forecast low is -17F on Friday in extreme southern Maine. I'll be babysitting a building; that's approaching pipe-freezing weather.
