So, they're bringing in Ronan the Accuser, thus bringing in the Kree Empire. And we'll have a third Infinity Gem. Not bad, but still not enough to make me want to see it.

Continuing the fairy tale theme, Christmas day musical "Into the Woods" combines the plots of several dark stories including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, played by Anna Kendrick, Lilla Crawford and Daniel Huttlestone, respectively. Meryl Streep is the eerie witch who ties all of the plotlines together.

The Sondheim musical in which Little Red Riding Hood is a molestation allegory and the characters wax existential about the "death of God"? Somehow, that doesn't say "Disney Film" to me.

It'll be interesting to see if and how much Disney cuts.  There's a kids version of the show that has no second act and some other cuts.  http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000189

Honestly not that big of a fan of comics, I know the big names if they had a cartoon show during the 90's. I'm not holding too much hope out for this movie as it just seems like the Avengers just without the help of previous movies to get the origins of the characters told for people like myself who haven't read the comics. Might be too many characters being first introduced in 2 hours to tell a good story.

All that said, considering the track record Marvel has had with their recent movies from Iron Man to Thor 2. I'll definitely watch this as they're keeping to a set plan/universe and not re-making and re-doing everyone's costume and origin with every movie like DC.

Though seeing the raccoon in something other then the gif makes me like this

And for anyone who doubts that audiences will accept a raccoon with a machine gun, I would like to remind everyone that Ted, a film about a foul mouthed teddy bear, grossed $550 million worldwide. And it was rated R.

Uh-huh. Look, don't blame others for having taste and expecting that somewhere in the hundreds of millions of dollars in budget, comic book films should have a (relatively) decent plot and interesting characters. So far, I've enjoyed every Marvel film that's come out except for Fantastic Four 2. Yes, even Daredevil and Ghost Rider had entertaining bits. I hate what was done with the Mandarin in IM 3 and thought it was a crappy cop-out, but I still enjoyed the majority of the film. I'm am not a 'slavish fanboy' expecting every word to be the same from comic to movie. I do have preferences and tastes and my preference is for the 90's Guardians over the current crop.

1) Epic quest for Captain America's shield 1000 years after it had been lost.
2) Alien race takes Tony Stark's armor and builds a religious cult around Tony, warping his intent and becoming a warrior race with galaxy-conquering ambitions
3) Silver Surfer with the Quantum Bands
4) Michael farking Korvac

As well as other reasons. Also, while I like Dan Abnett's Warhammer 40k stories and think his style works well with that universe, I don't particularly care for his comics style.

Was the 90's version perfect? No, it had some terrible moments. Like Wolverine's great-great-great-great granddaughter looking like him. *shudder* But over all, it had great moments, great character developments, and was a lot of fun.

So, kindly fark off and let the folks that enjoy other stuff state their preferences.

Prior to the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, no one outside of the comic book guy demographic had any clue who Tony Stark was, and now that character can bring in a billion dollar plus box office. The only thing that will hold back Guardians would be if the movie just winds up being downright terrible. Even then, Marvel has enough goodwill with their past few movies that they will still probably have a $100 opening weekend as a given even if reviews are tepid. At this point the Marvel brand pretty much says you're going to have a fun superhero movie.

Just the plot summary sounds solid, which will help immensely I think.  Ragtag bunch has to group up to save the galaxy.  It has a definite story arc defined, even if we've seen it before.  We'll hopefully see plenty of aliens that are alien, not just humans with masks, which was why the best parts of Green Lantern are the Corps sequences on Oa.
