(SanDiegoUnionTribune)   If the Bengals beat the Chargers on Sunday, the mayor of San Diego will send some local craft beers to the mayor of Cincinnati. If the Chargers win, San Diego's mayor gets chili, BBQ, and ice cream. How exactly is this a fair bet?   (utsandiego.com) divider line 45

Hmm..Graeters Icecream..friggin awesome, Montgomery Inn ribs..same..I buy the sauce, but it is still not wuite as good as what you get in the restaurant..as for the chili..either you lurv it or you think it is vile..it's very different. Cinnamon and chocolate in the sauce..I like it but then I am frm Cinci originally.

And don't knock it if you have not tried it..especially the ice cream..

Perfectly fair. When betting simple win/lose, the less likely your team is to win the better payout. Pretty simple.

Graeters is the shiznit.  The franchise down here in Lexington reopened a while back after a 10 year hiatus.  Good stuff.

By the time the box crosses the continent, the chili and the ribs will be cold and the ice cream will be milk. The beer will still be beer. Behold the bottled awesomeness.

mikeray: I can't believe they can call that shiat chili.

Skyline has a few locations in Florida, I suppose to cater to the snowbirds because the rest are in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky.  The first time I was presented with it I thought it was a bit odd - chili served over spaghetti with oyster crackers, but dang it if it ain't delicious.

If you're in the mood for traditional chili it probably doesn't fit the bill, but taken as its own thing, it works.

I don't get montgomery inn. ellis, pitt to plate and a dozen other places just destory it. It saddens me to see that shiat represent the city. Cinci actually has some damn fine bbq places.

You're thinking of the wrong end of the state. But to be honest the Humboldt brown hemp ale *is* pretty tasty.

I love that Todd Gloria is sending Hillcrest beer. Way to rep your council district, Mr. Acting Mayor. Awesome.

To be fair, the Bengals offered the San Diego mayor a nice selection of bowties but for some reason he declined.

The last time the Sand Diego Chargers came to Cincinnati for a playoff game was the Freezer Bowl. http://www.10news.com/news/bolts-bengals-faced-off-in-freezer-bowl-198 2-playoff-game-coldest-in-nfl-history-12302013

I'm from San Diego is there are some terrific local breweries. I would've thrown some fish tacos or california burritos into the mix as well.

Fish tacos? HA HA HA! You know, fish taco used to be a slang term for cunnilingus.

If I were the mayor of San Diego, I would make the staff eat that crap.  Of course, he'll be looking for new staff after that kind of torture, but sometimes drastic measures are both justified and needed.

I must say, I like the Cincy mayor's style. Instead of being all "haha, I take losing gracefully" he's saying "your team beats my team and I'll f*cking kill you."

That's what mayoral bets need.

It should be a crime what Californians do to Mexican food.

Having been to both cities, I'll say I'm glad I have no horse in this race. Yet I still weighed in. What an asshole I am.

I'm pretty sure the majority of us doesn't consider it "Mexican food" but just more of a local blend. I mean, it is named a California burrito. And no matter how you classify it, the fish taco is delicious.

A jumbo four-way with onions, crackers, and extra hot sauce is the 2nd best drunk food on earth.  Only Tahou's Garbage Plate beats it.

I don't think there's a better ice cream around than Graeter's Black Raspberry Chip. Of course, the San Diego mayor will have to go to Cincy to try it, the Chargers sure as hell aren't going to win at PBS against the Bengal defense.

Note to any out of towners every coming to cincy. Do not touch skyline. It used to be amazing, but it got bought out and the new owners destroyed the recipe to save money. Gold Star all the way.

Also, if gold star has this:

I saw Velveeta in chili in Houston. It was regrettable. Too many of those canned jalapeños as well.

I did have a really tasty chile relleno there, though. They deep fried it, and it was outstanding. It's good to go with regional strengths, and deep fry + Mexican food is right in the Texan wheelhouse. Fresh and light offerings like a grilled fish burrito, not so much.

/we tend to pan fry or griddle chile rellenos here in SD.
