Love that song, love the headline, and hell yes I like videos of little kids rocking out with skill on display.

Cowbell at 1:30!

Apart from the little kid with skill, two things stuck out in the video to me - the crazy hi-fi tower in the background, and the sound and tone of the snare.  I'd love to get that from any of my snares!

You know, listening to this, it struck me that its' easy to forget how great a band Guns n Roses was at their height and how good some of the music they've made is, because it all got overshadowed by Axl Rose's insanity.

he's a bit fat.

Back in '88 I recorded that entire LP to cassette played at 45rpm.  I used that for my warm-up routine before playing stuff like Zeppelin or Rush.
Kids can really develop skills with a single minded focus.

The knocking speed up.

GnR is one of the greatest rock bands ever. And they, not Nirvana, ended the hair band thing.

Maybe you weren't there in 1988, but after GnR came out, everyone took their makeup off, even Kiss.

I had already been in a post-punk band for several years by the time 1988 rolled around. Yes, I was there.

This kid needs to be in a foo fighter video.

I'm impressed that the drums sound good audio (quality wise) in this video.

The kid's got some more impressive stuff in his repertoire, though I'm guessing subby chose this particular song for the headline. Check his YouTube channel for Fly by Night or Hot For Teacher. There's also footage of him playing a mini drum kit at 3 years old.

I was a kid of the 60's, back then he would have been yelled at to get his ass outside and play...

Yeah, I went digging around.  Unreal.  Kid has some chops.

I was there.  KISS took their makeup off around 1983-84.  Nirvana definitely ended the hair band thing - hair bands were still very strong (commercially) from 1988 to 1990 - but I agree with you there was something different about GnR compared to other hair bands.  They didn't go way overboard with the image, and the music was actually very good and not particularly commercial.  They certainly weren't following The Formula all the other hair bands were following, and they had real grit when the other hair bands were overly polished and produced.  But they didn't end hair bands, in fact I'd say they were the pinnacle of hair metal and showed what could have been if the other bands had focused as much on their music as they did on their looks and productions.  GnR is what hair metal should have been all along.

Nirvana was a shot across the bow, and after them there was no more hair metal.  The before and after was like night and day.

The thing that stuck out for me is that this kid had an ease to his playing that many of the good young kids lack. Too often you see little kids playing drums/bass/guitar and while they're technically proficient, they play like little emotionless robots. This six year old had SWAGGER

Kiss took off their makeup in 1983, so Guns N' Roses had nothing to do with that. However, it is true that GnR was the beginning of the end for hair bands and Nirvana was the final nail in the coffin.
