Ye gods!  They're from the future!

As far as I know, the Zero Degree line went through England is only because when it was decided, they used to hold most of the world power, and they just took it.

If we want, we can say, well, we hold the power now (would have been easier pre-2001), and want to shift it the way we want. Then draw the International date line in a way that it just touches the East-most point of USA (and screw Canada on this process, since now they'll have two different dates).

I can't think of any other way.

Correct. Paris and Giza were also suggested as possible meridians. I think there were a few others, but I don't recall off the top of my head.

Pretty much so does everything here in Texas. When I emigrate, that won't be much of a change for me.

After I moved here last year I ran the numbers. More than 60% of the shows on SyFy in the States were not science fiction or were only loosely related to science fiction.
Meanwhile the SciFi Channel here in Australia had 80% sci fi shows and only a few of those stupid competition reality shows.

If they steal our thunder, where would they keep it?

Some kind of dome, perhaps?

Louisville, Ky says to Sydney -> Nice try at copying us.

/not even close to Thunder over Louisville.

Their New Year is Metric, so it's not as big as ours....

This is what happens when good channels make money. Someone in charge completely fks it up. I wouldn't be surprised to see the channel go away completely because it's no longer making money.
Happened to G4. I'd go so far as to say it's happening to all Discovery channels.

Flying cars were quietly abandoned as a VeryBadIdea(TM) given that people have enough trouble keeping their vehicles contained to a pathway in two dimensions.
