Yeah. Syringes are usually harder to get that the actual dope. So, no.

Wait so people DON'T expect to find used needles in their Christmas presents?

I've been doing something wrong then.

Some sicko did this for a few months in a mall in Sherbrooke,Quebec . Mostly in pants pockets. After the 4th victim, many stores started going through all their clothing, so much that one of them got pricked.

Syringes may have IDs -- somehow they catch people dumping medical waste in the ocean.

"You do not expect on Christmas morning to be opening presents to find dirty, used needles in your Christmas present," Basye said.

Sounds like something Santa might give you if you've been naughty.

It was from a Walmart in Longview, so I believe it.

I love how Walmart gives its customers that extra value around the holiday season

Someone was supposedly putting carpet tacks in meatballs and dropping them in area dog parks around Montreal. Hope it was just an internet scare, but what if it's true?  WTF?

You're so cynical...okay, I was going to post the same thing.

My guess is that someone with syringes on their person was being watched/tailed by a cop so they just walked through the men's section and ditched them in a hoodie as they walked by.

Based on the headline I thought this was going to be another porn on a 3DS incident.

They were finding syringes in the store in the Cartersville, GA Walmart a few years ago.

And this woman just happened to buy two different garments, likely from two different racks, that both had needles in them. She didn't notice either of them when buying or wrapping the gifts and neither did the cashier. One I might believe. Two is a lot less believable.

I just watched the video long enough to see the "house".  Someone is pulling a chilli finger.

MFAWG: Yeah. Syringes are usually harder to get that the actual dope. So, no.

I'd doubt the story for other reasons, but not for that.
I've purchased syringes for DIY projects without needing any prescription, name or ID.  They don't require anything really, and they're cheap.  You can just go to the pharmacy counter and ask for them - they really don't care.
I don't see any sharp tips on Amazon, just the blunt and syringes, but I suspect you could buy them from insulin supply stores online.
That's even assuming this isn't in an area with some sort of clean needle charity program.

I'd wonder more how the hoodie was folded and wrapped without noticing two syringes OR having them fall out or break.  If it was the syringe and not just the needle, they aren't exactly flat.

2013-12-31 11:25:47 AM
Syringes are easy to come by, especially at local health clinics. So, I'm pre-emptively calling this story BS as well. Either the two of them are in on this, or it was planned by the mother (and is harmless save for the emotional damage done to her son, or is munchausen).

It sounds like it was two needles in the pocket of one garment, but only one stabbed him.

No mention of a second needle in the clip though.

Pretty sure the station just had to give a helpful visual aid of what a syringe looks like, for those viewers who only smoke or snort their drugs and aren't high-falutin' enough for the injected kind.

2013-12-31 11:45:20 AM
Derp, the video doesn't mention a second syringe, but the article does. Regardless, those have caps on them. What kind of junkie/vandal is going to drop an uncapped needle in a pocket somewhere, then think "Oh shiat! I better give them this too." and put the cap in there with it.

As a diabetic I dispose of my used syringes properly. Next to the local playground.

Hoodie was from a Wal-mart?

I am Jack's complete lack of suprise.

2013-12-31 12:00:55 PM
I did not see any indication that the syringes pictured in the article were in fact the syringes found in the hoodie. That being said, I have to agree with the others who pointed out that this lady bought them, took them home, handled them while she was wrapping them, and noticed nothing. Anyone up for a bet on which participant they actually belonged to?

/I say they belonged to the mom. She was mainlining and the dad approached. She immediately stuffed them into the hoodie she was wrapping. I am also betting she forgot she did it, as she had to leave the wrapping to go do something else for a few moments. Darn that short term memory loss!
