Oh, I thought it would help kill some kittens. Off to another site for a few minutes.

2013-12-31 09:43:05 AM
Uh... what? I'm pretty sure nobody thinks these are real, subby.

2013-12-31 09:44:41 AM
So "brilliant satirist" is someone who makes a calender out of crappy Facebook posts?

Subby - I think you're easily excited or easily confused or both.

You need to check your reality privilege, shiatlord.

No, but they wish they were, which is still kind of a win for the satirist.

Congratulations, Fark Photoshoppers: you are all brilliant satirists

dammit.  I need to recreate my host file and make sure I send jezebel and other such dreck to 127.0.0.1.  Or maybe something to remind me not to click on stupid links.

Subby may have failed in discerning what's what about "brilliant satirist" but subby got the damned thing greenlit.

Is irony the fact that Jezebel is a bunch of whiny social justice warriors?

I follow that dude on Twitter. Though somewhat amusing, he's neither brilliant nor a satirist.

These make good friends but only when one member of a large group you're going out with.

Maybe calling it brilliant satire was itself brilliant satire. Could it be meta?

A run of the mill graphic designer and zine publisher is a far cry from "famed." Sounds like someone is writing about a buddy.

I'm pretty sure Subby was being satirical when when he used the word "brilliant".

Also, what the hell is a social justice warrior?

2013-12-31 09:55:23 AM
Too bad. He could make some money if he could cobble together thirteen or fourteen similar sheets.

Satirist? Farting in public is satire? The meaning of that word has changed.

Crudbucket: Can't be, the link is from Jezebel but the creator is a man.

Jezebel has men in it. Whats his fark who pretended to have cancer on reddit and then solicited for donations works for them.

He's also the guy who works in Womens studies to meet college girls.

And he made the celebrity Stalking app.

2013-12-31 09:58:38 AM
Ignoring for a moment the failure of the headline, his blog has some amusing stuff on it.  The linked page missed the best fake calendar, which is clearly "Christian Buns."  Can be found here (NSFW)

The meaning is the same.  The bar has just fallen pretty low since any idiot with a couple hundred bucks can buy a copy of Photoshop.

Apparently it is those FB friends of yours who post passive-aggressive text memes affirming their right to be mad at their friends. Or, you know, chicks.

fluffy2097: He's also the guy who works in Womens studies to meet college girls.

That's probably the single dumbest way to meet women in college that I've ever heard of.  And I've seen guys enroll in fashion merchandising courses to meet women.

I thought Jezebel were the satirists.  They were the ones after all claiming that pink pens which cost more than regular pens, but which no one forces anyone to buy, is an example of the overwhelming oppression of patriarchy.

Man, this site just keeps going. Scroll down far enough and he ironically  busted on Jezebel some time ago.

THIS is that crap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law

One of the truest of the unwritten laws. There's others, but Poe's law is amazing. For the sincere person who says "Check your privilege" in  a bar or social setting completely seriously, to the person who says "Check your privilege" in regard to arguing about pizza toppings to order, this calendar has equal appeal. That's the brilliance of it. I would say half of my posts over the years on fark have easily been misinterpreted through this.

I think it's also distinct from trolling. IN a troll, especially a good one, the sincerity of the belief can be questioned, but generally it's trying to be inflammatory. Poe's law is really about sincerity over just getting a response. A good example would be a long screed of hate speech, chock full oh buzzwords, and then juxtaposing that with like.... the guy who thinks aliens, the government, or some Putin/Obama shadow-war is behind the recent bombings in Russia. No amount of sarcasm font can make the prior anything but a troll, but the latter - there's the magic. As long as there's people who genuinely and sincerely are afraid that Obama is putting Morgellans in the chem trails and using flouride and wind turbines to weaken the will of the American people - even a banal statement can be hilarious.

But yeah...
/sarcasm font.
//So much sarcasm font..
///took your post super cerial

I've never understood this.  It seems to pop up in nearly every Fark thread, but it makes no sense.  First, it's unsupported by facts, as there is nothing on that particular blog that would actually generate any revenue.  Second, even if there were revenue generators on the page, your click through won't make one red cent's worth of difference (literally).  Third, if you were actually concerned about making sure the blog didn't generate any revenue, the intelligent thing would be to ignore it rather than post a comment that draws additional attention to the link (in a miniature version of the Streisand effect).

I hypothesize that people who post these "I won't give that guy the revenue from my click" messages completely overestimate the value of their presence on the internet, giving them the false impression that anyone gives a fark about what they do or do not click on.  Alternately, they know that their clicks don't actually matter, but they pretend that they do simply so they can attempt to make a self righteous (but ultimately self defeating) grab for attention.
