As a Saints fan, that pleases me. That said, can we drop this silliness about Matt Ryan being an "elite" QB? I think yesterday capped off that point quite clearly.

I think he's decent and any decent QB who has Julio Jones, Roddy White & Tony Gonzalez to throw to is going to get a nice bump. This season, we saw what happens when you're missing those components.

How does a shiatty O-line mean he's no where near elite? Getting sacked 9 times doesn't mean your bad or the defense that good, to get sacked that much means you line sucks donkey ass.

Besides I don't think anyone has said he's elite here, at best he's top 10-15 right now and the team is doing nothing to fix that issue. Smith's problem is just like Richt, he's too loyal to players he has, otherwise he would have demanded better line help. Our GM declaring the line situation is fine a little bit ago is more telling, either he's a complete moron or just stupid but he's a bigger problem than Smith if he really believes that.

Aww...I had a headline all raring to go for this one:

"Greg Schiano now free to pursue lifelong dream of being middle school gym teacher"

New coach is gonna have so much fun trimming out the Rutgers toadies.

Well, this frees Schiano up for the Penn State gig.

Wonder what terrible decision the Glazers will make next.  I'm almost hoping they go full crazy and try to move the team to Manchester just to see how apoplectic some of my friends still in the TB area get.

Atlanta really needs to find a good center. That would do a world of good for their O-line.

One shiatty season riddled by injuries doesn't get you fired when your prior years are consecutive wining seasons.  A coordinator or two will be reassigned/fired at worse.

However the injury excuse only works for 1 year when you don't have a Super Bowl bling-shield, if he goes less that 8 wins next year he's gone

ShadowKamui: if he goes less that 8 wins next year he's gone

Mike Smith and Matt Ryan suffer from the same problem...they're too good to fire, but not good enough to be the answer Atlanta really needs...at least not good enough to take 'em to the promised land.

Brees's numbers last year were comparable to other years with the Saints. It's hard to win games when your defense is historically bad and sometimes putting up a forty burger isn't good enough.

I am a Titans fan, and have an admitted man-crush on Jeff Fisher. Having said that:

When coaches switch jobs, there will be one or two players that they take with them to the new team. Matt Hasselbeck from Green Bay to Seattle with Holmgren, or Bart Scott going to the Jets with Rex. When Jim Schwartz left the Titans to be the HC in Detroit, he was followed by Steven Tulloch and Kyle Vanden Bosch- his MLB and his pass-rush guy.

When Jeff Fisher took the Rams job, what player did he bring along to help him instill his brand of football and organizational culture?

Cortland Finnegan. Think about that for a minute.

I put Rodgers and Brees in the very good category but they can't take over games like the others can or force teams to fark up. Sometimes it seems like the two elite I named seem to know where defenses are going to be and pass around them while the rest have to rely on the team to force that mistake.

I'm not the biggest Roddy fan either, he wants himself to look great fark the team. That is something that doesn't do great in team sports, I wouldn't be sad if they traded him and get more like Julio or Douglas in here that will get dirty and block.
