Time? Fail?

Agreed.

Wake me up with real numbers when the deadline is approaching.

White House officials have yet to release data on the 14 states managing their own exchanges.

There IS a fail here alright Subby.  Especially since those 14 states include CA and NY.

Oh no, "only" 1.1 million more American households have insurance now than did previously. Clearly this country was better off when they couldn't get insurance, and should go back to those halcyon days.

Do these figures represent the total number of people who have put a plan in their shopping cart, but haven't checked out yet or are these people who have already paid?  The article doesn't say.  Before they were just reporting people who had selected a plan, but hadn't paid or committed to anything.

Considering the secrecy and deception the admin has had with the law, the site and the enrollment figures so far, these figures cannot be believed no matter what they say.

2 million private, 4 million medicaid.

1.1 million on the fed site. Another million on state run sites. Just under a million on Medicaid.

Yes Republicans, run against this in another 6 months...

according to the number of tax returns filled by this date, there must be about a hundred million Americans who aren't going to file at all. Maybe we should stop collecting taxes all together.

so 5 million lost coverage.  And now 1 million have enrolled.  goal is 7 million.  So, they just need 11 million to reach that goal.  on their way to their goal, they are currently at -4 million.

A phlebotomist whined to me just this morning -- while taking down my private insurance information to handle the billing for the procedure her private company was performing -- that "all these forms are just going to get worse now that the government is running health care."

I made sure to watch carefully that she wasn't grabbing a needle for my draw out of the pretty red box attached to the wall.

The deadline for the 2012 farm census was something like Jan 2nd 2013. They shut it down in late May.

I expect we will see quite a bit of an uptick from now until March...

When 4.7 of those 5 million who "lost their plan" due to their insurance company gouging them for 4 years rather than becoming compliant sign their new plan, you will still be desperately clinging to that 5 million number, wont you?

How about the 4 million that lost their plan and did not sign up yet and will have no insurance come Jan 1?

So you (and the dems) know better than those people what plan they really want?  They are too dumb to figure out what they want and they should just defer to you dems and you will take care of them for them?

How about not consolidating more power?  How about not making people dependent on you?

In this thread:

Democratic partisans: crow about a huge surge in last-minute signups.

Republican partisans: bray about signups not meeting the stated goal.

People just trying to buy insurance: still wondering when, or if, they'll get a bill from the carrier in time for a binder payment to be processed by the December 31st? January 6th? January 10th? deadline in order to actually maintain coverage.

Insurance carriers: Fortunately for us, there are no political points to be scored by talking about the ineptness, incompetence, and worse-than-the-government customer service we provide, so nobody's talking about that. This is awesome, we don't just get to fark the customers after we've got their premiums, we get to fark 'em even before we get their first payments!

LOL. Your dedication and "you know what's better" fake argument is really cute.

Insurance companies had 4 YEARS to get compliant. Why didn't they take care of their customers?

And who says those 4 million have to sign up? Why can't their insurance companies do what is right? Why did these oh so knowledgeable customers not know they had policies that weren't compliant for FOUR YEARS?

It sounds like you are calling 5 million people clueless idiots. They should have known, right? Because they were all SO WELL INFORMED...

The vast majority were automatically enrolled in more expensive plans and not dropped at all. The companies were fleecing them but it's all ACA's fault because of course it is

The rules kept changing.  even to this day deadlines keep getting changed and waivers granted.  they can't change their business model daily to meet 0bama's every whim.

hardinparamedic: Didn't the rules change to where they could keep getting fleeced (ahem, having insurance) if they so choose to do so?

Those policies were banned by law, so insurers changed their whole system to comply with the new law.  They aren't going to change their whole system back so some people can stay on the illegal plans for a couple of weeks.  And insurers have that option.  They aren't forced to offer the illegal plans.  And the illegal plans are still illegal - the admin is just choosing to not enforce the law.  Until his poll numbers go up.  Then he could very well retroactively enforce the law.  Or enforce it arbitrarily, for political retribution against insurers that don't toe the line with the administration.  what is the law right now?  No one knows.  There are the laws on the books.  then the laws the admin just won't enforce.  Then the waivers and extensions and delays that are constantly changing and unpredictable.

Yeah, these little half-truths you provide are misleading and disingenuous and without any context at all.

It doesn't make you any less wrong if you are in the majority.

My father-  a 72 year old alcoholic, diabetic, ex smoker who recently had emergency heart surgery and a pacemaker installed with zero deductible- has been complaining bitterly that his health insurance went up $35 a month because of the "moochers" on the system who have expensive health costs.

Now, my dad was a full time truck driver for over 50 years, and spent a good portion of that time doing hard construction, so if anyone DESERVES to retire without worrying about money, it's him.

However, Fox News told him that Obama was going to take over healthcare, and it turns out he still has to pay $700 a month for he and my mother (the 66 year old, INCREDIBLY clumsy woman with muscular dystrophy, arthritis, and the inability to wait until the goddamn lawn mower starts SPINNING to stick her hand in the blades) to have health care on demand with no deductible, $4 prescriptions and a $10 co pay.

STOPS spinning. She had to wait until the lawnmower blades STOPPED spinning. Which she failed to do.

I'd like them to take over the energy sector too.  My arsewipe electric company was just awarded a 12.5% raise for private and a 24% raise for business. Just how do they expect us to keep up.  Next I'll be hearing how the CEO's and Big Chiefs will be having their 3 week  holiday conventions in Maui and everyone will find keys to their new Hummers under their chairs! If you do not think the revolution is coming you must be very rich indeed.
