Diogenes: an affection for knocking on doors

I thought Big Bang would be that one.

I would've thought that'd be "Fantasy soft-core porn"

/because only one person on that show is an actual "geek"

he doesn't really like Homeland because he has intimate knowledge that their portrayal of how a Manchurian candidate operates is pretty ridiculous.

I admit I like the show.  But yeah, not like any geeks I've ever known.

House of Cards, GoT, Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire?

I can't fault him on his tastes.

Somebody will, obviously.

At least he didn't say it was some period piece on PBS.

Anyone who likes beer and GoT can't be all bad.

So, we're paying for B. HUSSAIN 0bungle's Netflix and premium cable while millions of americans are unemployed!  how dare he watch TV when so many people out there don't have one!  This is an outrage!

It's worse than that!!

""working his way through the DVD box set of AMC's 'Breaking Bad,'""

I bet he was sent those for free!! Yet another sign that Hollywood is in bed with this administration!!!!

And why couldn't he download those?! Why does he have to support the Chinese government by buying products made overseas?! Does he have any idea how much fossil fuels it takes to make and ship those disks?! What about his carbon foot print!!

SilentStrider: There's a Lannister joke in here somewhere.

A Lannister always convenes a bipartisan committee to produce a nonbinding set of recommendations for addressing debts accrued over the last three generations, and a plan for paying them back over an unspecified period, while also presiding over a body that has not stopped adding to that mountain of debt and refusing to allow the Lannister to divert collected funds to pay them.

At least he didn't say  Girls.

I would've thought that binge-watching Breaking Bad and following the endless hour-long episodes of Boardwalk Empire would be inconsistent with being in charge of the entire federal government, just from a time-management perspective.  But then I would've thought you couldn't get in that many rounds of golf, either.  It's good to be king.

And does anyone seriously believe he watches all those shows and NOT Orange Is The New Black?

Obama is a Game of Thrones fan? That's awesome. I guess watching the Lannisters, Freys and Cleganes commit one atrocity after another makes stomaching the GOP that much easier.

Oh, man, take the time to click through to the NYT article.  It's delightful.

Highlight 1: Obama, wasting his time between episodes of GoT, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, and Breaking Bad, watching Kevin Spacey pretending to be a political leader in Washington, wishing things were more "efficient" like in Spacey's world, marveling that "This guy's getting a lot done."  The irony meter is pegged.

Highlight 2:  The NYT apparently thinks that GoT is a retelling of the "wars in medieval Europe."  WTF?

If he was a real fan, he would have fired Denis McDonough or Jack Lew and replaced with Peter Dinkilage and renamed the position as "hand of the president"

I bet during the Shutdown (or "Slimdown" for you Fox News viewers) he watched and re-watched the Red Wedding scene many times, looking for inspiration...

/someone on Fark actually suggested inviting Boehner, Cantor and others to the White House, locking the doors, and playing "the Rains of Castamere"

It's a well known fact that there were dragons, in medieval europe.  They even show their locations on maps.

even if he didn't kill any of them, just the act of doing that could make them (at least the ones that read/watch the series) piss their pants.

OK... First off let me say that I am only 2/3 of the way through House of Cards, but so far it is the most boring piece of crap I have seen in a long time.  The only thing keeping me going is Spacey, and that is wearing thinner than the hairpiece they have him in.

Perhaps I was spoiled by seeing the British trilogy first, but lord sufferin' Jesus, there hasn't been this much riveting political drama since The Phantom Menace exploded on the screen like a bout of post Vindaloo Diarrhea.

Gawk as Francis becomes a total doofus in a live television debate!

Thrill to the Epic Education Bill being passed!

Watch in amazement as his wife looks sad and lonely again and again and again!

Behold the awesome majesty of Francis barking orders at subordinates while simultaneously checking his Blackberry Bold.

I am beginning to think that people cut this thing a lot of slack because it was Netflix's first original series and it had a big time Hollywood star in it, but so far it's a swing and a miss.

I highly recommend the original British version. It's a lot darker and a lot funnier.

Only lesser dragons. No "A" dragons, just their "B" dragons here.

He has. There was an article a few years back where he said Omar may be the best character ever put on a TV show.
I'm just glad he's shown some restrained and not ordered a drone strike on the kid who plays Joffrey.

Probably because he's read the books and knows that Joffrey's about to get his comeuppance.

Fine. I grudgingly admit that the President's taste in television shows is alright.
