An older Will Smith came back in time only to be beaten to death by the police? That's Fresh.

What is it with these cases of the police not seeking medical attention for prisoners?

This article: It [lawsuit] also says that Johnson was left handcuffed on the floor of the Hazelwood city jail for several hours before an ambulance was called.

Previous article Suspected drunk driver dies after arrest by Hazelwood PD: Police say Johnson was awake and conscious when he was taken away in an ambulance from the scene of the traffic stop. His condition reportedly deteriorated en route to the hospital.

Slight discrepancy...

Are the police suing the family for expenses?

Phew, glad they cleared that up!

Lawsuit? I find that offensive.

It should be a hanging of the people responsible, or at least a jailing and blacklisting from LEO, possibly with a forehead branding.

I wonder what the medical records say.

Every jail has a nurse.  It's crazy that they didn't get him help.

THIS.

He never made it to the jail.  Still curious about the medical records though.  Of course all of that will come out in the lawsuit.

Well, upon realizing that they have gone "too far," they ignore the problem hoping it'll get better on its own. Realize that, on the whole, we are not dealing with smart people here.

/ironically, criminals get arrested because most of them aren't too smart either. Please conclude this equation with the snark of your choice.

Well, I guess the question "whi shall stand guard to the guards themselves?" has been answered.

Moral of the story.... Don't engage in activity that may result in being arrested.

And, remember, cops were asked to investigate cops, and cops found that cops didn't do anything wrong. Thank goodness for that!

He never made it to a real Jail. Depending on the story, he was taken from the scene or was at the jail in the cop shop (drunk tank) before going to a real one. They usually have to process you before sending you down to the county jail.

/a friend told me.

Gee submittard guess who else died of a drug overdose after fighting the cops. Of course it was millions of dollars and decades later and it was in his own pool with no cops around. If you're drunk and high enough to fight cops and need multiple tasings to slow you down I'm going to want to see the full tox screen beforei jump to any conclusions.

I would like to point out that the headline assumes that he was beaten unconscious which is only what the lawsuit alleges. Not saying it didn't happen but it has not been proven. Watch the video.

No, they don't. I worked in a jail for four years and we had no medical personnel on staff. If an inmate got sick, we hauled them to the doctor's office, or the hospital if they got sick after the doctor's office closed.

Maybe larger jails or state prisons have nurses but not every jail.

Aaaannnd, there it is.  Came in looking for someone who sympathizes with police brutality, and also apparently does not believe in due process, since hey, if you've been arrested you're obviously guilty.  Your parents must be proud.

The guy responsible is already dead, not sure how blacklisting him and branding him would have the slightest impact.

City attorney Peter Dunne says St. Louis County Police were asked to investigate to avoid any perception of a conflict and that they concluded there was no wrongdoing on the part of officers.

We are clear. The local DA looked into it and nothing wrong was done.

Joking. This is why police:
1-Have malpractice insurance when policy is not followed. Stop having the taxpayers fund police that cause trouble.
2-If police was followed the department can be sued.
3-Since the local DA relies on the police to get convictions, this is clearly a conflict of interest. A special state or federal da gets to have the same fun with the police that little people have with the city da.

His name was "Antonio Johnson", so I'm assuming he was half Italian.

He's from Glasgow Village so the other half is probably Scottish.
