So, we get the fun of a hot new coach, followed by them taking Manziel at 4. Manziel sucks while Bridgewater takes the Texans to the playoffs while the Browns go 6-10.

IT ALL GOES AROUND AGAIN!

But Banner and Lombardi -- who gave Chud Barky Mingo to work with -- keep their jobs. Amazing.

I can completely see this happening. Somebody better lube up that revolving door cause it's go time.

It's just astounding how the Browns have sucked like an Electrolux since they came back into the league.  This is a league where teams routinely go from worst to first in a single season. How have they managed to always suck?

The last Browns coach that was any good, the team was named after him.  And then he didn't hire Bill Walsh to coach the Bengals and Walsh went back home to Northern California.

I used to hate the Browns when I was a kid. Then I realized there is no need to hate them, they're too sad. At this point I'd actually like to see them at least be competitive. That being said, I feel like they need to just give up whatever they need to to get a proven quarterback, not another first rounder who will inevitably let them down. Start there. Or just keep being a laughingstock, whatever.

Rumors I have already heard are:

1. McDaniels. Tebow time!
2. Norv Turner.
3. If Schwartz is fired - Cleveland is his rumored landing spot

Looks like the factory of sadness is primedfor some record years!

As a Bears fan and having closely observed what Schwartz has done to Detroit, Cleveland REALLY doesn't want him.

Poor, poor Detroit.

The last four coaches fired in the AFC North have been Browns coaches. I'm sure this is the firing that will turn it around.

6-10? You have an awful lot of faith in Manziel.

Sounds like the players who were asked about it in the locker room after the game were pretty pissed at the idea. Whoever the new coach is coming in might have an interesting time getting the locker room on their side unless they're really well known/respected already.

I'd have fired him after that piece-of-crap draft last year.

Ask the Lions ownership. They're the masters at that for decades.

Rooting for a team is much more fun when you take the city off of the team name. It's damn near 2014, you don't have to root for a team simply because you live close to it. These corporations don't give half a shiat about you as a fan, you should not feel obligated to root for a team because it's not a matter of civic pride to root for a loser.

Can't forget the curse of Barry Sanders and now the curse of Jason Hanson.

/Ok, ok, Hanson retired at the start of the year, it's too early to call it a curse

I wouldn't count on that, for two reasons:

1 - That would require Jerrah admit he made a mistake
2 - Garrett's apparently a yes man to Jerrah. Anybody worth a damn who would be available to replace Garrett would not be. And Jerrah can't have that. It bruise his wittle ego.

/god, why can't we fire the owner?

Browns continue to lack any stability or coherent vision.

And who knows, maybe Chud would make a scent OC for Baltimore. God knows Caldwell couldn't call a game of horseshoes.

How about more than a polite nod to Blanton Collier, who replaced Paul Brown???  8 years, 7 winning seasons (his last one was .500), 5 playoff appearances, and the last title Cleveland has won in any sport.

/Firing Chud was asinine

I find it amazing that these guys in the front office get hired, and don't seem to realize that you need more than one year of continuity in order to establish a system.  You lose Hoyer for the year and end up having to use Weeden, who's established as no good; and yet, the coach is the reason why you drafted so poorly?

At this point, it's hard to even feel sorry for em.  They're bringing it on themselves.

Even the goddamn PLAYERS know better than to get rid of him for 1 year.  Idiots.

Beware_Me: [i.imgur.com image 599x383]

The only thing that is consistent about the Browns has been their inconsistency, especially in the front office.  And Jimmy Haslam having temper tantrums at games and deciding to fire coaches on a whim isn't helping.

And this firing has basically destroyed any prospect the Browns had of keeping Alex Mack and TJ Ward, and any prospect of finding a quality FA to replace either. So two of those draft picks they stocked up will have to go to replacing them.  And probably a third for D'Qwell Jackson, who the club will more than likely cut to save $4.1 million in March...at which time he'll get the fark out of here, too (and this after two days ago saying he'd be shocked if he wasn't around next year; now I'd be shocked if he was.)  Thus leaving the cupboard even barer than it was when Chud got the job.

And speaking of...damn straight Norv is the lead candidate, 'cuz who the fark would want this job after what they did to a guy for whom this was his dream job? And, like I said, what free agent would want to come into this grease fire?  The best they got last year were Kruger and Bess, and one was invisible while we all wish the other one was.

That point was 10 years ago.

At this point, anyone who fires Norv Turner as a head coach should be fired or voted out of the league.
