Today: "Sources" say Shanahan to be fired in a day or two.
Tomorrow: Shanahan wanted for questioning in brutal homicide of alleged Redskin "sources".

Good.

Now all we need is a truck to accidentally run over Dan Snyder a few times and maybe things can start getting somewhere.

I didn't know Dan Snyder could be fired.

But when are they gonna change their racist team name?

2013-12-29 05:21:09 PM
Since it's the Redskins should the headline say Shanahan's going to be scalped after the game?

That's a shame, he's obviously a great coach what with all the playoff victories he's had since Elway retired. Does anyone even know off the top of their head how many that is? I'll just google it. Ok here we go. Wait...that can't be right...

2013-12-29 05:31:36 PM
We'll this sucks. I was really looking forward to the continued comedy of errors in DC. Realistically, though, that NFC East title was a fluke and it's time for 'ol Rat Teeth to go.

Moving forward, if I were any of the candidates mentioned in TFA, I'd decline. Washington would be the absolute last place I'd want to be these days, if for no other reason than Dan Snyder. shiat, if I were any of those guys, I'd rather work for Jerrah! At least you get to start with a mediocre team in Dallas.

DNRTFA. I'd like the 'Skins to get a defensive-minded head coach with some ties to the 80s/90s glory years of the franchise. Specifically, I'd like Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles.

Likely not a big enough name for Danny Boy though.

meanwhile, Rex Ryan has been extended by the Jets

When Lil' Danny hired Shanahan, a lot of people saw it as Lil' Danny admitting he needed someone to take control of the football operations and that he might back off.  With the way this is ending, I wonder if Lil' Danny is going to start asserting himself in personnel moves again.

The Redskins are just one of those teams I just want to suck.  I hate to see them having any sort of success.  So I'm going to be happy for quite a while, it looks like.

I read that as Shanahan is getting a canned ham.

As funny as it is that the Browns will fire their coach who had only 1 year,  QB injuries and traded away their only RB; the Lions will be the bigger mistake on the lake and keep Schwartz.  The Fords have done it before.

Yeah the Browns move is weird.

I forgot to put the Cowboys on the list. Jerry Jones can only be believed until he stops talking.

They would be dumb to not start looking for the QB of the future. He can carry a clipboard for a few years. And Jerry already said they won't be looking for a Quarterback in the draft just like....oh my is he going to hire Mack Brown????

Are you a Giants fan?

The chances of the Giants hiring a better coach than Coughlin probably hover around zero. Replacing a successful coach is hard. It could happen (see Chip Kelly and it's a stretch on that), but it rarely does.

Plus he does have two very shiny rings.

Both when his head was on the chopping block.

Parcells won 2 Super Bowls for us. Coughlin got out of the way of teams that won 2 Super Bowls.

Yeah, by Jerry Jones. Who also fired Jimmy Johnson and his two rings and Barry Switzer's one ring (which was really Jimmy's by proxy).

And Landry hadn't had a winning record in a few years.

There were 3 head coaches between Parcells and Coughlin. Of them, only Fassell had a winning record (.523). To be fair, Fassell did get them to the SuperBowl.

It's also worth noting that the Giants made the playoffs a grand total of 4 times between Parcells and Coughlin. Coughlin has made it 5 times.

That's not how it works. Dallas can't kick Jerruh anywhere. The only way out is when he kicks the bucket, but there's an even bigger dolt waiting in the wings (see Stephen Jones).

I think they'd he better off if Charlotte ran the team!

They've missed 3 out if the last 4 postseasons. They just got hot and won it. Then Spagnoulo left.

Yeah the biggest problem is when the dolt just happens to be the guy writing the checks.

Both those owners suck, Atlanta had a shiatty owner for 30+ years until they finally sold the team and did nothing to build a fan base. At least the braves games aren't half full of other fans during down years like the dome is, its pathetic and I blame the Smith family for shiatting on the team so long.

And if they miss next year, it's probably time to part ways. It's awful hard to dismiss a guy two years after winning a championship.

I get that you don't think that he is a good coach, but unless they get a Cowher or a Dungy (Coughlin has as many rungs combined) my original point still stands. The guy who replaces Coughlin will probably be worse.

ladodger34: And if they miss next year, it's probably time to part ways. It's awful hard to dismiss a guy two years after winning a championship.

Also, its not Caughlin's fault that Kevin Gilbride can't call anything other than "short slant" or "deep bomb." Or that Eli can't make either one of those throws without finding the other team.  Or that it took 6 games for the offensive line to figure out how to barely function as a unit.

Caughlin is a good coach.  His coordinators suck.  Give him an ultimatum: It's either your crappy assistants or it's all of you.
