Maybe if the FOLLOWERS of said religions lit up, or drank shroom tea. or whatever more often, the world would be an infinitely better place.

Uptight assholes wielding the Good Book of their particular flavor to advance their cause have done more damage to humanity than all other causes combined.

I wrote this paper for my freshman year philosophy class.

I have seen and communed with ancient gods of nature who were worshiped in certain cultures long before christianity existed, while I was tripping.
I knew they were gods when I saw them, but it wasn't until a few years later in college that my visions were confirmed while taking a world religions class.

I wonder how different the world would be if the Gnostic sects of Christianity had won all those years back. Maybe stuff like this would've been part of worship, making for a somewhat more interesting Communion...

The Daily Show had a religious author on who pointed out that every major world religion originated in the desert, and in that regard most of their "rules" made perfect sense at the time they were created.  He also accurately pointed out that the one major religion to take hold in the 20th century - Scientology - managed to come up with rules that don't make sense at all.

As for your naive comment about damage to humanity - that would happen with or without religion.  Religion is just an organizing structure so humans can execute their base instincts as a collective group.  If religion hadn't done it, something else would have filled the void.  We are a selfish, narcissistic, and destructive species.

Which ones did you see? Any particular pantheon, or just straight up archetypes like earth/water/weather gods?

That is a very perceptive point, Detective, but our therapeutic techniques are patented for that very reason. If a disgruntled ex-member tries to make them public, we would simply sue that person to the fullest extent of, but in full accordance with, the law. Furthermore, just because your suspect might coincidentally be a Selfosophist, I don't think it's fair to place Selfosophy itself under suspicion.

You must have been higher than the summit of K2. Did she appear from the fronds of a date palm? I can't really think there's much else in the way of trees to worship in Egypt
