Here's a fun fact: the name "Godwin" means "God's joy". The "win" in this word descends from "wynn".

Dinjiin: I wonder if there is any relationship between the English long s 'ſ' and German eszett 'ß' characters.

Yes. The eszett was essentially a ligature of long s and regular s or z (depending on regional preference), but it has since come to have its own significance in the German language.

I would prefer another kulling of letters actually.
I think we kould easily slise a few out.

A - B - D - E - F - G - H - I - K - L - M - N - O - P - R - S - T - U - V - W - X - Y - Z.

I wouldn't remove the X, however, since it's the koolest letter and I don't want to have to order Eks-Men comics. Everything else kan be replaced with other letters. We're down to 23 letters in this alfabet.

Latin was an 'evolved' form of communication, and in the Middle Ages the serfs weren't taught how to read or write it unless they committed their life to the church.

I do recall seeing something about a proposal, which I thought was satire, about reducing the alphabet and changing some spellings, but of course now I can't find it.  My Google-Fu is failing me.

Yes, finally found it:

For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and Iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all.

Damn French messing up the English language beyond comprehension. There are no spelling rules left now to follow. You have to know the root language of most words and the respective spelling rules for them to have a hope. Still, there are exceptions to that guideline too.

The only useful aspect of the language is that it has such a level of amalgamation that incorrect grammar still allows effective communication.
