Just don't cross into another state while you have the pot. You'll get arrested, printed and you'll have to call your mom to bail you out.

Colorado and Washington folks - please, PLEASE set a good example. Be on your best behavior, and please don't do stupid things like drive while high or aggravate the sober folks with public smoking. The rest of the states and the federal government is watching to see how this plays out, and you could be the difference between going national or CO having a federal crackdown..

Laboratory of democracy in action.

I guess this is the one states rights issue Farkers can get behind.

Also: why would I go to Colorado just to get some smoke?

Have never smoked pot!
Have no intention of starting now!
Damn glad that they have finally realized that pot is not the evil thing it has been known as for many years and the ball is rolling toward legalization in many more states. Time to start clearing the prisons of non violent criminals eating up tax dollars because of weed and getting some tax revenue instead. even if every penny generated from the sale is used to regulate the industry it will still be a huge savings for the local economy.

Next step legalized prostitution.

Personally, I'm hoping for a crackdown/blood bath, with liberal tazerings and maceings; you know, for the lols.

1. Set up (of course overpriced) pot shop in the Denver airport.
2. Watch people book their flights to connect at Denver.
3. Airport and pot shop owner PROFIT!

I don't know about that.. But, I do know that driving 130 miles an hour at night, with your headlights out and three 14 year old girls hanging out of the windows is a little suspicious...

As a medical user, I'm worried. People forget how easily the altitude affects you when you first get to Colorado. Having two beers can knock you off your ass if you've only been here a day or so. Add some super strong weed to go with that may cause problems. Just be careful, and don't ruin it for us.

other than the most direct route to Colorado from your home

Reconsider the direct route from the West. If you drive through Utah looking like a stoner, they will nail you. I met a guy in Colorado who wouldn't drive through Utah any more because the cops there targeted him. In addition to Colorado plates he had long hair and tattoos.

West on I-64, then pick up I-70 somewhere near St. Lewis. Maybe next spring I'll hike it.

All it takes is a few good Samaritans to dust a little finely ground pot on all the seats in the departure lounges. The sniffer dogs will alert on everybody that arrives from CO.

Now, if you have an income that doesn't fix you to a location, maybe you should move your stoner ass long term.

At some point I'll make a trip to Colorado so that just once in my life I can buy marijuana legally.  But from a cost perspective, driving that far (700 miles) for weed makes absolutely no sense.

The only question that I want the answer to is do recreational retail workers (key or support) still need to be badged by MMED (RMED?) and if so are student loans still a factor?

The answer to this question will decide whether I am ever able to get another job again.

Number 10 is patently false, marijuana is not chemically addictive.  There are no withdrawal symptoms when you stop marijuana use.  1 is no different than alcohol, which is legal. 2 and 3 are possible with very, very heavy use but is less worse than the damage alcohol does, which is legal.  I have never heard 5 before, ever, and it sounds like bullshiat.  6 is possible. 7 is possible, but you can vaporize and eat pot too.  8 see 7.  9 is possibly true, again heavy use and age may be highly correlated.  Again, 10 is patently false.

After half a glass of wine I never want to drink again, but I guarantee you that if we smoked together I'd be finishing the blunt while you're puking and chasing traffic.  Different folks are acclimated to different things.

Alcohol is one of those things.  Altitude is definitely another.

Federal student loans will likely still be predicated on not using, you may be able to land a job and still get your loans, depends on the rationale the policy makers pull out of their ass.
Remember, it's still illegal on a federal level, and they do still raid dispensaries.

Sorry, you misunderstand the question.

Having any outstanding federal student loans will prevent you from getting a job within the MMJ industry, as the opposite side of the coin you just mentioned.  I have outstanding college debt which ended up destroying my career in the industry when that rule went into effect in Colorado.

My question is will my student loan debt still prevent me from getting a job in the retail marijuana industry as it did in the medical marijuana industry (which I would much rather work in but has been shut off to me).  If MMED doesn't require badges for RMJ employees, then I don't have to fill out CDPHE's insanely huge packet that forces me to disclose all that student loan information and sign over power of attorney to the state.

Meanwhile in my neck of the woods, everyone is afraid to be the first because "None of us want to be the city that acts as the test case for this".  Even though the law takes effect on the 1st, we may be waiting for a few more months before I can buy diggity dank from the corner shop.

In both states that have an established user base, how many buyers are going to abandon current sources and go retail instead. Living in Seattle I think the amusing part will how it will become a "thing" and bring out non-heads who only participate because they can. I can only compare it to New Years eve where people who seldom drink all year decide to get crazy. This will demonstrate the example, the responsible established heads will stay the course and time will tell.
