No, because there's nothing funny about being poor and trying to make ends meet.

Then again, there's nothing funny about 2 broke girls, so...

I've enjoyed some of the episodes but others have fell completely flat.  Now they've introduced this flamboyant Latino character that really reminds me of my boss at work.  The character could be based on this guy.

I was just pondering how delightful it would be to discern what this income disparity, economic inequality and class struggle nonsense is all about.

Does subby know that 2 Broke Girls has nothing to do with Chuck Lorre? Creator and showrunner is Michael Patrick King, who also brought you your beloved Sex and the City.

I'm confused as to why subby's headline is in quotes.

was that a quote from the article?

not to mention subby's quote doesn't make sense because Chuck Lorre has nothing to do with 2 Broke Girls.

Maybe on mute.  The pacing is  'say a line: wait for a laugh : laughter : wait till the laughing stops : somebody else says a line/rinse/repeat'.  When I first saw it, I thought it must be schtick, like the out-of-tune singing in 'Ishtar'.  Nope...just bad...though it does have the advantage of being so slow that a minimum amount of unfunny material gets uttered per episode.

And that those two characters are nowhere near "broke" enough to highlight income disparity, economic inequality, or class struggle?

Exactly my point. This show isn't about poor people, and the idea that the show serves as such an example is a slap in the face to real income disparity, economic inequality, and class struggle. Hell, "Roseanne" did a better job at all of those things than this piece of broadcast shiat, and those folks were nowhere near the bottom.

I was simply thinking that the show would be greatly improved by having each episode end with the two of them in the shower together, and at the end Kat Dennings could step out to get her towel. Do a different camera angle each week.

Ratings GOLD!

No w if someone wants to figure out what the hell to do with the other 20 minutes...

I've seen her in a movie and had to look twice to make sure it was her because her acting was about 100 times better. In 2BG, she's about as emotive as a waxwork on casters.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: The laugh track machine uses enough electricity to power the entire nation of Djibouti.

While the laugh track in that show makes it almost unwatchable, it is how the main characters in the show speak that makes it unbearable.  They speak with a raised pitch and have no range.  It is like they sucked all of the highs from Jim Caviezel in Person of Interest.

Farty McPooPants: Why do they have to shout at each other?

Which is the other problem with their voices.  They're always dialed in at a 9 when they should be speaking between a 5 and 8.  It makes it should as if they're always excited.  It gets tiring after a while.

Farty McPooPants: I tried to like it, the show had so much promise.

Same here.  I think the characters just aren't strong enough on their own to carry the show without better writers.

The fifth-best thing about that show -- after Kat Dennings' boobs and Beth Behrs' legs -- is when the writers suddenly remember these characters are supposed to have a horse living in their backyards and try to shoehorn said horse into the plot.

I think I'm one of the minority on Fark that liked Two Broke Girls, and it's almost entirely about Kat Denning's delivery of innuendo and how much I like it. The disgusting eastern European chef also makes me laugh.

But here's the problem: the current series is a huge, stinking pile of shiat. When someone who liked the first and second series thinks that this one is a turd, you've got problems.

The Polish neighbor and, to a slightly lesser extent, the Russian cook make the show unwatchable for me. Even the eye candy leads can't make up for them.

To be fair, her character is Whitney Cummings. She's supposed to be too neurotic and awkward to take advantage of her hotness, like Whitney Cummings IRL. Or Whitney Cummings in Whitney. I think the badly acted part is actually a choice by Dennings. She could act circles around the rest of the cast but is holding back for ensemble reasons...

Girls half as good looking as the 2 Broke Girls are not believable working at a diner for nickels, when they could be dancing around a pole for tens and twenties.

Class on television is fascinating to me.  There really aren't many "poor" characters on television.  There are a lot of characters who should be poor.  Penny on The Big Bang Theory is a waitress who rents a fairly nice apartment in pseudo-Berkeley and doesn't seem to struggle keeping up with her five  academic professional friends.  The New Girl characters rent an enormous four-bedroom apartment despite one character not holding down a consistent job and another occasionally working as a bartender.

Back in the Game did a decent job of it (single mother moves back in with her father).  And they justified the occasional times she went out as her being treated by her wealthier friend.

As somebody mentioned above, I just think people don't want to watch poor people on television.  Television is supposed to be escapist.  And Unless you're watching ironically to mock the people you're watching (see: Honey Boo-Boo).
