(The Daily Progress)   Remember the ABC agent who accosted the college woman for buying water? Turns out, he was moved around and passed over for promotion because his bosses were concerned about his abilities. Of course, he's suing   (dailyprogress.com) divider line 45

The summer before Taylor led the operation in which authorities charged Daly, 20, with three felonies after agents mistook water for beer, the head of ABC's law enforcement wing decided Taylor had lost command of his troops in Lynchburg and asked him to transfer to Staunton.

Sounds like the Catholic Church. And probably many other large organizations where it's hard to fire bad employees.

I'm hungover and seeing double, but I could swear that story says the guy who got transferred is not the guy who was passed over promotion and is suing.

You're right. False arrest guy was promoted to supervisor and the acting supervisor he displaced filed a grievance.

No wonder the ABC is so poorly-run: they promote guys who can't even tell the difference between water and beer.

Thank you for the clarification. Read the headline, read the article. Re-read the headline, re-read the article. Wondered if I was having a stroke

Thanks everybody for clearing up the article.  I'm really wondering about this, though.

"It was one of more than 50 personnel moves among about 120 agents and supervisors that Walker made over a 15-month period ending in January 2013, according to internal agency memos."

What the hell is going on in that department that more than 40% of the agents are being moved or reassigned in a little over a year?

I'd say it is either a case of a good guy finally taking charge and removing all the bad apples from his tree, or he is a crooked farker and getting rid of all the people that aren't taking part in his scaremongering and willing to stand up for themselves... The coming year will reveal his colors...

Yeesh.

It's easy to mistake American beer and water. That wouldn't have happened if they were serving Australian beer.

Except in the Catholic Church, that water could have been turned to wine at any moment!

/Catholic traffic stops would go something like:
"Why do you have a body in the back seat?"
"That's a box of 'Nilla Wafers."
"Oh, sure, *now* it is. I've got my eye on you. Cannibal."

That was a tough article to read. It's like it was written in English, but followed the sentence construction rules of Farsi. I think the writer achieved the grammatical version of a Magic Eye image, where in order to grasp the true picture of what's there, you have to cross your eyes and stare until some of the words overlap and transpose themselves.

In all fairness, in Virginia there is no discernible difference.

Let me get this straight.  The agent in charge actually never filed the "consuming alcohol" charge and was filing it for evading arrest and disobeying the direction of an (plainclothes gun branishing) officer?

Which they never had the right to place her into custody for because she wasn't consuming alcohol because their agents think LaCroix is like FourLoko?

Geez I hope the suit stands.

Don't feel bad...I wasn't drinking last night and I don't understand TFA either. Besides, why did they charge a woman with buying beer when it was bottled water? I don't even what that means...

Considering how much power the agency seems to have, and how this guy handled the incident referred to, I think we've found the two major sources of problems.

Prohibition. It doesn't work. It never has. It never will.
