North Korea has a better outreach program towards South Korea than the GOP has to minorities.

On the plus side, the GOP is considering letting blacks have early voting hours on Kwanzaa.

"From December 26 through January 1, many families will take time to celebrate African culture and history. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to honor the importance of family and community, and it reminds us of the great diversity in America. Happy Kwanzaa!" said Co-Chairman Day

Happy Kwanzaa everyone. And may your first punch be a successful knockout every time!

Tee Hee! Republican outreach is so lulzy!

There are better things to complain about than an innocuous holiday greeting.

RNC also wants to wish Buddhists a kick-ass New Year.

Ok, I'm a libby-lib, and think Republicans are evil morons.

But...

I don't see anything wrong with that tweet. What's the big deal? Yeah, it's hilarious to see the Republitards try to pretend they care about blacks, but that tweet is completely harmless.

Not sure what the "FAIL" here is.  Granted, it wasn't a tweet declaring Martin Luther King to be the RNC's most favorite historical figure of all time (OF ALL TIME), but it seems like we're digging pretty deep for something to complain about and/or mock.

Trail of Dead: I don't get it. Seems like a benign tweet, what am I missing?

Not a lot.  It's just amusing for two reasons...one, it stands in stark contrast to the other, really terrible attempts at black outreach by the GOP, and two, it's just generally funny to see the RNC try to reach out to blacks while simultaneously making it harder for them to vote, etc.

When the other show drops and their base gets a whiff of what they've done.

At which point the lulz begin.

Yes, it's an innocuous albeit obvious little attempt to pander to black voters but the butt-hurt that little nothing will cause throughout the RW echo chamber will hilariously put the lie to the thing.

Agreed, it's not really a "fail".  Just an excuse to talk about the GOP's lame attempts at minority outreach.

Well, since the last day of Kwanzaa is New Year's Day, saying it's a "time of reflection ahead of the New Year" shows they didn't even bother to take 30 seconds to check the wikipedia on it and learn the most basic thing about it.

Schadenfreude. Just knowing that it is a silly gesture that will generate a predictable reaction from their base and watching the ensuing train wreck with glee.

Eh, they tried. My opinion is the most offensive thing about the tweet is the sentence construction. It simply doesn't make any sense... They probably don't really deserve to get pounded for this, but the fact that they're going to get pounded bespeaks the horrible reputation they've created for themselves.

It's like the situation I found myself in 25 years ago at the crummy job I had then -- in the space of a couple weeks I'd made enough actual mistakes to piss off my bosses, they were justifiably angry with me. At that point, stupid little things became a big farking deal, like the time I didn't change the toilet paper roll in the bathroom.

2013-12-27 10:18:41 AM
Somebody needs to convince the RNC that these attempts at minority outreach aren't working because they're spoken, written, typed, et al, but not rapped. THAT'S how you reach them!!!

/Please, GOP, you have nothing left but lulz.

Unlike Christmas which celebrates the factual virgin birth of the son of god on a date that no one thinks is remotely close to when this absolutely factual event ocurred. I guess since it co-opted an existing solstice celebration that it wasn't technically made up out of thin air, though.

As statements go it is pretty harmless, but it would be better for the RNC if they would back up outreach attempts by trying to put an end to voter ID nonsense and the like.

I know. There was a Democrat who wished people a merry Christmas. Obvious pandering but it created quite a shiatstorm within the Democratic ranks.

When Maulana Karenga invented the Kwanzaa holiday in 1966, the candles that represent the seven core principles (Nguzo Saba) were identical in design to the original menorahs used in temple (seven branch). However, later versions of the  menorah contained nine branches (one branch for the 8 days of Hanukkah and the ninth candle (the kosher shamash) to symbolize the 'servant' or 'helper'.  Whatever you do, don't attend either candle-lighting ceremony and sing "Happy Birthday dear Hitler", and then blow them out!

I will be released from the hospital sometimes next week.

It's not fake because it was started in the 60s. Is fake because there is nobody who actually celebrates it. I met one guy 14 years ago who did, and the other guys in his black frat made fun of him for it.

Republican outreach is best left to their arms sticking out in the air.

I was going to say 'meh' since I know it's as sincere as a Hanukkah greeting from Mitt Romney, but otherwise harmless.

But then I saw the Freeper comments, which would mirror those of my parents, and that's where the knee-jerk racist Teahadists can't stand the slightest whiff of multiculturalism.
