Nothing like crapping on stuff that has direct, foreseeable applications to your hobby horse. I guess the person in question wants a Manhattan Project to find the Fountain of Youth, which requires crushing a Philosopher's Stone into it and using the Holy Grail as the cup you drink from. Some tempering of wild projections of tech is useful, but this is ridiculous.

PS: passenger jets aren't any more advanced since 1950 and we have discovered all the elements on the periodic table, at least the Deathless Atoms, decades ago.

I was hoping this was the press release saying they did it, not the press release saying this is what we have planned.

Oh well, good luck for them, when they achieve their goal they should buy some sponsored ads on fark, that should pay off the research

And the liver they use as "ink" is still cheaper than the ink I need to buy for my HP printer.

Begoggle: Finally a Quality Application for 3D printing.

Last I saw, on Christmas he was shiatting all over a thread about some guy getting his car damaged at a Walmart or something, insisting someone in that thread explain to him how to fix the cars using parts made by a 3D printer. When no one, not even the article had made any mention of 3D printing. I guess he's just going to random threads, now.

Oh, Space Bevets has been doing that for some time now.  I may have even seen him throw up one of his unbidden rants in the sports tab, even.

Fano: PS: passenger jets aren't any more advanced since 1950

In what way?

We can't make them faster for logistics/noise reasons.  But we are making them quieter, larger, more efficient, and you may have noticed that they fall out of the sky a hell of a lot less often.

I like how the topic could be some young Hollywood actress and how hot she is and suddenly it's all "Youth >oldth unless you're a Farker then life gets better at middle age and you're in the best shape of your life and your dick stays hard and herp a derp" from out of left field.

Even that isnt true anymore. They are building, designing, testing the next generation of super-sonic jets, with numerous noise cancellation and reducing features. They expect to be able to fly pretty much everywhere.

Soon enough, we will be fabricating livers, kidneys, pancreases, cartilage, joints, skin, who knows what else. At some point they will try nerves and muscles.

We live in Interesting Times.

I just printed one. It turned out well. A little plasticky maybe, and a few rough spots, but definitly liver shaped! Now if they wanted an actual functional liver...

You'll go crazy and all, but you'll spend quality time with Shannon Kenny.  Might be worth it.

They printed a 500 micron thick layer and kept it alive for 40 days.
Fully sized functioning organ is still quite a ways off.

I can confirm this, even though I have it ignored, because he's so well known his posts are repeated and he's told to fark off in those other threads too.

Then you see him in some obscure thread once in a blue moon and he's just a regular poster, as if he's trying to play nice(to the point of sounding like a suck-up).  Inevitably, he'll call someone out on their apostrophe usage or spelling and the cycle starts again. Within hours he'll be on a tirade somewhere.

I know fark is home to a lot of messed up people, but he is the bottom of the barrel.  At least the actual Bevets has a reason in that he's brainwashed, a product of someone elses lies.  QA is an obsessive nutjob naturally.

Wow, an entire 3D printing thread with no nonsense from a Quivering Asshole.

I'm shocked!
